Arsenal boss enjoys moany Mourinho rant about spending

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has sniped at the recent rant by rival manager Jose Mourinho. The Manchester United boss recently insisted that his side had not spent enough money to challenge runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City following his side’s failure to beat Burnley on Boxing Day.

His side earned a 2-2 draw at home to the Clarets after succumbing to a two-goal deficit inside the first half, but the manager could not contain his frustrations.

Arsene Wenger has now sniped at his rival, who previously described our manager as a ‘specialist in failure’, claiming that he has been in a similar position for his entire time with the Gunners.

“I have been in that position for 21 years so I can’t start to complain now,” Wenger said of Mourinho’s frustrations with Manchester City flexing their financial muscles. “There have always been three or four teams richer than I am. I’ve learned to cope with that.

“We deal with our own situation as well as we can. Man City, Chelsea and Man United are all richer than us. You have to find ways to be successful.”

Mourinho is crazy to complain about the budget which he has been given to work with when you consider the splurge he has gone on since joining the Red Devils, including £180 Million being spent on only two players.

The Portuguese has allowed his team to become unbalanced, and with signings such as Matteo Darmian and Lindelof failing to prove their worth to the side, he should only blame the team tasked with such dealings.

Is Wenger enjoying the rant from Mourinho a little too much? Is Mourinho mad to complain about spending when his side is only struggling because his signings were not up to scratch? Should our manager complain about the money at his disposal?

  1. Wenger getting involved in things that don’t concern him yet again.

How about he spends less time worrying about Mou and focuses on fixing our defence and sorting out contracts.

    1. Or…………

Mourinho called Wenger’s comments a voyeur yet Mourinho – no for the first time – has his eyes set on Pep. Mourinho got whipped by Pep two leagues in a row.

Specialist in failure? Did he not out a time limit in winning a major trophy? How many was it? He lost a season at Chelsea and 2 in at Manure. Didn’t he day he would leave voluntarily? Well let’s hope so because he only has 1 season left to change that.

    2. He was probably asked in a pre match interview with the United loving press! They want everything to be about United. Wenger probably just answered a question honestly and it’s the one thing the media jump on, and then feed to mindless sheep like you!

      1. Now we mindless sheep because to don’t worship the deluded one.

While you worship mediocrity I want better for the club.

    3. @Eat Pie
You are exactly right. Wenger takes the bait AGAIN, like he always does. Why can’t he just ignore Jose like he ignores us fans?

2015 Wenger got cech and no one else of significance, even tho we needed cdm, winger, and striker. Wenger had money, but chose not to spend (again). Who’s responsible, Jose, agents, clubs bank account, market? No, Wenger.

This summer Arsenal made profit in transfer window. Who was responsible for that shambles of a Lemar situation? The 2 month bidding process of Wengers dithering saw bids range from £30 million, £40 million, £55 million, then an unbelievable £90 million hours before window closed.

Who’s fault? So tired of Wenger excuses, finger pointing, and trying to financially shame successful clubs.

He rants against Chelsea, City, and United; oddly enough all have won League multiple times since Wenger has.

Pep’s response is pointing at trophy cabinet, no words just point

      1. Reality check but who is Jose? Wasn’t this the guy that called Wenger a voyeur for the very same reason he has eyes on Pep? Lucky for him Pep has class.

Circle of life me friend. Once upon a time Jose was the young buck about town having observed Wenger for years and mastered his styles to counter it and now Pep is the young buck and Mourinho looks a fool. May be Mourinho should put his binoculars down and look at his own house

  2. OT: Man City moving the ball around like champions.
If they keep this up they deserve to be invincible and go down as the greatest EPL team.

BUT I hope they crash and burn Nand I hope it is at our hands.

  3. Newcastle.caight on counter with 1 at back, in no time they have 6 / 7 players back.putting bodies on the line. That is the fight we should have, but our midfield believe only the back four must get back and defend.

I really hope Wenger drops Xhaka for Coq because we will be so much more balanced. Deluded one must just let Coq play his game and.not try to make him a box to box.

  4. Virgil van dijk is joining Liverpool for 75 million in few days …confirmed this evening

Anyone got any good kallstrom jokes .need to make myself feel better as our January becomes like every window …a disappointment

      1. You are right! He has no place in our team. We have the best CB in Monreal. If he gets injured, Elneny and Coquelin can play there. :))

      2. its a sign of intent … lpool are vulnerable at back so klopp brings in a decent centre back … we need that same attitude times 6 if we are to have a team that competes again at the top … but with the delusional corporate tool running things it will be another failed year … thats basically 14 barren years and taking us back closer to the bad old days of the 1960s when we never one a title over the decade

  5. Wenger is actually incorrect. According to Deloittes Arsenal now have a larger income than Chelsea. FFP has hurt Chelsea more than City who can still manipulate commercial income.

  6. Virgil Van dijk is one of d best center half’s in d league.
Liverpool just got a player that will help them defensively, with leadership quality.

  7. When Wenger started out in the EPL he was a pioneer in many ways (EG. Diets & fitness). That paid-off and earned him a lot of success at first, but now he is outdated and past-it, and his inability to accept that is manifesting itself by weakening his club.

Jose Mourinho is now walking the same path as Wenger, just with a lot more trophies in the bag.

Moureen pioneered the use of defensive midfielders and was a tactical master once-upon-a-time, but football has moved on, and he too is beginning to fall behind and can’t accept it. In his post-match interview after the Burnley game he referred to his team’s “Great spirit” etc. and he sounded just like Wenger after a disappointing game, which made me laugh.
