Arsenal boss confirms interest in coveted international midfielder

Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in N’Golo Kante this summer, whilst praising his performances this season.

The Leicester midfielder is considered one of the most influential players of his club’s Premier League winning campaign, and is believed to be a likely target for a number of top clubs.

Arsenal have been tipped with a strong interest, while Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also among those supposedly keen on his signature.

Kante himself has talked up a potential exit this summer, refusing to commit himself to the Foxes cause beyond this season, and the latest speculation is insisting that his contract holds a £20.1 Million release clause.

That sort of fee would be no problem for any of those teams above, and given his performances this year, that sort of price would be considered a bargain.

Wenger praised the France international’s season, whilst refusing to talk too much about a player who is contractually obliged to a fellow PL club.

He said: “I think he will play in the European Championships and for me he was one of the players of the year in the Premier League.

‘I cannot tell you anything now. He is under contract with Leicester. I am sure if Leicester want to sell him, they will find some buyer.’

There has been much talk about Kante leaving, and he looks almost certain to be the first Fox to confirm he will be looking to move to a bigger club this summer.

He would be a perfect fit for the system we play, and I believe he would be open to joining us.

I try not to get over-confident that we are going to do the right business and bring Kante to North-London, but with Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta out of contract this summer, surely THIS is one target who has to be top of the list to replace them…

  1. N’golo kante will be a very good signing to acquire, if this story turns out to be true!

    1. I doubt any of Leicester players who’s not sign contract extension this season have 20 M pounds in their release clause. That’s so BS. His price will going sky high during “the auction”. Maybe it can be over 20 M. Kante is a big deal CDM we need to compete with Coquelin. Time for Arsene to show his lost intelligent here.

  2. Coquelin, Elneny, Cazorla, Wilshere and Ramsey need competition because Wilshere is injury prone. Ramsey is very inconsistent and poor this season. Elneny will play in ACN in January.

  3. Good god do I hope we sign Kante. But as ever, I’m resided to disappointment. Nonetheless, it’s odd for Wenger to signal any interest in a player. Normally it’s just ‘no’.

  4. How does this confirm anything ? Remember the Higuain saga ? Or the Draxler rumours ?

  5. Wenger shows “interest” in acquiring this player. And I am “interested” in flapping my arms and flying to the moon.

Which one is the more likely? Close call.

  6. I reckon Kante would like to play for Arsenal, we have a rich history of French Internationals. He will know some ex Gunners who talk about the days. Arsene only having one season left on his contract might be a stumbling block, I think the biggest stumbling block will be if Pep is interested in this player.

    1. I care less about Kante and other top players available. the only signing we need is a new manager. Maybe Wenger should become the director of football at the end of this season. while we employ someone like Bilic as the manager. Wenger failed us this season by failing to sign an outfield player in the summer. We could have signed Wanyanma and Chicharito in the summer. The league was there for the taking. When Coq was injured, we began to have issues. Overplaying Carzola and Sanchez. showing favouritism, benching Campbell, no passion. outdated tactics. Next season will be tougher with the likes of Conte, Klopp, Pep, Pochetino, Ranieri and possibly Mou. Bilic did well for Westham this season. His team was difficult to beat. he is the deal.
