Akpom loan could see him break into Arsenal this season

The young Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has signed on for a one month loan deal at Brentford. The League One club are flying high at the top of the league table, just like the Gunners, and are looking for a little bit of extra firepower to keep up the challenge, just like Arsenal.

The similarities in the two clubs’ current positions, despite the difference in class between the leagues, may not be lost on the 18-year old. His good form for the reserves, both this season and last, has earned him the chance to impress at competitive level. If he takes it, Akpom could even find himself in the Arsenal first team a few times when he returns.

Akpom is very well thought of at the club and has already made two appearances for the full team this season, along with scoring four goals in seven games at underage level. The fact that he is a versatile player who can operate on the left and right as well as through the middle will also help his chances of getting in the first team, but first of all he needs to go and impress at Brentford. Good luck and go get ‘em young Gunner!

i hope OG & NB rotate more this half of season, keep them both fresh and sharp. Surely OG will come back firing after his break.

we wont win the league with them up front, simple as. Especially with our main goalscorer out for the rest of the season

He’s a fearless lil dude and will run circles round those guys in league 1, while bangin in goals galore.
They might want to keep him.

Go get some game time young gun and come back ready for the 1st squad. We need you…

      @NYGunner
I wouldn’t say run rings round league 1 players that level is really physical and long ball stuff he may even struggle I should know.
Will see tho hopefully he’s like Defoe was for Bournemouth.

The physicality will do him good. Prepare him for the league. He’s very adaptable. I’m sure he will shine…

I Hope so but we have sent players out on loan to league 1 & 2 sides before and it’s not worked out.
I would rather see him in the championship.

Leagues 1&2 are becoming the dumping grounds for youth players from a lot of European teams.
I’m sure he’ll stand out coming from us…

Could be valuable for him, heres me hoping they play him regularly and not once or twice as an emergency sub. On the striker note, I’m still rooting for either Costa (very optimistic), Remy (reasonable), or Morata (very realistic) – just hope we get one of them before it comes back to haunt us.

I’m not sure they will. they have a striker on loan from Chelsea? maybe Fulham. who is scoring for fun. hope he does start week in week out though

Can’t wait for Villa game. Hope Kos scores and gets retribution for last game. Poor ref decisions.
Maybe game is done at ha’d time and we get penalty for him to slot.

      That was a definite pen.
Kos clipped him clearly on the replay shown 1st before he touched the ball.
I Fancy us to win 3-1 at villa park.
I can’t see Akpom breaking in this season after this loan surely he will have another loan at a championship club.

depends on the mood of the ref , at that time he was up to screw us all over

Akpom is still behind in the pecking order atm i believe, he has great potential and i believe in 2-4 years he will break into the first team and has the ability to be a world beater, but atm i believe he is behind Giroud, Bendtner, Podolski, Walcott(injured), and even Sanogo (who we haven’t properly seen!

    Great potential though!

i really dont know why would anyone want morata? he is just another youngster, if we are serious we need mature and exp player, and this morata transfer speculation is completly bullsxit, wenger signed sanogo, why would he sign another young st?

Because he wants to prove he can win the title with youngsters, something he failed to do at Monaco because they sacked him for it when they realized what he was doing.

Why not bring in ready made proven players, get the trophy monkey off our back by winning the FA cup or PL then next season he can bring in what ever kid he wants?

One thing that’s for sure is Wenger will NOT get the same fortune next season with City, Chelsea and utd dropping so many points. City despite losing and drawing so many games are only 1 point behind us, this wont be the case next season when their players gel.

If he wastes the 2nd half of this season relying on a loaned kid and not a complete striker like Martinez then then any failure will be down to Wenger.

if lazio by chances buys matri from milan we should make a bid for klose, he is good and would be a perfect short times solution to our problems

Most arsenal fans think the transfer window is like FIFA 14 manager mode. The earlier we realize we aren’t getting morata, costa etc… the better for us
Support arsenal and not a big money transfer, the thought that what is outside the club is better than what is in the club is just wrong…
