Arsenal Exits – The Ox and Wilshere are staying, Giroud and Sanchez to leave?

Now that the pre-season is under way, the Arsenal transfer rumours are starting to be clarified by Arsene Wenger, and to start with we can be sure that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will still be playing for us next season, although Wenger didn’t say that he was going to sign a new contract. Le Prof said when asked about Chamberlain: “Yeah. 100 per cent. I expect him to stay. There has been no speculation. No matter what happens he will stay.”

Jack Wilshere is also in the last year of his contract and as he’s injured (really?) it may have been difficult to sell him anyway, but the Boss reckons he will be competing for a place in the team again when he recovers. “I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes,” said Wenger. “I will give you a very focused answer on that, that he has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team.

“But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from practising with the team.”

Oli Giroud scored again this morning after starting alongside Lacazette, but he is far from certain to stay as a supersub yet again. Giroud said, “It (leaving) is an option to be honest with you.

“I’m here in pre-season, I wanted to travel. Some people asked me if I am going to travel or not. I am an Arsenal player and for the moment I am here. I just want to prepare well for the season and we will see later.

“But it is true that I really enjoyed my five years with Arsenal. I try to be professional. No matter what happens, I did my job on the pitch.

“I had an amazing welcome from the fans and from the club and it has been five amazing years for me.

“I won’t forget it, no matter what happens. We will see about my future.”

That sounds like a farewell speech to me, so I think we can be seeing him move abroad very soon, probably to Marseille…

And as for the million-dollar question. Will Alexis be staying? Or as has been reported in Chile, he has already signed a contract extension? Wenger denies this: “No [he has not signed a new deal]. A lot that comes out about Sanchez does not look completely right. No, that’s not the case.”

Well I am of the opinion that if Sanchez was intending to stay, he would have signed a new contract by now, so I reckon both Giroud and Alexis are out the door.

What do you think?

  1. Alexis comments yesterday at a charity youth tournament in Tocopilla.

“”I want to play in the Champions League,” …The decision isn’t up to me, I need to wait for Arsenal….”I’ve made my decision, now I wait for Arsenal’s reply. The idea is to play and win the Champions League. I’ve dreamt about it since I was little….”For now I am at Arsenal and I finish my contract in one more year.”

Looks like he definitely wants to leave

But it seems its all up to Wenger now. Alexis should be professional when the season starts no matter where he is

    1. Sanchez went to confederations cup and now on well earned break so no opportunity for him to sign a contract… once Wenger back from china and sanchez back then I think will be much clearer…

My own opinion is that Wenger rarely comes out and says anything but has clearly said positive talks via text with Sanchez. What that means is anyones guess but I think he will see out his contract with a view to see how we are shaping up by Xmas.. and I think he will also use that timr to see what the other clubs are like…
Signing Lemar or Mahrez which seems to be likely plus Laca and Sead already he would be silly not to want to at least play a few months with them to see if arsenal can challenge !

  2. If there is justice in this world then Mbappe will be a star wherever he goes, if he can Sign a 5yr contract and a release clause of 180 I see no problem paying 120m,please bid for Mbappe and sell Giroud and Sanchez we can get 70 m for both and pay him their wages

  3. give Wilshere for charity to clubs that want him he is a symbol of injuries and midiocrity already! how many goals and assists in his career!!

  4. sniper,
I agree with you 100%, I wanted Alexis and Giroud to stay, but Alexis thinks he is bigger than the club and I couldn’t believe what I saw from Giroud last night on the pitch with Lacazette. Get rid off them both for £80mil and bring in Mbappe or Belotti and pay one off them the money we offered Alexis. Mbappe idea you had is brilliant 5 year deal with £180 million pound release clause and we are up and running. Forget about star off the future this kid is W/C right now. Come on Arsene just do it
    C.O.Y.G

  5. Don’t sell any of our first team player. Sell wilshere, jekinson, Campbell, debuchi, . keep Alexis ,
