Alfie’s Daily World Cup podcast – Spain and Portugal struggled

Here we have another Daily round up from Alfie, who has been a great addition to team JustArsenal. It wasn’t the most exciting day in Russia with just 3 goals all day. Things have changed since the first opening games…

Over to you Alfie…

  1. Times like this I’m glad I’m not Spanish.

But then when I feel like a siesta I wish I was Spanish. Swings and roundabouts…….

  2. On the subject of the World Cup, does anyone else think the reffing has been shocking at times, the use of VAR inconsistent and really useless and some of the players antics, rolling around, feigning injury and hassling the ref quite absurd? The powers that be said lots of players crowding the ref would be stopped, well it is happening on most games and not one player booked yet for it. And now players and managers are drawing mid air rectangles indicating VAR should be used. I also think the linos have forgotten how to raise their flags! Rant over.

    1. Yeah, the use of VAR is very inconsistent. This is why I’m glad EPL voted no to adding it yet. Still a lot of things to fix about how it’s used. Later stages in the competition I’m sure we’re going to see a ton of VAR controversy.

  3. “Simulation” with players feigning injury, holding on to various body parts not even contacted and acting like they had been shot with an elephant gun has been the disgrace at this World Cup.
