Adam Kemp – Is this the worst Arsenal Team in Premier League history?

Adam Kemp – Is this the worst Arsenal Team in Premier League history?

Today was a massive opportunity for Arsenal to go out and prove all the doubters wrong by annihilating an inferior Fulham side at home. After twenty minutes or so you would have possibly believed that we could actually deliver some kind of performance. The same old Arsenal syndrome captured the players and they blew it again. This is without doubt the worst Arsenal team that has ever played under the reign of Arsene Wenger and they need a miracle to finish fourth. How ashamed do you all feel watching these inadequate players pretending to be Arsenal players? We do not have any world class footballers in the team and the poor results reflect this!

To be in contention to win the league you need a seventy percent win ratio whilst losing only ten percent of your matches. In our opening eleven fixtures we have only won four matches with a thirty-six percent win ratio. We should have amassed double the amount of wins than what we have done so far which confirms we are a club in crisis. We have steadily been on this gradual decline of selling our better players and now finally we do not have those special players to carry the team. Van Persie for me is the best striker in world football and we sold him to a rival as we could not convince him of winning silverware. I do not blame the guy for wanting to move to a more ambitious and dare I say it better club!

Four measly wins in eleven games is mid table form and I must stress that we are likely to finish there this season. On paper we are no better in terms of quality and depth than Newcastle, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool. They have players that could walk into our side which is another disgrace. When we were successful and winning trophies it was extremely rare we would lose or draw at home unless the opposition was top class. To draw at home to Fulham when we needed a minimum of three points is consistent with the demise of this club. Arteta had the chance to step up and win the game but his lack of composure cost us. We have so many technically astute players but they lack steel, composure, leadership and belief.

In all competitions this season we have played seventeen and only won eight (forty-seven percent win ratio) which is unacceptable for club ranked sixth in Europe. Arsenal FC skyrocketed from a top English to team to a top European side since Wenger took over but Arsenal is now in a free-fall of descent with no way back. We want our Arsenal back! I want my Arsenal back! If we did not have the vast financial resources we evidently possess then I could accept our demise. The manager’s job is to build a team to challenge for trophies using all the resources available. At the AGM we had the board argue that is two seasons they could compete financially with the richest clubs in the world. We need to be competitive now as in two years when we end up like Liverpool no top players will be attracted to us.

Our second majority shareholder is three times as wealthy as the Chelsea owner and we ignore his desire to provide assistance. We have in excess of £130Million sitting in the bank earning interest on investments and making the shareholders more profitable. We have one of the best turnovers in world football with a profit margin second to none and yet we continue to be so cautious. The apparent Jewish culture that is embedded in Spurs is almost a myth as they spend more than us season after season. When Spurs spend more than Arsenal it angers me as their turnover is far less. We are winning the business battle as we sit first in the league for nett profit taken in player transfers. When Wigan, Stoke and QPR outspend the Arsenal it is only a matter of time before they progress.

Three to four years ago even though we were not winning things we had the players that were capable to. We arguably should have won the league in 2008 but at least we played fantastic football. Now we play Scunthorpe United style football as tactically the cretin Wenger cannot accommodate his players. They are all played out of position and it has shown. Wenger is the only manager who can buy international talent and ruin their careers; Arshavin being his most recent example. Although I do not have the pedigree of the great Wenger I have a UEFA B license in football coaching. This means I have some level of knowledge in reference to tactics and our current system is not appropriate.

Our current system 4-3-3 requires a prolific lone striker with fast inside forwards to get in behind the opposition. The three midfielders need to be technically proficient and balanced between attack and defence. The defence needs to be fast and organised when pressing the ball. We do not have a prolific lone striker and we do not have one natural winger in the side. We are a team of central midfield playmakers and advanced forwards. Van Persie is a complete forward and if he was still here we could probably get away with this system. If I was in charge I would play a 4-1-2-1-2 formation as it would suit the players more. The defence would pick itself with Gibbs, Vermaelen, Koscielny and Sagna as first choice. We still lack depth here with only Jenkinson and Mertesacker competent to rotate with them. I would argue we need a new left back and centre half to add depth.

The holding midfielder could be Frimpong, Coquelin or even Arteta protecting the back four. Then the 3 positions in front could be filled by any of Diaby, Rosicky, Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla, Arshavin and Oxlade-Chamberlain. You would have two central midfielders whom could play narrow or wider with one of them playing in the hole behind the strikers. Then you could play two up top with Walcott, Podolski, Gervinho, Giroud and Chamakh. As lone strikers they are not complete enough to play in this role, however, as two strikers they could have an easier task with a partner. Giroud using his head to flick the ball onto Walcott through the middle is far better than going wide. A player like Chamakh was top class at Bordeaux playing alongside another striker. Arshavin plays his best behind the stiker and I think this system would give us more results. Now I am a measly unknown football coach and even I can work this out.

Wenger is a joke and again he has assembled a team geared to lose as tactically he is inept. Another disappointing performance for the Gunners today and I cannot see us getting three points next weekend against Spurs. I remember the days when beating Spurs was a formality and yet they have been allowed to catch up to us. If they do not finish above us this season Wenger has performed a miracle.

Love Arsenal, Hate Wenger!

Even as a root cause analyst I find it difficult to establish the reason why our players suffer long term injuries than other teams. Also which positions are hit most.My suspision is the fitness level.Would I therefore be wrong to conclude that there is something wrong with our training methods? Secondly I also find it difficult to understand why we spent £6.2m on Santos and coudn’t spend £5m on Berbatov?

Can’t say this is the worst team ever in our history but one of the worst.the teams performance has been depleting from like 8 yrs ago but we failed to see it. it hurts to see players like Wilshire, Walcott, Sczsney, toil and toil but gets nothing at the end of the season.too bad for us

I agree wit adams. Our players are played out of positn. Arteta is not a defensive mdflder, there is so many turning arounds & passing 2 defenders wen dir is chances of pushing forward. We need 2 sale d likes of ramsey, diaby, santos, arshavin, chamak, squillach, frimong, djourou, park, bentder & even podolski 2 pave way 2 beta players. I’m totally disappted on d level of our performance. Infant wenger shld resign honourably than ending up disgraceful & destroying our arsenal. Appiont Guardiola

This season is a write off. We should just focus on winning the Capital One Cup and build from there.

I’ve stopped watching our team, i simply feel that they have departed. No hope guys, go support someone else. I can’t relate arsenal to the team we have right now, it’s not us, looks like a championship team.
Miracles don’t perform everyday, so hope we finish 8th in league. Thanks to the greedy board, feel disgusted writing and wasting my energy, but feels so sad within. weep weep.

My 8.03 pm yesterday has been hidden due to low comment rating. Fair enough.
All I did though was to point out that last season the same doom and gloom merchants were spouting off about the same time, regarding the state of our team. Then we recovered and finished 3rd.
If that sort of view results in a low comment rating, it sadly reflects the tunnel views unfortunately held by many so-called Arsenal supporters today.

Adam Kemp you are the journalistic equivalent of Adolf Hitler. You wait until everybody is weak and in true bullying fashion you present a doomsday scenario and use fear to garner support for your views. The reality is that there is a metamorphoses going on inside the club and in the last two seasons we have taken in 9 new first team players and sold 5 of very important players. In addition to this we have one player fit who has been out for a year and a half and two other great players who are also recovering from long term injury. With the exception of Walcott, Vermaelen, Sagna and Koscielny the rest of the team are still not really familiar with the premiershipand each other. The current squad forms the bones of next five years. Everybody including you called for change, now that it’s here don’t moan about it, support the team to help it improve.

Some of your analysis is incredible. You seem now firmly on the red and white bandwagon going on about spurs spending more money than us which they have done for years and still not finished above us in how long? You set yourself up against Wenger as you do every year when we fail to perform at some point and usually you end up with egg on your face.

It’s inevitable that one day you will of course be proved right, just like the guys who used to walk up and down Oxford street screaming the end of the world is niegh. They died and for them it was over. For you it’s a numbers game. You know that no competitor can dominate any sport for more than a certain period of time, money will help dominate team sports but nobody has a right to keep on winning.

You would be more credible if you came out positively when this team did something well but that is not your style as you might have to admit you were wrong. As far as I am concerned you are a sorry excuse of a fan and a Jonah around Arsenal FCs neck. Apart from the fact that I always support the team through thick and thin I can’t wait for them to start winning again just so you disappear.

Try watching Morrow, Selley, Hillier and McGoldrick patrolling the midfield and then maybe you really would have an excuse to whinge like a 5 year old.

Yes, at times Adam Kemp does talk sense.

But why do you always need to pipe up when Arsenal lose?
Where are you complaining when Arsenal are winning?

That’s what really pisses me off about your articles.

To ‘Peter’, when you said we needed to sell the likes of Diaby, Ramsey, Frimpong and Podolski i’m sure you were either intoxicated to some extent or briefly turned into a Spurs fan. Why would we want to sell Diaby- a player who at the start of the season showed us his true undoubted quality. Who when fit is a pure nightmare for the opposition. Podolski- a player who has shown his world class quality, not just at Arsenal but at an International stage and for season after season in the Bundesliga. Ramsey- agreed a player lacking in quality and confidence at the moment, but give him time, he will comeback to hs best if you know anything about football, you can see he is improving and with a bit of confidence we will son see him to what he was achieving before his horrible injury. Frimpong- a promising young talent with a lot of ability and that pysical presence and playing style that we Arsenal fans said has ben lacking in recent years. who at such a young age will surely only develop his talent at Arsenal. Why when we have that, would we want to sell to anoher team?

Hope others will agree, come on the Arsenal. Forever a gooner.

no it’s not is simple answer. mid 90s we had a worse team, even came 12th one year!

i still expect us to finish 4th this year it’s hard to see us being able to compete with the 2 manc clubs and chelsea as we just don’t have a sugar daddy to throw 200-300 million at us and cover silly wages.

fulham are not a bad team and we ALWAYS seem to have a bad November but my main concern has been performances since the 2- defeat to Chelsea. At least yesterday we played a lot better and only 3 stupid mistakes and a penalty miss meant we didn’t take all the pts.

Everyone has a slump during the season so lets see where we are at Christmas before getting too excited

And what will happen if Arsenal ride their luck and get a win against Barcelona in the Champs League this year, Adam? Will you be back and making another embarrassing ‘you were right, Wenger, I was wrong’ article?

I hope that now you will be staunchly anti-Wenger and, short of him actually acknowledging his mistakes, rectifying the formation, shipping out the deadwood and bringing in some proven quality (which will NEVER happen by the way), promise never to write such a cringeworthy retraction should Wenger’s Arsenal luck their way to win against a top team.

Wenger, Gazidis, Hill-Wood and Kroenke out!!!

Sorry to see that your team lost to Man City today Mr Kemp, perhaps thats why you feel you have to vent your anger on Arsene and the players of Arsenal.
Was it Arsene who missed the penalty?
Was it Arsene who gave away the penalty?
Is it Arsene who is the new defensive coach?
How old are you, do you remember 80’s-90’s?
Why do you watch football if it gives you so much heartache?
You support your team whatever, you dont take every opportunity to try and divide the supporters.
We are four points behind fourth position and not playing with confidence. Last year you predicted we were relegation bound, just remind us what happened next?
I know you cant though because that would mean you are wrong and that your team fell through the gap!!!!!
Please just **** back to White Hart Lane where you came from and let us support this great club through thick and thin.

    Angry Gooner,

as Mr Kemp wont answer the questions I posed to him, perhaps you will.
Did you see the results today?
Chelsky draw with Liverpool despite the millions upon millions they have spent whilst distorting the transfer market?
Man Shitty (top spenders) scoring two minutes from the end against another team spending more than us (Kemp fact).
West Ham (who we beat) beating Newcastle another big spending team?
It proves that money does not guarantee success and no team expet to win trophies, as Martin Jol so rightly said.
Having said that, dont forget to answer my questions Angry Goooner, really interested to see your answers.

@Ken you must be crazy not to see the development that the other teams spending money are doing.Chelsea are the reigning UEFA champs.Man City are the reigning EPL champs yet you dont see what they have done?!!City came from behind to defeat Spurs a spirit and kind of players we dont have.Chelsea came at Emirates and overshadowed us…and currently they are ahead of us.I am beginning to suspect that some of people who post their views here are not Arsenal supporters and they mock us with their stupid opinions.we cant hide from the truth,we do not have a team to win title rather participating in every year.A team with a manager who lacks ambition and always picks positives not seeking to win 3pts from the match he plays.

Some good point here. but honestly. I have been a gunner my whole life and will always be a gunner. I love Arsenal and respect Wenger. We all make mistakes. And wenger has done a lot for players and the club overall. So this is a hard time for the gunners in a long while. But I have faith in Wenger and Arsenal. Yes there are things that need to be done, and politics and board control sometimes are out of wengers control. But something needs to be done for this to turn around and i am just waiting for it to happen cause i know it will. In wenger we trust!!!

Get your faith back, 5-2 win over spurs. You dont want to be the fan that only supports when we win. Through thick and thin!

    Blessings
