An open letter of apology to Alexis Sanchez – from a diehard Arsenal fan

Dear Alexis Sanchez, by Mike Red

I am just one fan who loves Arsenal but I am sure what I say is also felt by more than a handful of true Arsenal fans. I have been an Arsenal supporter for 48 years, as was my father and grandfather before me and my children and grandchildren after me.

Now you can obviously see that us Gooners appreciate your efforts when we cheer you at every game, but it is not that easy for us to apologise to you in the middle of sixty thousand people which is the reason for this letter.

So here we go,
We are sorry that your winning mentality is not shared by anyone off the pitch.
We are sorry that you are the only one with passion and determination on the pitch
We are sorry that the priority at Arsenal is to make lots of money for a greedy owner instead of making sporting history by winning trophies
We are sorry that you have been left alone to run everywhere challenge for every ball and score every goal.
We are sorry that the person sitting on the bench has no idea how to manage a football team which leads to embarrassing results.
We are sorry that our chief exec can’t buy a world class player, even though this might be because he is a man city supporter and not a Gooner
We are sorry that we have players who run around like headless chickens and still get over 100k while you work ten times harder for a similar reward.

So even though this apology should be coming from the guys in suits making a killing off us fans, we apologise for letting you down on every level.

Just know, that whatever your decision is at the end of this season, it has been a privilege to see you wearing the Arsenal red and white shirt and we will always cherish the moments of brilliance you have given us.

Yours thankfully,
Mike

  1. sanchez is a humble person with the success and the passion to succeed.
he has literally been carrying arsenal as have other players done in the past.
I just wish him the best of luck in his career. Its useless to waste time and energy at the peak of your abilities when you can literally have greater success elsewhere.I hope all arsenal fans respect you wherever you decide to go

    1. I dnt agree. Sanchez is a part of the team. He is not above the team. If there are losses he is responsible as well. Look at his performance in chelsea. He gave the ball away almost every time. It is as if he doesn’t trust his teammates and wants to do everything on his own. Its a team game fr fks sake

      1. since last season the team plays sh*t and he is the only one trying to play like a machine, running like a f**l all over the pitch, trying to do everything (except goal keeping), that’s why he even tries a lot of things himself because the people he gives the ball to will do what they do best.

he gets tired, it’s normal for a human being. he doesn’t play the way he used when he arrived at the Emirates coz it’s pointless when you give 105% and your team mates give 20%, you get tired and lower your work rate as well.

it’s a team game that’s why he tries to assist and all, but the receiving end always fluffs the chances, what is he supposed to do? even imagining some of them gets paid higher wages than him.. I would have done the same, the whole world have been witnessing this and no one will blame him if he leaves, of course some of you AKBs will always be on your master’s side thus blaming Alexis for Wenger’s failures

  2. a very well written letter of apology from a very true arsenal fan . you have captured what most fans are thinking and going through right now . my only wish is that alexis would read your letter . we arsenal fans are not all like our manager, heartless and passionless. somebody please pass that article to alexis so he knows how the vast majority of us are thinking .

    1. @ger burke
Why don’t you go find the guy who wrote the letter, and rub one off with him. Since you’re so touched by it…

      1. thanks for the advice nybummer, i can but assume that you are speaking entirely from experience here , you got this buddy !!!.

        1. @ger burke
Says the guy playin pocket pool over a love letter, written by a guy to another guy…Own it dude. It’s 2017. You’re safe.

          1. hahahahaa bummer, you got this < right !?. you seem to be obsessed with male to male relationships there buddy. you wanna tell us something ?.

        2. I think all fans respect what Arsene Wengers done for us, every one wants to see him go out with respect and on a high, but most people don’t understand what he is doing at the moment.

  3. Just imagine where we’d be without Alexis…scary isn’t it! He gets MOTM almost every game, he’s the only one pressing, the only one scoring most of the time, and the only one with any real passion. We have literally become a “one man team”.

Wenger spends near £100 million, and it’s looking like his worst season ever, as the regression continues. What’s great is that the AKBs financial excuses have been completely destroyed by Wenger. For years I’ve had to listen to rubbish like “we cannot compete financially, so our struggles each season are acceptable”. Well how wrong were the AKBs and a lot of media types. Give Wenger WC players, lots of money, and even weaken all of our rivals with the constant managerial changes over the last three years, and STILL Wenger cannot even be competitive, let alone win!

  4. Am desperate to see wenger leave, he is dividing the fans, when he finally leaves sooner or later, all arsenal fans will have 1 voice and support our new manager and the team

    1. On the contrary, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the fan base so united. Save a few holdouts, even the most strident Wenger supporters I’ve spoken to today hope he walks away after this season.

  5. what a well written letter. what decision Alexis take will be the right one. if i was in his boots i will leave since mr stubborn still be manager. it will be a big disaster for our club but enough is enough. if he really loves the club as he says pls leave us in peace you and the board too = gooner for ever

  6. It has to be said that Sanchez himself has been underperforming in recent weeks. He was one of the, if not the worst player against Watford, and Chelsea. Yesterday, it was another poor PK attempt that was saved, but credit to him for not giving up and getting a goal. However… overall, he’s still our best player, and he’s still the ONLY one who cares (or at least it looks that way). He’s a natural leader, and winning is the only way he knows. Guys like Ramsey, Gibbs, Gabriel, Coquelin, Iwobi, Ozil (sorry, my love) have been extremely poor especially as of late, but the worst part is they play like they don’t give a rat’s arse. And it’s up to the manager to instill that fighting mentality back into them. I’m an AKB, but I just can’t defend Wenger anymore. Time has come for him to come out, apologize, and resign.

    1. he missed the penalty but gave his all to work on the rebound, if it was our boy Ozil, hehehe he would have been weeping and wouldn’t even try to work on the rebound. the difference between Sanchez and the rest of the players

  7. Wenger have too much faith in is players i have been saying it from the beginning of the season if Wolcott iwobi ozil Chamberlain Francis bellerin Gibbs monreal. giroud Ramsey. start for your team that means you have a very weak team we have no world class players at arsenal world class players preform with or without a good manger our players are weak as individually and collectively lack technical ability basic football qualities we don’t recognize good players a arsenal Jermaine defoe is a better a better center forward than Sanchez but we will never acknowledge it because we are blind on deluded

  8. The truth to this matter is Arsenal fc as a top football club is yet to be all-round staffed with the top quality players it should be staffed with as some of the players currently in their senior team playing for the club are average players. Hence, their inability to beat any of the Europe’s 8 super club side teams who are mostly staffed with top quality players and quality players whenever they play against any of them.

Only Sanchez, Ozil and Koscielny can be said to be the 3 top quality players at Arsenal. While Monreal,, Mustafi, Cazorla, Walcott, Welbeck and Perez are the 6 quality players we have at Arsenal and the rest are all average players.

I believe Arsenal are not yet financially strong to be signing many top quality players for our senior team like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester Utd, Manchester City, Jeventus, Chelsea and PSG have been signing and a result been winning titles internally and externally at regular interval in their season campaigns.

Therefore, save on a rare occasion when it could happen, we should not be too expectant to see Arsenal beat any of these 10 clubs I’ve named above. Because their squad are made of top quality and quality players. Unlike that of Arsenal which comprises of mixed, 3 tops quality players, 6 quality players and average players.

Arsenal can mostly be beating the lower club teams. And a times beat the teams of their equal strength.. But when they meet a team of a higher team strength above them, a problem could happen. But they may luckily win a times especially if their opponent higher team have a bad day game and Arsenal capitalize on their weakness on the day..
