Another wonder goal to see Nelson in Arsenal team against Cologne?

To be perfectly honest I would have liked to see the name of the up and coming young Gunner Reiss Nelson on the team sheet for today’s Premier League match against AFC Bournemouth, or at least see him in the matchday squad just in case the team is in need of inspiration later on.

But having played in the under 23 match away to Manchester United last night there is no chance Nelson will be involved again today. I expect that Arsene Wenger is getting very close to including the talented teenager in the Arsenal first team, though, especially after he carried on his great start to the season at Old Trafford.

Not only did the 17-year old score again, taking his tally so far to six goals from four under 23 games, his strike was a real belter of a free kick that opened the scoring and set the Arsenal academy side on the road to a 2-0 victory over Man United.

Wenger may still be reluctant to throw Nelson in at the deep end and play him in the Premier League, but Arsenal do have a home game against the German side Cologne in the Europa League coming up on Thursday and the manager has already stated his intention to focus on the EPL and play young and fringe players in Europe, so will Nelson be in the Arsenal team for Cologne? He better be.

    1. he has to be along with holding chambers iwobi walcott giroud and even Sanchez so he gets back to full fitness asap
My starting XI as follows :
      Ospina
      Holding Chambers Mert
      Bellerin Iwobi Elneny Kolasinac
      Walcott Nelson
      Giroud

  1. time we catapulted this youngster up to join the 1st team – man city seem to have no issue playing young blood and we should be doing the same. perhaps the plan is to bring him into the reckoning sometime later on this season: altho personally i cannot wait.

  2. I’d prefer him to start against Doncaster first. Europa League is important. It may be the only realistic way to get into Champions League. ld play many of the usual guys. Maybe start Giroud over Lacazette and start Wilshere or Coquelin and Ospina.

Against Doncaster we can play inexperienced and players who haven’t played enough ie. Nelson, Maitland-Niles , Adelaide, Akpom, Eleny, Debuchy, Iwobi, Wilshere etc

    1. You have a point… injuries are a worry.

It will also be important to think of a long term contract, or risk having the young man poached by a bigger club. EPL teams at the top now stash young players and keep them away from other clubs.

    2. This boy is good enough. Its high time we unleashed him to OX and Sanchez’s shame. Thats our Mbappe and Rashford and Dembele right there. There is no need saving him. 17 is the new 23 in today’s world. Lets start unleashing him, Joe Willock and Nketiah so we can wish Mbappe and the likes good riddance next season. If we develop these three properly we will have 500 Million pounds player in the 3 within 3 years. I rate AMN and Bielik highly too.

  3. for the little time I have seen this young lad playing,I can’t wait to see him in the senior team because he is a real menace
