Arsenal boss adamant that Alexis stays this season

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made his intentions clear that he believes Alexis Sanchez will be staying with the club into the new season.

The Chilean international has been one of the most talked about transfer sagas of 2017, with his contract running into it’s final 12 months of late, and after a number of links to Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and now Paris Saint-Germain, Wenger has moved to rule out his exit.

“My mind has been made up for a while now. I think I’ve made it clear a few times that this is my stance (he will stay at Arsenal),” said Wenger.

“Alexis has got one year to go on his contract and we have no need to make money. He will be part of the team next season. We want to keep our best players. Has he asked to leave? No.”

When asked if he suspected his players had been tapped up recently, he smiled and said: “What do you think?

“If you have top players you cannot stop it from happening. It’s frustrating but you’ve got to fight against it.

“Honestly, it is a problem but how can you check when an agent meets a director from another club or which player speaks to who?

“We are respectful with the clubs. We ask them what they want to do and if they don’t want to sell then we don’t insist. For some, that is where the difference is.”

I’m sure the latest quote won’t end the speculation completely, and I can already see the next gossip line coming to claim that Alexis will hand in a transfer request in a couple of weeks, I just hope that the reports are false, but we are used to the rumour mill right?

Will Alexis be happy to run down his contract? Will his attitude prove a problem for us this term? Could he even sign a new deal?

  1. Pathetic that some Arsenal fans complain when we sell our best players(RVP scenary) and also complain when Arsene is trying to let Alexis run down his contract. So many plastic fans we got like they are gonna benefit from the fee if we sell him. Not that there is any player that we will even use the money to buy, nowadays that clubs doesn’t want to part with their average players. Keep Sanchez contract or no contract.

  2. If PSG want to mess around then we need to up the pressure on them and beat their bid for Neymar.

    1. Hahahaha ?? that’s hilarious ??
Mate, You’re smoking stronger weed than Wenger, that’s for sure. The old fart stated that PSG are only signing Neymar because Sanchez isn’t leaving Arsenal. ?? that’s ridiculously beyond jokes!

  3. Whether he wants or not now, Arsenal must keep him for 1 year at leat even if it means he goes for nothing. Without him we can not even get that top 4. Two years without CL will be devastating for the club. If we get back to the top 4, we will get 25 Million which is 50% of the price we get from selling him. Lacazzate/ One more new signing needs time to settle in a new league, Without Snachez we will be out of the league by Novemeber.
    Keeping Sancez is a must.
Plus we need 2 addition- Lemar/Mafrez and Carvallio
The we are in good postion

  4. Please, Why don’t you drop the Alexis issue? Wenger has made it clear that Sanchez is staying put for at least a season more severally, yet you keep speculating about his future. Why? Today Chelsea, tomorrow Manchester United, the other Man City, now PSG. We are sick and tired of this. You media cause more havoc than necessary, Why don’t you talk on a better thing?

    1. Marcus looks like you are not following Arsenal Wenger Properly, Wenger told this 6 times with 6 different players alreday and all were sold. Henry, Adebayor, nasri, fabrigas, RVP and Sanya.
We do not trust Wenger , when it comes to making money. Ireally pray that History does not repeat itself.
Until the window is closed, all the Arsenal fans will be nervous. This is common

      1. Sure Sunny, there is no doubt about the fact that Wenger’s words don’t hold water, but the panicking cause by the speculations is more dangerous than the real deal itself. They don’t help the situation. They have already linked arsenal with almost 90 players this summer alone. 97.5% of the news on Arsenal blogs are fake, mare speculations. The craziest thing is that, they carry them as if they are authentic. Bayern, Milan, Man United, Man city, Chelsea, and now PSG. If they have 2 real news in a day, why don’t they feed us with that instead of polishing lies and cooking stories for us? Let’s believe that he’s not leaving as Mr Wenger said. Let’s believe that he’s going to honour his words this time around., But if he eventually leaves, so be it. Life goes on. Let’s stop pushing him away with our own blogs

  5. I think arsenal should get a replacement either he stays or leave his efficiency may not be as it were. Get someone to understudy him, have him sign new contract, then sell him off next season.
The little boy inside me says he will leave this summer

  6. If Wenger wants to hold onto Sanchez then fine…if he can convince him to give 100 percent throughout the next season then we will have a shot at…maybe top 4. If we add 3 more quality players and unload our deadwood then the league trophy might be possible.

  7. One thing i don’t understandin abt d fans is d way we talk. Some yrs ago wenger sold Vanpersie, nasri n oda bcuz d were in d last yr of their contract couple wit our financial instability this time around he spoken he won’t sell Sanchez cuz we nid him in oda to win something but fans won’t allow us to rest wit fake news. Wenger said time without number sanchez isn’t for sale ,y can’t we rest.. Fortnight ago it ws sanchez has agree terms to Join man city , last week it ws sanchez on d verge of joining BAYERN MUNICH dis week it is PSG.. I don’t no if media and d haters won’t to force him out and sell in onbehalf of Arsenal

  8. KEEP HIM….SELL WALCOTT,WELBECK LUCAS AND OX
….BUY LEMAR CAVELHO AND GORETZKA AND WE GUD TO GO…

  9. The question of whether to sell Alexis, or indeed any other player, depends on what is done in addition to that.

If he is sold to a rival EPL club for a relatively modest fee, and we don’t buy a good-enough replacement (Like with RVP) then it’s very damaging to the club. However if Alexis is likely to be a problem in the dressing room with only 1 year left on his contract, then selling him abroad for £70m and buying a younger top-quality replacement would be an excellent idea.

When top teams lose top players, they buy suitable replacements & rebuild, then come back to their top status. Why can’t Arsenal do that?

    1. In fact you don’t even have to be a top team. Spuds lost Luca Modric and Gareth Bale, and now they’re better than we are!!! It all depends on what else the club is doing in terms of management and transfers.

      1. i think the suds were lucky last season that they did not suffer injuries like most clubs did, they didn’t take Thursday night games serious in case of injuries, they were doing exceptionally well in the epl so it was their main concentration above all other cups, however its quite amazing that they have not lost their top players even doe they are building their new stadium, they must of learnt from our mistakes if so hats off

        1. interesting article in the Telegraph news paper list of injury table of the EPL

Arsenal 51 injuries total cost of over 16 million 3rd highest
Spuds 32 injuries total cost of over 8 million 10th highest

  10. If he keeps Sanchez I will be impressed
But we need a massive signing in midfield either a santi replacement or a midfield enforcer

Personally I would go with Goretzka who can do everything

    1. keep Sanchez ( unless we get huge fee from outside epl ) sell a few foreign players + one or two English to generate what we paid for Lacazette and what with 150 million mentioned war chest get two WC players one being replacement for Santi Cazorla and much missed Thomas Rosicky

we need to get back to playing sexy football again but with better scoring and defending

  11. There are no good options when it comes to Sanchez unless he signs the contract we have offered, which he doesn’t want to do. Sell him to PSG and we struggle on the pitch. Keep him till the end of his contract and he signs for our rival on a free transfer. This is one nightmare we are going to be stuck with for a while. All we are left to do now is to beef up on our squad with good buys like Lemar etc and hope that one or two of them are able to rise to the occasion when Sanchez eventually leaves. Personally, I want Sanchez gone like last week so we can move on. But after watching Chelsea tear us apart in preseason, I worry for life without him. He will be very difficult to replace. The only players that can replace him are guys like Neymar and Ronaldo and they are basically out of reach.

    1. Sanchez is good butnot at the level of Ronaldo or Neymar…we can move forward without him..its not like he has a 100 percent win rate with Arsenal when he’s on the pitch.

  12. People drop all this nonsense about attitude, Alexis loves to play football and thats exactly what he’ll do if he stays at arsenal. There were issues last season but his commitment on the pitch was never in doubt so calm down

    1. Bigperf i don’t think his commitment was ever an issue but he might of been piss1ng of his other team mates, i don’t see any of our players trying to persuade him to stay like Messi and Suarez did with Neymar

  13. Wtf? ?? Looks like The Summer Boot Camp are giving the special kids free internet time today ?
