Are Arsenal giving up on Mesut Ozil contract talks?

Arsenal are claimed to be resigned to losing Mesut Ozil before next season, with talks believed to have gone south.

The German international has failed to agree terms on a contract extension over the past year, and with his current deal set to expire come the end of the campaign, he looks ever likely to be leaving the club.

Inter Milan are said to be keen on a deal to bring him to Italy in the January transfer window, and the Gunners could well be persuaded to cash-in as opposed to losing him for free come the end of the season.

Manchester United and Barcelona have also been linked with moves to sign the playmaker in recent windows, and could well be keen on a potential free transfer move next summer, but should the Italians make a move to sign him come January, they may well be forced to consider their stance.

Ozil is claimed to be holding out for £400,000 per week in order to sign a new deal at Arsenal, although I struggle to believe that any of his potential suitors would be willing to pay him such a hefty wage either.

The 28 year-old has been quiet on his future since the close of the transfer window, but previously intimated that his intention was to stay with the club, and that he was certainly happy to be playing at the Emirates, but that seems rather hard to believe considering how long it has already taken to try and persuade him to extend his stay in North-London.

Does Ozil still want to stay? Will he get £400,000 per week to join another European club?

  1. I think that 400K salary demand is a bullshit news. Only a Chinese club would be willing to give him that kind of salary, and Ozil would be very lucky if he gets that kind of offer from a rich Chinese club.

Ozil and Sanchez basically have similar urgency. They are almost thirty years old, so they must get the best offer at the end of this season, either for career or money.

  2. If he was going to sign he would have by now. We should have sold him in the summer so we got some real money for him.

  3. Sanchez..

    Now Ozil.

I think we got things messed up.

If I were in Wengers shoes, I would have done something drastic after last season especially seeing the fans on his neck a lot last season.

Wenger won the Emirates cup, signed a two year deal. I would have had meetings with the players. Sell deadwood. Ask players like ozil Sanchez Giroud ox and the likes to know if they still wanna be at the club. If anyone says they wanna leave, SeLL and get a replacement. Be ruthless for once. I don’t know if He actually did that but that’s what I would have done…unfortinately, I m not Wenger and He has more footballing experience than me.

Look at Conte and Costa. Yes, you may say He is better than Morata arguably but Chelsea and Conte had to get rid of Him and got a replacement willing to play for the club.

I love Arsenal and I m a passionate fan. I m only vexed when things are untidy as this..

  4. Stoke made us look so average, but they were beaten 4 today, are we really fighting for the title or just to qualify for 4th?

    1. Burnley were 3-0 up against Chelsea at Stanford Bridge, eventually winning 3-2. Is Chelsea really fighting for the title or just to qualify for 4th?

    2. In addition, how on earth did Burnley make Arsenal so average in a game Arsenal dominated? This was a game in which Arsenal recorded their highest possession in a league game since 2004. Some fans love to live a sad life and bring all negativity to make that happen.

  5. Morata scores, Lukaku scores, Aguero scores and all play 90 minutes meanwhile Arsene is already preparing to sub off Lacazette… FFS let him finish the 90′ Arsene !!!!

    1. Didn’t Wenger explain why he has, subbed Laca off? Of course the explanation was total rubbish.

Our GD is now 20 goals worse than the leaders City. I wonder when do we start scoring?

    2. Yup, looks like we got the shit striker.
      Morata hatrick today.
      Kane 2 today.
      Lukaku scores again today.
      Sterling 2 today.
Aguero again today, well, been scoring for years at City.
Laca, admittedly not getting enough games but when he plays, also not getting many goals.

      1. Bit harsh on Lacazette. Has done well considering lack of opportunities given to him by Wenger and his team mates compared to the strikers you mention.

  6. If arsenal sell ozil and sanchez, they should be replaced by one of these players, shaqiri, lanzini or Joe allen
