Arsenal creators MUST give Lacazette lots of ammunition against CSKA

The fact that the Arsenal and France international centre forward Alexandre Lacazette has recovered from his knee problem and is fit enough to start the Europa League game against CSKA Moscow tonight is fantastic news, but it will only help us to beat the Russian club if the creative players in the Arsenal team give the striker plenty of ammunition.

Lacazette is not like Alexis Sanchez who could conjure up goals out of nothing, but he is a very good finisher and should be feeling confident after getting back on the score sheet in his first game back from injury. Somentimes I feel the likes of Ozil tend to overplay and look for the perfect goal, while I think that they should be more intent on getting the ball to the Frenchman and giving him chances to do his thing.

A few misses do not matter as I feel that Lacca will score given enough opportunities, but if the Gunners insist on trying to walk the ball in then we could struggle against what is likely to be a determined and organised defence. Of course there are goal threats from other Arsenal players like Ramsey, Ozil and Mkhitaryan, but do you agree that we need to make sure that our main striker is the one given the most chances to find the back of the net tonight?

  1. We need to start playing direct football and move the ball forward much quicker. Also, Lacazette has amazing pace, high time we put it to use by playing balls behind Moscow defence. This season , we have had so many chances to counter teams, but we take too long to organise an attack and the ball ends up back to Ospina. Against Stoke, I remember we got a corner, but instead of putting a cross in the box, we played the ball all the way back to Ospina. Please, Europa is our only chance of silverware this season, let’s make it count. Fluid, direct, quick and efficient attacking today please.

  2. Isn’t a ball amunition? The ball is the bullet
Lacazette is the gun ? or weapon
His Legs and feet are the trigger
    The ball is the bullet
And the net is the target

BTW RIP Ray Wilkins. 61 is too young to die. My dad was 60 when he died. Bad couple of months for Football. First Astori now Ray ??

  3. Why will the writer of the article refer to Alexis Sanchez when he is not our player. How many goals has he created out of nothing for United? He was able to score many goals for us because all the players were playing for him.

    1. As what I have been mentioning on this site, Sanchez would struggle because of Mourinho’s system

If Sanchez cannot increase his speed, strength, stamina and leap, he could lose the competition with Lingard, Martial and Rashford

  4. normally my dreams are not always football related,so this should be serious..i dreamt of Jardim being our next coach but in that dream it didn’t end well for Wenger,he shamefully departed the club…hopefully that part won’t come through..please lets pray for arsenal!

  5. Ammunition for a top striker, as Lacazette is, comes by using wingers, which we don’t have and by making incisive forward passes, which apart from OZIL, WE HARDLY EVER DO! wWe have not the managerial coaching or managerial tactical skills to provide our two top strikers(only one of whom can play in this comp) with PROPER ammunition. And BTW Bob, the article writer, I also remember Sanchez. DIDN’T HE USED TO PLAY FOR US A LONG TIME AGO BUT WENT ELSEWHERE , ON A TREASURE HUNT and found only fan hostility. Just wondered WHY you thought this ex-player worthy of a mention?

    1. Ozil’s forward passes are usually predictable by the opponents, hence those passes are difficult to be converted by our attackers. Most of his assists are from set-pieces and he has got his chances with Podolski, Giroud, Walcott, Welbeck, Sanchez, Lacazette and Aubameyang

Sanchez made more through balls than Ozil and De Bruyne made more assists than him in this season (most of De Bruyne’s assists were made from open play, not set-pieces):

Elneny pressurized the opponents harder Ozil and he was braver in making forward passes, in his last three matches. In my opinion, Ozil would be successful in Spain national team (if he were a Spanish) or Barcelona, because their players are so used to play with highly creative system

      2. Are you actually saying that the dreadfully limited Elneny is more creative than the sublimely ngifted Ozil then? It appears you are! And over that long period of three games too! Well that proves it then, three games being so VERY LONG a period in which to judge! NOT! IMO anyone who thinks Elneney even remotely adequate needs eye surgery.

        1. I’d better book my appointment at Specsavers then Jon because I too think Elneny is more than remotely adequate!
I also think Xhaka is as well. It’s the lack of proper coaching that is holding these players back. Don’t cross, don’t shoot, pass back. Eat, sleep, repeat.

    2. Mkhit, Mesut, Wilshere, Ramsey & Xhaka are all capable of creating good opportunities whether from sitting position or whether collecting a ball from wide. Mkhit and Ozil have freedom, they are Lacazettes/Aub’s main supply, though I didn’t need to tell anyone that with which they already knew.

  6. Will the stadium be full tonight or it will be half empty you know AOBs are the definition of inconsistency,Laca is our best player in my opinion beside he can be a Lethal no 10 than ozil.cogy!

    1. No need to bring in the AOB side.
      We are all Gooners 🙂

I disagree with Jon Fox a LOT but he is a fellow gooner, he has the opinion Wenger should leave but he still bleeds red and white (am i right Jon?).

      1. if he bleeds red and white he should stop acting so arrogant and insulting Sam P or the others every time he writes something..

        1. I go at K when he makes a post moaning about everything and making it sound like Wenger is the Devil, I do not think he is a fake fan and I am not either, we have different perspectives and it can be frustrating at times to try and educate people who are stubborn.

I think like that about some fans so I have to accept that some fans may think like that when I talk.

I have raged at Jon Fox previously and verbally stood up to him but at the end I have respect for him, I may disagree and we may have some interesting debates but we are all gooners. I’ll insult him but not just for the sake of slander, I’ll take digs at what he said… not who he is.

Jon Fox is an Arsenal supporter and so am I, I may disagree a LOT with most people on here BUT they are all gooners. If someone as childish as me can do this then I am gobsmacked that mature people like you act so childish!

  7. @krish I agree with you 100% Jon fox is childish and he pretends he is old that’s why I had earlier suggested he be circumsized because foreskin misleads the mind.@Jon fox grow up

  8. I saw the official line-up on Uefa.com. If Lacazette is going to get good service this is the time all of our best creators are starting imho.
