Arsenal just need this to win stunning treble – Yeah right!

The Arsenal boss, perhaps in response to the comments of his managerial rival Man City about the prospect of Man City winning an unprecedented four trophies this season, has been talking up the chances of the Gunners matching the very rare achievement of clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Celtic in winning the continental treble.

In Europe that would be your domestic title and cup and either the Champions League or Europa League, although no club has ever done it with Europe’s secondary club competition. So with Arsenal in a good position to challenge for the Premier League title and having been given a useful looking home draw with Hull City in the next round of the FA cup, we are definitely in a position to go for the treble.

The big problem, however, is that the last club to do the treble was Barcelona last year and they are next up for Arsenal in Europe. But Arsene Wenger declared in an Evening Standard report that with a bit of luck and consistency we could get past the Catalans. However he also admits that in order for the Gunners to win the treble we would have to be playing at our top level for pretty much the whole of the rest of the season.

The Frenchman said, “It is [possible] because some clubs have done it. Bayern have done it. It is difficult to compete on three fronts.

“If you ask me is it possible to win on three fronts, it is a little bit different. Exceptionally, it can happen. But you need not to have any bad injuries and to have a basis of a team who can repeat performances.

“Maybe to be above everyone else, like Bayern were, like Barcelona were last year. It is difficult. Maybe in Spain even more because they play two legs in the cup.”

So there you have it Gooners, all Arsenal have to do to win the treble is be perfect, get no more injury problems and stay that way from now until the end of May. What could be easier? Let’s just make sure we get the EPL title shall we?

    1. The man is deluded . Even our full squad had deficiencies.
We needed a viera type figure to partner with coquelin in the midfielder , so that we can play Cozorla in a more advanced position
And a striker( not necessarily world class ) but one who ticks all the boxes and his better than average in all key areas.

Counter attacks are a major portion of the typical goals scored in a season. With giroud , you can discount 10-15 goals in a season.
What about throughball with a striker running behind the defense by beating the offside trap
Then you are talking about a striker hugging the blind spot or drifting away from his marker.
We are Easily talking about 10 to 25 goal a season or 12 pts

Counter attacks are a major portion of the typical goals scored in a season. With giroud , you can discount 9-15 goals in a season from counterattacks.
Long range shots ,easily 2-5 goals.

These Dropped points are exactly what is needed to compete for the league .
Another observation is that Sanchez hardly scores or does not score enough with giroud on the pitch.
He plays better and scores more with Walcott running behind the marker and stretching the play .
We all know that Sanchez likes to cut inside and attack the space. The problem is that giroud brings all the defenders towards the ball and chokes off those spaces .
Lastly , we either have to walk the ball into the net or no goal No sitters, no goal.

What a perfect analysis. How come fans like you can see this but wenger can’t with all his experience. I have always said our football is very limited because of some players we have in our starting eleven. Giroud is a good striker but no top club would have giroud as their main striker, second choice possibly to offer something different but not first choice. How can a so called top club like arsenal rely on a striker so slow, that lacks mobility, dribbling, quick feet. The truth is most top clubs don’t rely on this “hold up” play rubbish as a strikers main trait. We are losing points due to limitations in our players. Look at ramsey, he can’t even have a good pass completion stats and can’t control the midfeild and spends most of his time in the opposition box trying to score when he should help defensively and serve as an outlet for the defence and then playing mertesacker in a high line defence. Too many limitations in this team. I could go on and on.

    1. where are those stupid muthertruvkers saying they would cry if wenger leaves.
The man is way overrated and has no idea about football.
He is just another pathetuc excuse for a person.Kick him out of the cpub as soon as possible

  1. It’s frustrating to listen to Wenger talking, he sounds as if he’s living on a planer called mercury. Ramsey – Flamini partnership should be halted now to pave way for Le coq – Elneny.
Flamini should sit us down and explain to Arsenal fans, how he has conned us into believing he’s an actual footballer in 21st century. It’s a shame unto us Gunners but there’s still hope. Up the Gunners! ! !

  2. our world class players wont be around much longer the way we are going if wenger dont win the bpl they will leave and when they do i wont watch another game till we have a new manager

    1. Ozil is playing it cool with any contract talk.
Why should he if he can earn double of what he is being offered and a chance of winning the major trophies.

  3. everyone crucifies mert, but defense is not afc’s problem, we can not score consistently, its been an issue for 3-4 yrs…

    1. Mertesacker is crap . He is a major part of the problem . If he been on the pitch today , I have no doubt that Keoman would have targeted and exposed him with his pacy forwards.
Gabriel in the team today allowed us to take risk. That is why you see Kolcieny bombing forward trying to score in the opposition’s box . Having defenders who can take care of themselves gives you extra bodies in attack and midfied .
Our chief problem is the absence of Cazorla. Not Coq but Cazorla. Ramsey simply does not have the brains and tools to control a midfield .

  4. I believe we should start hounding Wenger like the man u.fans are doing to LVG. I also want the gutter press to fire resignation questions athim. We must get Wenger out hook or by crook before the start of next season. Harsh I know but he’s got to go at all cost. Everybody and his uncle new we was a striker, DM and a CB short last summer and with 200 mil in the bank gaining interest. This USA franchise called AFC is no longer the football club I’ve supported since I was a boy.

  5. Teams that mean business are gearing up for the final push by winning matches, while we are traditionally slipping away (as usual) I wonder which team we can actually beat this remainder of the season. The most funny thing is seeing Wenger sitting down and complaining to Steve instead of standing up and talking to the players, changing some tactics etc. I guess he was discussing the excuse he would offer to the press.
