Are Arsenal finally helping loyal match-day fans?

After years of Arsenal fans complaining about paying the highest prices in Europe to watch our beloved team, it would seem that the management have finally realised that they must stop squeezing cash out of the loyal match-day fans.

They have frozen ticket prices for home games not just for this season but for next season as well. The Arsenal Independent Supporters Club have long campaigned for the rights of season ticket holders made this announcement after talks with the club.

Arsenal announce two-year ticket price freeze
Arsenal have announced that they are freezing all general admission season ticket and match ticket prices for the next two seasons i.e. for 2016/17 and 2017/18.

The club is also providing an additional £4 discount to Arsenal supporters attending away Premier League matches, in addition to the £30 cap on away tickets announced by the Premier League.

This will ensure Arsenal fans will pay a maximum of £26 when travelling to away Premier League matches.

AISA has welcomed the news and has urged the Club to continue to extend and develop its support for fans, and particularly to look at how it recognises and rewards the loyalty of all fans who support the team both home and away.

That is good news for Arsenal fans, and especially away supporters from all clubs. Considering that 90% of the club’s income comes from TV rights and sponsors, there is no reason why Arsenal can’t make things even easier for match-day fans in the future…..

  1. Now that explains why theres extra penny pinching going on in the transfer market.

A little bit of give and take, Hey? ?

      1. Wenger scared of retiring from football? Ok why not step down from Arsenal and get a contract from the France Football National team to keep going. Atleast no-one will force you to spend and the transfer window never get to dare you again.

        1. Wenger as the France head coach? Giroud would be leading the line still at 45 years old LOL.

And I’m sure Wenger somehow would manage to get Ramsey in the starting line up as well.

      2. ?
Yes, but surely most fans would rather pay an extra Fiver! To watch a new striker doing the Slick moves on the pitch instead? ?

          1. Hahaha ?
There’s always one, I knew that was coming! Hahaha ?

            Okay..
            £5 × 60,000 = £300,000 ( that would have covered Ibrahimovic’s wages)

Theres 19 home league games per season:
            19 × £300,000 = £5,700,000.
            Times that by a 5 year contract = £28,500,000.
Plus theres champions league and other cup games that would bump it up another couple of million.

That figure does seem to be around Wenger’s valuation for a top top player, nowadays lol ? ?

            1. Fatboy, another way of looking at it and taking salary in to account is as follows.

A very top striker would cost say £75m plus £250k pw. That is £140m over five years or £28m per year. Matchday revenue is £100m per year so a top striker could be purchased by increasing ticket prices by about 30%.

Anyway, same answer, a fiver will not do it.

              1. Fair enough, but how about we take it out of the increased revenue from the shiny new TV deal.

      3. slick move? when will the board realize Arsenal are still priced at the top of match-day tickets, and making the club not worth watching in hope of winning trophies anymore!

      4. The only thing that’s going to stop the fan’s anger is a decent striker signing. Cut price prawn sandwiches just won’t do it.

  2. If 90% of our income comes from tv rights and sponsors then only 10% comes from ticket sales and merchandise, why did we bother to build the emirates?.

I think the figure is more like 30% from ticket sales alone.

    1. The gate receipts probably covers the monthly wage bills for all 600 employees ( including Wenger and the players)
Better make that 599… someone handed in his notice the other day… shame it wasn’t Wenger! ?

An average of 2 home fixtures a month, must make over £2 million? … I’m not 100% sure.

    2. Here are the figures

Gate and other match day revenues £100.4m
      Broadcasting. £124.8m
      Retail and licensing £24.6m
      Commercial £78.6m
      Total £328.4m

So gate and other match day revenues are juat over 30 %

      1. I would have thought commercial would be the largest income after broadcasting, or maybe even more than broadcasting, because broadcasters earn their money through advertisement. Thanks for the info.

    1. @nikk
Why not, every other product is doing it…And have been for longer than AFC, and getting away with it, without protests against…

  3. Sorry for the double post. Atleast 8 days to the close of this shambolic transfer window! Even worser than last summer’s in the sense I was very hopeful after that early Xhaka capture.

  4. It’s quite about Arsenal transfer window… Either they are in the real mess or they are up to something… But if we dont buy a striker and I mean a real superstar, Arsenal fans should forbidden Arsene Wenger access to the Emirates stadium!!!

  5. I think he’ll get loads of job offers, Id be surprised if he just quit altogether. Can’t wait to see our all star Arsenal taking on the Milan side. Henry and Bergkamp will still look better up front than what we’ve seen recently, and Vieira Petit, as they say ..oo! la! la!! ..or will it be Gilberto/Platt. Keown will still be a dog with a bone to chew, a big nasty dog. Seaman, I hope he takes his locks with him, he keeps them in his top draw along with every save he’s ever made ..lol.

  6. It’s nice there’s a discount on away games, but the majority of fans will want to see Arsenal play at home, and the home tickets are ridiculous! Yes they may freeze the price for two seasons, but what stops them bumping it up another 5 or 10% afterwards!

If Arsenal are not going to reinvest the fans money into the squad, then I’d like to see a big reduction in ticket pricing, merchandise, and food and beverages on match days.
