Arsenal already blown out of Mbappe transfer race by Man Utd?

If this latest little bit of transfer news from the Premier League is true then I reckon that Arsenal fans can stop thinking about the signing of the exciting young striker Kylian Mbappe, unless our club performs a dramatic U-turn in the way we conduct our transfer business that is.

Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board can point to the fact that they have started to spend decent money on players in recent years, with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi all cosying more than £30 million, but we are still lagging behind the big spending clubs in the EPL and elsewhere.

So with Metro reporting that our EPL rivals Manchester United have already had a transfer bid of around £70 million turned down by Mbappe’s current club AS Monaco, you would think that the Gunners would have to double the price we paid for the record transfer of Ozil and that would only get us in the mix.

The report also claims that United have gone back with a bigger bid close to the world record fee they paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer. So is that the end of Arsenal hopes of signing this young striker? And will this be the shape of the summer transfer window in general for us?

  1. The good thing with having Ozil and Sanchez is that we can afford anyone. Or almost.

We could buy Griezmann, Mbappe, Cavani, Rabiot, and even Ross Barkley 😉

  2. The Express are saying they’ve agreed £86 million for Griezman!

Of course, both of these giants of the printed media are known for their accuracy in the transfer rumour mill.

The easiest way to decide this is; Eeny meeny miny moe………………………..

  3. I think we are blown out of the race not by UTD but by cheaper options… I can not see the Arsenal board paying that much when Lacazette has better stats and will be cheaper.

TBH I don’t think I would want them too either, we have some great youth prospects and we are kinda now needing the more complete player.
Mavididi will be back fit next season and he looks a real talent, I would be happier with Lacazette and some trust shown in Mavididi than spending twice that amount on Mbappe.
