Arsenal 2018/19 Full fixture list – Are they having a laugh?

So Arsenal’s full fixture list for 2018/19 has finally been published, and the EPL is hardly set to make it an easy start for Unai Emery in his first season in the Premier League as our very first fixture is against Champions Manchester City at the Emirates, who only lost two games in the whole of last season and are expected to be even stronger this time around.

Then again it could be a good test to see if we can not concede three goals against them!

Chelsea at the Bridge is straight after, and no-one knows how they will be feeling after all their recent turmoil, but perhaps we should just be dreaming about how we will be feeling if we win both of them.

As usual the Gunners have an easy run in to the end of the season to try and regain fourth place (haha!) and it is interesting that Burnley away is our final game again. Will we be saying goodbye to another manager? (only joking, honestly…)

    1. Perfect time for Emery to recall what made his PSG beaten by Guardiola

He has the experience and let’s see how he adopts his strategy for Arsenal’s first EPL match

      1. Ahh..yes, but ocourse will be more at ease once we see them on the official website. But tell me though, any truth to those Luiz rumours doing the rounds?

    2. Ì share your view. The only player we will need will be Monreal but we have a ready replacement in Kalashinack. We can do without Ozil, Iwobi and Elneny.

  1. End of season looks like a really good chance to get
back into the top four with the run in fixtures from 9th March v UTD, from then onwards we have no excuses not to go on a run until the end of season.

Start the season with City then Chelsea, not the best but you have to play them sometime &getting these 2dixtures out if the way come September isn’t a bad thing boomers. Draw with City at best &we can beat Chelsea in my opinion.

Cannot wait until August! C’mon Unai make these gunners ready for a battle with the big guns in the league right from the get go.

    1. Was thinking the same, very good run in can’t complain with that. But that start, with new players and new rearguard maybe new keeper it will be tough. If we can beat one of them that would have to do. Other than those two, only once more we’ll get two top clubs in a row. Though City and Che come up again close to one another with game sandwiched between them. Fixtures don’t look too bad though, a decent start and it will seem even better.

    1. Gotze is average now and constantly injured. Hope it doesn’t go through. I’m also getting tired of the Dortmund players as well. Sven really milking that connection, lol. Get us Weigl and I’ll get excited bout a Dortmund signing again.

  2. City and Chelsea will have a
    mountain of world cup players
    recovering so we should hit
    them at their weakest.
We only have 2 tough games in a row 3 times
while the other 32 games are evenly spread.
Last 8 are soft games meaning the Europa League
becomes more of a possibility as long as we avoid Chelsea.
    Overall a very favourable draw.

    1. barryglik,
At last a post where you and I seem to agree!!
The only thing I find puzzling is your fear of meeting Chelsea in any cup competition!
We did them in the fa cup final, the Community shield and then the Carabo semi final over two legs.
That was under the old regime, so I’m hoping that under Emery’s guidance we can do even better…hang on though, we can’t really can we?

  3. Last 14 games include just 3 top 6 teams and last 8 games are all basically lower half of the table. No game is easy obviously (especially at the end of the season) and it’s very unlikely we’ll be in the title race, but top 4 looks a real possibility with that run-in… Sept, Oct and Nov only includes Liverpool and so again another chance to put a run together, ready for a nightmare December! Nightmare start obviously, but i think this fixture list isn’t as bad as it looks…

  4. Good run in at end of season. If they fight and are up there late in the season they may challenge. Opener against Man City is good. Will show us what we are capable of. If we don’t get a result then there is a chance to regroup. With this fixture list we will quickly find out whether our team is up with the best. Looking forward to seeing a better defence and Aubamayang and Lacazette together.

    1. If we do manage even to be a fourth best defence, Aubameyang and Lacazette can really make a difference because clinical touch is why Fergie was so dominant. Monsters at fighting but the clinical strikers they had gave them that treble. We had one clinical striker, Henry, then it was RVP, now we have two.

  5. Our Head Coach should try to avoid defeat in first match by signing quality player.

    1. Should tell Torriera to go easy on De Bryne, we need to give city a chance or it could become embarrassing for them!!!!!!! We should also tell Lichsteiner not to school Sterling too much, save some for Bellerin in training.

  6. viva gunners we wanna be faced the champions viva arsenal viva gunners viva arsenal fc somali fans

  7. They are trying to take advantage of us having a new manager by drawing attention to our first two games. I think we can win those games because of the amount of players who would be tired from the world cup for man city and chelsea while we have only a few. If we win those two games or win and draw one, it will set us up perfectly for a top four challenge and if the players adapt faster, maybe even a title challenge.

  8. First PL game for Emery at the Emirates. it surely will be buzzing with all our new signings. Pep thinks he’s just gonna come ant attack us on our home ground as surely they will be over confident and I might take a game or 2 for them to get going too as they might have new signings and last year means nothing so bring it on!

  9. Im actually hoping that we are able to get all our new summer signings for the preseason, though some because of the world cup will definitely miss it. However, i actually fancy our chances with Man City because from the get go, we know how they play and they are “calculating how we play plus most of their first team players are away, some with teams that are tipped to go far inthe competition so i expect a lot of them to still be “ unavailable” as they get extended holidays and being “rushed” for those that make it.

But even if we do lose(hope we dont), i want to do so with fight and dignity. 1-0 or 2-1 and actually show we inthe game. Just hope LENO, Torreira, Sokratis, and Martins will be in Gunner shirts. I want Soyuncu but struggling to see how that works financially unless we sell( hoping its not Chambers).

Kev come give us controversial weekly news to get me to next week. I look forward to Kev updates and the drama that comes after that from the Anti-Kev guys.

  10. Now who wouldn’t want Martial over iwobi or welbeck? If that happens it’ll be the biggest robbery we did over United?, throw to them a Sanchez and we get Mkhitaryan and martial.. .

    1. Yes, its these kind of deals based on which our ruthlessness will be tested like we stole cech from chelsea in 2015. if this transfer happens it will be a statement

  11. Better to face city early in the season anyways. Hard start and I won’t blame emery if he doesn’t pick up wins first two matches. There was always going to be a adjustment period. I hope to at least see us going in a positive direction. Also let’s not forget last time Chelsea won the league they had a horrible start. (Not that I think we’ll win league). This is not a wenger side anymore guys. There’s reason to have some hope of doing well these games

    1. RSH, didn’t we beat Chelsea last year in the Carabo cup and draw with them home and away?
Yes, like every other team except Liverpool, we were second best to City.
Would you be so obliging if we lost the first two games under the old manager?
I personally think that, if the players we are supposedly signed up materialize, then their is no reason we shouldn’t beat them both AND be in contention for the premiership!

  12. There isnt a better time to play City and Chels, most of their players will be tired from the WC. and anyone slating Torriera for size has no clue about football the guy looks like a winner thats enough for me

  13. Listening to TalkSport just before 9 am today, from the comments of doom about our (as then , unknown to us fixtures) you would have thought we had Real Madrid, Barca, Brazil circa 1970 to play , all away so doom mongering was that IDIOT ALAN BRAZIL. IN FACT WE GET TWO TOP TEAMS OUT OF THE WAY WHEN THE SEASON IS STARTING AND OUR PLAYERS WILL BE FAR LESS WORLD CUP WEARY THAN THEIRS. IT HAS WORKED OUT WELL. SHOWS HOW LITTLE PROPER THOUGHT OFTEN GOES INTO COMMENTS COMING FROM TALK SPORT AND THE NONE TOO BRIGHT ALAN BRAZIL , ESPECIALLY.

    1. Jon
Didn’t hear the comments personally, as I am still in Toronto, but agree 100% with your views about talk sport presenters.
The worst of the lot is Adrian Durham, one of the most egotistical men I have ever listened too.
I just don’t listen to the station anymore, rather watch paint dry.

      1. By the way Jon, I believe that the two opening fixtures are perfect for the new look Arsenal just as long as the reported signings are factual and not just media rumours.
The stadium will be buzzing and we most certainly have a point to prove!!!

        1. I agree, perfect time to play both teams. City before they hit their stride and Chelsea still in chaos. We might surprise everyone and get 6 points out of the first two games, imagine the lift and belief that would give to the whole club.

      2. You’re right Ken, he’s a real bigmouth. Hates Arsenal and in particular, Mesut Ozil. He appears to be a Chelsea supporter (never slags them off), am I right? As for his mate Darren Gough, he’s even worse and like you I have stopped listening to their combined drivel.

  14. City have more than 11 players going to the world cup and over 6 whose teams may go all the way and would subsequently nee extra time for resuscitation. Chelsea also have over 6 players as well participating in the mundial.
Most of our first team players except Ozil, Xhaka, Welbeck, Monreal and ‘Torriera’ would have had a good preseason and would b in peak physical condition.
We should aim for a minimum of 2 points from those two matches and an optimistic 4 points if we do exceptionally well. 6 points is a dream too far.

  15. We have few impact players that are Arsenal starting X1 at the World Cup – at least those that we’re not selling (Monreal, Ozil, Iwobi & Elneny probably won’t be sold – Ospina, Xhaka & Welbeck to be sold)

That leaves the World Cup absentees Aubameyang, Lacazette, Sokatris, Bellerin, Leno, Ramsey, Soyuncu, Holding, Kolasinac, AMN, Reiss Nelson and any other players who will be 100% fresh and fit.

In addition, we have a new coach with new tactics for his new club whom no manager (Pep & new Chelsea manager) will have had time to study. On top of that, new players who’s performance at Arsenal is unknown.

People will talk of how Unai never won a game against Pep & Mourinho during his time in Spain with Sevilla but seriously, if you have 2 of the best managers in the world coaching 2 of the best teams in the world what do you expect when you’re coaching a 2nd rate side like Sevilla? His odds against Pep would have been different had he been coaching R.Madrid or against Mourinho had he been coaching Barcelona at that time.

The way I see it, we can get 5 points (2W 1D) from the first 3 games which isn’t that bad considering the calibre of the opposition we have. I’m more scared of West Ham because they’re in a similar position to us while i feel Chelsea is in chaos, at least for the first 2 months but will pick up (like that season they won the league after a dismal start). 5 points is good because every team is going to have to play each other at some point and someone or both of them have to drop points.

Plus I feel the whole EPL is going to be ganging up on Man City just to stop their dominance.

  16. If Wenger was in charge, we wouldnt even be hoping. I like knowing we will be a different proposition.

@Gunner, i agree with you about West Ham. Another side i also think people should be wary of is Wolves. Some of the monies they are spending/ intending to and some of the names they are being linked to, i dont see them being part of the relegation battle at all.

  17. It is known when a new inmate enters prison to earn respect he has to beat the crap out of the BADDEST inmate in that cell, so i will liken this to the arsenal situation in the first two matches the new season, Let us beat the crap out of Mancity and Chelsea and the other teams will look at us in fear.

A major plus is none of our top strikers is at the world cup, our defensive line also not at world cup (other than Monreal), our weakest point would be our midfield, but using AMN and another fleet-footed personnel could solve that situation

  18. Think the fixture list is great for us .. look at the graffic on Arsenal.com and it is clearer how the run of matches pan’s out …
…even tenpted to put a cheeky 10er on a league win for us 😉

  19. It’s better to start with citeh and chelsea early…. When their respective teams are yet to balance because of world hangover,
Secondly, in the past few seasons, champions tend to struggle in the first matches of the season.. We can do it, unai

  20. A pretty good test I must say for d 1st two games, I hope we get 4 points at least. On the overall, the fixture isn’t a bad 1
