Alexis says again that Arsenal must win a trophy this season

There has been a lot of gossip about Alexis Sanchez and his contract talks with Arsenal this season, which will continue as long as there is no concrete decision on his future. Most of the rumours have been about how much money the Chilean wants to earn, but Arsene Wenger has hinted that for top stars like Ozil and Sanchez it is no longer just about money, they are hungry for trophies and success.

Many times we have heard Alexis talk about how desperate he is to win a big trophy, and he has said it again today on Arsenal.com. “I definitely feel like an important player and my teammates let me know every day,” he said. “I try to prove that I am an important player every day and game after game. I believe we have the players and the quality to win many things.

“I feel really happy and comfortable at the club,” added the striker. “I want to give the fans a new title. We always get our fans’ support in the thin and the thick, which is great. We must win the Premier League or the Champions League for them.”

He is certainly the catalyst for most of our urgency on the pitch this season, and maybe this is the hunger that we have badly needed to see from all our players but have rarely seen. What worries me though is whether he will sign a new contract if we don’t manage to win anything in this campaign….

  1. I like how he made sure to let us know that he’s comfortable being with us, it’s also good that he feels like an important player. That can go in our favor, some players love that kind of responsibility. This dude is the marquee player. “We should win them the title or the CL”, with a couple more like you then we would for sure.

    1. That’s the thing after Alexis and Özil who can we honestly say are game changers? Yes we have had players that came up with game changing moments and will see more in the future but when we take the field can we say when the going gets tough this or that player will pull us out. I look at the other top 6 teams and I count more than 2 players easily who can do that for their respective team. Point is we need more Alexis’ in our team and the sooner the better.

  2. is anyone seeing the way martial is tearing apart chambers. OMG. Only saving grace is refs are hell bent to screw Manchester United. Man denied a sexy goal, if that was us I would have just killed that ref.

  3. man utd, 2 goals in 2 mins, i guess a city – pool draw would be best, we need to climb over two teams before we try to close a 12 point gap…

    1. That was even a bigger defensive collapse that ours against Everton and Man City. To concede 2 goals in such quick succession 5 minutes from winning a game is criminal defending. You won’t hear the media say that though unless it’s Arsenal, instead you’ll hear Man Utd pull that out of Fergies handbook.

  4. Chelsea looking like champions at the moment. If they beat us at the Bridge in early Feb, that’s probably it for us. All the big boys are looking great at the moment, crazy to think that two teams out of Spurs, Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal, City, and Liverpool, won’t finish in the top four. It’s so hard to call.

    1. that why i said i am actually concerned we don’t finish top 4 this season, i was crucified as a trader, negative, et… truth is, i am concerned, the top team are playing well, the top class mngrs are settling in, pep, mou, klopp… chelsea is 12 up on us, spurs score w more conviction than us… its a ligit concern, imo

      1. I agree with you. With no European football, Liverpool, and Chelsea, are huge favourites to finish in the top four at the very least. Utd are starting to play very well, and Mourinho is a much better manager than Wenger, so you can see them catching us. Spurs are starting to hot up, and I expect City to improve in the second half of the season, although they’re currently losing again. Wenger is the master at finishing in the top four, so I suppose we do have that going for us. Certainly will be the most competitive season ever for those top four places.

  5. how important is tomorrows result. only a win will be good. hope our players will give us something to cheer. = gooner for ever

  6. On wednesday every Arsenal fan will be a Totenham fan when they face chelsea…we need them to reduce the 9 points gap between us and chelsea and we also need them to stop chelsea from matching our record(14 game winning streak)..what a time to be alive
