Arsenal close in on first January signing?

Arsenal Agree Terms For Talented Basel Midfielder? By AT

If media reports are to be believed, Arsenal are on the verge of finalising a deal for a talented young midfielder. According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have agreed a fee of £5 million with FC Basel for the transfer of Mohammed Elnenny and only have to agree personal terms with the player ahead of a potential move to the Emirates in January.

As a result of a long-term injury to Francis Coquelin, Mathieu Flamini is currently Arsene Wenger’s only option in defensive midfield and it seems as though the Arsenal boss will be taking no chances going into the business end of the season, having lined up young Elnenny as an alternative should the Gunners be unfortunate with any more injuries.

The report from the Mirror further goes on to suggest that Arsenal will go back in for Victor Wanyama in the summer, after being told by Southampton that the player will not be sold in January. For me, it makes complete sense to sign two central midfielders as both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini look set to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

At 23 years of age and a £5 million valuation to his name, the Egyptian international does seem like a typical Arsene Wenger signing. Despite the player not being proven quality as of yet, I think we can trust Wenger on this one as the Frenchman hasn’t gotten it wrong with too many young players in the past. What the squad needs at the moment is depth in midfield and Mohammed Elnenny will certainly provide that.

  1. Elnenny is a good box to box midfielder with great long range shooting abilities and will be a good addition but is not a DM.

      1. 6:0 – 2 goals each by mistakes by mert, flam and chambers. …. or … – we may beat them at emirates. thats arsenal for you.

      1. We have three key players out among others, what would happen if say Barca had three key players out among others ..lets say Suarez Mess and Neymar where out. Or even two of them and then do a job on the remaining one (as long as it’s not Messi).

Barca can demolish anyone when on song, look at what they did to Bayern. I am much more hurt with that performance last night than I would be with a Barca dismantling.

  2. KEY STATS
Cuco Martina’s goal is the first scored by a
Curacao international in the Premier League.

    Let that sink in!

  3. I thought we were now targeting better than what we currently have or am I mistaken? After yesterday’s game Wanyama would be priority. We also need another winger/forward, preferably a left footer like Griezmann because Campbell is not a starter for me.
