An Arsenal line-up GUARANTEED to score goals!

Why not try this? by Gunnerjack

I know what follows is very experimental and could cost us but I think we’ve got to try something to get out of our present slump. I think the following starting lineup (if all players fit) would do 3 things:

1) score goals and not concede easily
2) have plenty of pace and contains players absolutely bursting to show what they can do for our team
3) get rid of any complacency in those players who are presently under performing but think their place is safe.

Chez
Hector BFG Kos Nacho
Calum
Jack Ox
Alex Danny Joel C

(If Jack is not fit then Santi to take that position)

Subs (in order of preference after the first 2):
GK – Ospina
Defender – Hayden
————————
1) Roz
2) Santi
3) Poldi
4) Rambo
5) Mesut

The front 3 would have strict instructions NOT to go back and ‘help’ the defence and to instead reserve all their strength and energy for attacking and scoring. Not allowed to drop back further than the halfway line at any time (to be onside) and to prepare to deliver massive and fast counter attacks after an opposition attack/free kick/corner.

Apart from helping Calum in defence when needed Jack/Santi and Ox told to get the ball out to either wing and then backup our wingers rather than trying to go through the middle, and then to get themselves into scoring positions just behind Danny whenever possible. Let’s see how defences cope with attacks of this speed!

Projected final score if this lineup used tomorrow: Villa 2 – 4 Arsenal

    1. debuchy update:
Wenger said the ex-Lille man would go in for exploratory surgery on Friday before deciding whether a full operation is required.

“If he doesn’t, it’ll be six weeks, if he does need surgery it’ll be three months. At the moment we don’t know.”

    2. Hopefully it’s only 6 weeks. You have got to laugh at this. Even football manager ain’t that easy. The fact is that everyone can think that they are a football manager. Do people actually think that Arsene Wenger is going to go to Justarsenal and pluck tactics from there?

    1. Joel Campbell just ain’t as good as the other players and needs to figi for his place. He has played un21 games to prove himself.

      1. @arsenalman365 – As Joel hasn’t played how do you come to the conclusion he’s not as good as the others? He was better then many of them at the World Cup!

        1. Cazorla and Ozil are better out wide and before people criticise me, Cazorla has played on the left for 10 years and Ozil played on the right in a handful of games at Madrid and at the World Cup.

    2. and plus. Between City, Dortmund and Champions league qualification…he hasn’t got enough “big game” experience vs his teammates…
Should have started vs Leister though, no doubt.
Maybe he will get a show vs Villa

      1. Villa is not really a ‘big game’, such as the Manchester clubs, Chelsea or European games so Joel should be starting NOW to see what he can or cannot do. He was as good as most from Arsenal at the World Cup so should be given at least a chance. We cannot mollycoddle our players – they must be given a chance to stand up and be counted or dropped/loaned/sold. Endless games on the bench are useless and just frustrate players, especially when the chosen players are under performing.

      2. interesting theories, yet he was good enough to beat man united in champions league and score a great goal. he was good enough to lead the line for a costa rican team who surprised everyone. one of the standout players of the tournament.

hes not gd enough ? hmmmm

        1. Did I say that he isn’t good enough? I said that he ain’t better than what we already have plusyou can’t judge a player over 3 games. His goal and assist record for Olympiakos is poor.

          1. Joel Campbell is probably our second best attacking option behind Sanchez at the moment. His ball control, first touch and finish are certainly better than ox. Only one i’m not sure about at the moment is Welbeck who is yet to impress

  1. We need to give some players rest.
this team is good enough to win big

    Ospina
    Bellerin…chambers…Mertsacker..monreal
    Arteta…Flamini
    Rosicky
    Podolski…Sanogo…Campbell

  2. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of this article…

    Szszesny
    Chambers Mert Kos Gibbs
    Jack Rambo
    Ox Danny Sanchez

This would be so much pace, decent enough balance and a goal scoring lineup.

    1. You planning on 10 players only? I mean we are already in bad form. No need to show off that we can play with 10 players also. Put Mesut in there.

    2. In my defence I think Gibbs wants to get forward too much and not sure Jack and Rambo are all that good together. Want defenders to defend and attackers to attack. Apart from front three you’ve just put the same old, same old . . .

  3. Why do we need players with free roles? I don’t get it. Look at Dortmund. Their system is all about defending in packs AND quick counter-attacking football. It’s all about quick transitions. This works wonders for them. Why shouldn’t it for us?
One of the biggest problems we had against them was that our players were always doubled or tripled by their defending players. Doing that, they simply put in a harder shift than we did. They ran more than 10km more than we did. That’s a lot!
If we start defending as a team, 1-4-1-4-1 can be a great formation for us.

    1. Yes – total pressure. It has worked for Barcelona which is why Sanchez is so aggressive on the pitch. Instead of sitting behind the ball to defend, they attack every player like they stole their Schwinn bicycle.

Unfortunately we just don’t do that…

  4. What is difficult to manage today is that everybody knows absolutely everything and everybody judges people definitely on one game. You have to accept that football is played by human beings who have ups and downs like you have in your life.

“You have plenty of tacticians in the world who have managed zero games. You have to accept their opinion – they might be right, they might be wrong as well. They have to accept that.

“We live in a world where everybody has an opinion and we have to live with that. At the end of the day, somebody always has to make a decision and that’s the guy who is responsible.”

    -Arsene Wenger, Press conference.
    19th September 2014(today)

    1. Yes ok but we can agree that every human being who is working a job is mesuared by his work . He does good, he will get a reward and prais, he misses to fullfill his expecations, he will get a warning and sooner or later he will be fired.

You dont know what you are doing Arsene.

  5. Belarin, Monreal and Mert in the back 4?
Sorry but I can’t see that working.
Belarin has skills but is very inexperienced, Mert is as slow as and Monreal, despite a few better games, is still a week link.

Chambers as DM would be great BUT if he gets injured we are truly fryer tucked.
Our team selection now must take account not of the best or in form players but of Wengers ridiculous transfer window and the gaps it left inn the team, again.
Rambo isn’t playing badly, he is being played further forward by Wenger which is effecting his game.
The best team selection we could have is Wenger doing one to PSG or wherever.

    1. Agree.. This line up is shite..any team consisting of the slowest defender in the league spells danger..!
Campbell will be out of his depth because our inept manager doesn’t play him regularly enough ..
      Wenger must go!

        1. Erm
He was playing regularly in Greece hence he played ok at the World Cup!!!
I’m not saying he will be shite.. !

  6. So if one of our centre backs get injured, and Callum takes a knock where would that leave us? Poor article really.
Plus we already play a system where our current ‘left wideman’ ozil doesn’t chase back and look how that works. Plus ox in a central role with wilshire? I don’t see it.

I don’t think a front three is working for us. It should be ozil in the middle with two pacey runners either side and a striker ahead of him.
We need a strong DM to play along side Rambo or wilshire in the heart if midfield and we are sorted.

    1. So true. The problem is Bellerin is very inexperienced so I would play chambers at right back. Ox is winger so I dont know why people like him to play in the centre.

    2. “I don’t think a front three is working for us” – as we’ve never tried it how on earth could you possibly know? And why are you so sure 2 defenders will be injured at the same time?

  7. If not giving rest then I would go with

    ……………………..Szczesny
    Hector…Koscielny..Mertsacker…Gibbs
    ………………………Calum
    …………… Wilshere….Ramsey
    Sanchez…………Cazorla………Welbeck

  8. Here we have a squad of 80 000 per week players that stroll around the park looking good looking sexy looking cool for the millions that watch them as if they were in a fashion show

Meanwhile there are real players that get no pay while playing and play very well with their heart and soul and brain with no TV rights or thousands at the stands

I honestly believe that the soccer game has changed into a money scam rather than a sporting game where millions are turned from mass consumption with TV rights and product advertisements

    1. That’s just stereotyping and generalising. Do you know players personally? If someone offered you a job with more money, would you take it?

  9. 4-2-3-1

    …………………. Sczezney
    Chambers Mertesacker koscielny Gibbs
    ………………….Arteta Wilshere
    ………Oxlade Ozil Sanchez
    ………………………..Welbeck

  10. arsenal has £173 cash reserve in the bank and Wenger didn’t buy any defensive reinforcements chai …..Wenger is a mad man…God help us

    1. Lol just lol ..

Can’t be fxcked to laugh cry or be pxssed anymore

Love watching arsenal play .. But ain’t properly enjoyed watching the football in about 4years

    1. By the way, those cash reserves are before they transfer window so because of transfer fees, agent fees and other stuff, expect it to be around 100 million quid. By the way we have the same number of defenders as last year. We do need a holding midfielder but unfortunately there wasn’t anyone out there.

      1. @arsenalman365
Stop defending our greedy board. It’s fans like you that let them get away with daylight robbery. How many transfer windows have we all been asking for a world class striker to replace RVP.

      2. @arsenalman365 why would you say that when we all knew carvalho, bender Schneider Lin were available. Wenger is our problem.

        1. None of them were available other that Carvalho. Prove it. We spent 70 million quid net and the board are greedy :).

      3. @arsenalman365 why would you say that when we all knew carvalho, bender SchneiderLin,wanyama were available. Wenger is our problem.

        1. Bender wasn’t for sale and Leverkusen said that! Schneiderlin and certainly Wanyama weren’t for sale after Southampton sold half their team! Carvalho is 3rd part owned and costs 37 million quid After 1 good season! Tell me of these secret sources you have.

          1. The German club’s sporting director Rudi Voller has now stated that Bender is not going to be sold this summer.
‘Firstly, we have not received an official offer’, he told Kolner Stadt Anzeiger, as reported by Insidefutbol.com. ‘Secondly, Lars wants to stay with us. And although we recruited Hakan Calhanoglu, Bender is not for sale. We have big ambitions’.

The pair have been linked with moves to Tottenham, now managed by ex-Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Southampton have already sold five players this summer.
“Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin will be in our line-up as we move into next season,” Krueger told BBC Radio Solent. “They will not be sold.

Director Augusto Ignacio told Sporting TV: “It’s not like the old days when players left Sporting at any price.
“We are not concerned with William Carvalho because we have alternatives who will want to play as well.
“The termination clause ensures a great deal for Sporting. I am very pleased with the negotiations.”

Hope that shuts a few people up.

  11. the cheese eating surrender monkey has screwed up again we all know that now so we have to hope to get our real quality players performing to full potential that is ozil sanchez wishere carzola…i am not sure there is a combo with all four and at this moment wilshere and sanchez are the only ones looking pretty decent and as wellbeck needs to be integrated those positions are settled…i am a big ozil fan and really believe wenger is failing to get best out of him by playing him out of position so cant we play some kind of diamond with him at the top feeding to a front line of sanchez and wellbeck… for me neither flamini nor arteta add anything to the team so i think playing to attacking strengths is the only option right now…but its really a ridiculous state of affairs we have been left in…throwing caution to the wind i would go for

    bellerin chambers kos gibbs

    wilshere carzola ox

    ozil

    sanchez wellbeck

  12. You are all delusional and have no idea about tactics and football. The best line up Arsenal can possible play is like last year. Without Wilsher and Ramsey playing in the starting line up.

    ————Sczezney
    Chambers- Mertesacker- koscielny- Gibbs–
——–Arteta- Wilshere—– ( Or Flamini, or Ramsey) same.
——Walnut- Ozil- Sanchez ( Or Chamberlain, Rosicky, Wilsher, Poldi, Cambell )
————-Welbeck—- ( Giroud, Cambell, Sanchez, Poldi)
