Arsenal CAN stuff CSKA Moscow if they avoid TWO things

Whether you are feeling confident about Arsenal doing the business against our Europa League opponents CSKA MOscow or not, I think we all believe that Arsene Wenger and the players are capable. To be honest I think that the Gunners are a match for almost anyone on our day, but we have not been having anywhere near enough of those recently.

If the players realise the importance of this game, which they really should have no problem with, and react to that in the right way then Arsenal should be heading to Moscow with a fairly simple job to do. But there are two things that could seriously derail this quarter-final.

One is the possibility of some complacency creeping in as we are the clear favourites. In the quarters of a European competition that should not be a problem but we have seen it from Arsenal before (cough, Monaco, cough). Hopefully, though, those experiences should help the players to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The other possible problem would be to get too wound up by the importance of the match so that nerves and tension affect the performance. This second possible problem is the one I see as more likely, but we should also remember that Arsenal have become pretty good in cup competitions since ending the trophy drought.

This Arsenal team CAN get roast the Russians if we play something like our top level and I think we will get through this tie, but are you worried about the team falling to one of these problems?

    1. Arsenal don’t man mark opposition players. They mark patches of grass. It’s called zonal marking and it’s useless. It’s useless because it leads to uncertainty in defences and especially the Arsenal defence. So often we see this and it quite often ends with a goal for the opposition and our defenders looking round at each other in bewilderment.
Wenger won’t use man marking because if he did the person RESPONSIBLE for failing to mark his man properly would be clearly visible . . . and might break down in tears!

  1. after spending 300m in on defense city got hammered

its time for them to spend another 500m

      1. hes will be spending another 500m to create a special transfer window and a very special referee for the return leg……..barca style magic

        1. Your double standards amaze me Ibrahim! Just the other day when we routinely bent over for city and they smashed past us 6 goals within a span of a week you put that down squarely on their spending to obtain “two teams” even though the real club playing 2 teams was Arsenal, a fresh team in the league and a fresh reserve team in Europa. In fact, any time criticism was made regarding our quality your standard response was, “Become a billionaire and buy the team and make your own changes”. Hoewever, now that city have lost to Liverpool you ridicule their spending. Could it be Klopp produced a tactical masterclass against Pep that Wenger was unable to? Could it be Klopp unlike Wenger, has filled his squad with quality players with a winning mentality? Could it be, Liverpool are a well managed team capable of matching the other top 5 teams? Could it be, the reason we lose 80% of our games against the top 6 is because Wenger is a weak coach who has infected the team with his weak mentality? Welbeck, Xhaka, El Neny, Bellerin, Iwobi, Ramsey, Wilshere..and we still wonder why we languish at 6th place! We literally are a sanctuary for mediocrity!

          1. QD -This deserves a reply from @john Ibrahim at the very least.Whats the betting you don’t get one?

      2. His major trophy collection shows his achievement

The way Klopp brought Liverpool in this season reminds me of Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool when they won the Champions League

          1. If we had sold Alexis in the summer I wonder if Wenger might have seen Salah as a good replacement. I always liked him ever since Basel tortured some English teams with him in the side, I thought Mourinho was wrong to sell him, and mentioned it well before Liv bought him. But I never imagined he was this clinical.

Aubameyang looking a little clinical himself, would prefer if he was three years younger, but he looks to have goals in him all the same. Lacazette, our second striker should be capable of out scoring those other Liv forwards. Ramsey, 7 goals 10 assists, he’s an all rounder, in another side his doubters in here would act the same way as they do in Oxlade’s situation, only Ramsey is playing better than Oxlade, and for longer than Oxlade, also he’s not a turncoat.

4 quality players and either Sarri or Allegri of Italy and we are good to go.

    1. I wish Arsenal spent that amount on the their defense too, along with Guardiola as the new manager

      1. that will need the house of Saud……1 billion a season spending and 1 million a week wages should not be a problem

there will be heaps of managers that can win titles with that kind of spending

  2. I’m sure Pep didn’t tell the defender to step over the ball 3m from the City goal, for the first Liverpool goal.

  3. I don’t think it mattered who won that game last night because some will take most opportunities that undermine our own capabilities. All we have is Europa, it is not necessary to point out to everyone the difference between the comps, it is not necessary to say which one Arsenal needs to be in if we are gonna be taken serious again. That said, I would f&&king love us to win a European trophy. Our cabinet is bare where the European medals should be.

  4. Wenger knows what is important in this game and that is not to concede an away goal.We have years of experience in failing to progress in Europe’s major competition and this Trophy is without doubt Division Two.But it’s a trophy Arsenal CAN WIN and a trophy Wenger MUST WIN.
Player for player we should be too strong and too good for them.We are capable of producing good performances and this is one game when the whole team needs to turn up.
The club needs some positivity at the moment. This game could just be the moment when our season at least offers something to get excited about.Get through this tie and beat Southampton on Sunday and all of a sudden the whole club will change from this continual darkness we seem to be in.Im hoping for a FULL stadium with a top performance and result.
A semi final will keep Wenger in work till the end of the season. As long as a Europa cup win does NOT keep him at the club next season.

  5. The wish of fans is for their beloved club to do well and win matches on the pitch regardless of who owns, the club, who manages the club and who plays for the club!
A true fan should never wish a defeat on his club whatever the motive.

    1. Where have I stated I wantedArsenal to LOSE.I clearly said I want us to WIN the Europa Cup.I just don’t want Wenger to be allowed to manage beyond this season if that happens

  6. Am so jealous of Liverpool and Tottenham aggression when ever they play these days. Common I can’t help it, has Ox played in an arsenal shirt before? What a shame, seeing what this guy is doing at Liverpool now. He was the man of the March yesterday.
