Arsenal eye out of favour Real Madrid star

Arsenal are claimed to be eyeing a move to sign Real Madrid’s Marcos Llorente this summer.

The midfielder spent last season on loan with La Liga side Deportivo Alaves, and started 36 matches throughout the campaign, as well as picking up two substitute appearances. Aside from that, he only has three senior appearances for Real Madrid, all of which came from the bench.

He certainly looks to have a huge uphill battle if he is to succeed at the Bernabeu, and could be willing to leave the club in search of regular action, with Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Kovacic and Dani Ceballos ahead of him in the pecking order.

Arsenal are said to be eyeing a move to bring him to the Premier League, with either a loan deal or permanent move with a buy-back clause included.

We have our own wealth of options in the centre of the park also however, with Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla vying for the two central roles. Wilshere is linked with the exit door, while Cazorla is expected to miss much of the season through injury, but we would still remain with a number of choices.

The 22 year-old may prefer to try and join a fellow Primera Liga side in Seville or Atletico Madrid, although the latter are unable to register any new players until January.

It is hard to gauge exactly how highly Arsene Wenger rates the young Spaniard, and how much game time he would be able to guarantee him, but the deal looks an unlikely one for me.

Can you see Llorente at Arsenal? Do we need more midfield options?

  1. Arsenal didn’t pursue their interest in Pablo Fornals, let alone Marcos Llorente. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get some unknown players though, like Lucas Perez in the last season, because the extreme penny-pinching is in their genes.

More experienced and proven CMs are available, like Sergi Roberto, Jean Seri, Leon Goretzka, etc. If they do not buy a high quality CM after the clearance sale, the fans would be very disappointed.

    1. Jean Seri is not proven, at 27yo he only has 12 caps and a good season, not worth pursuing

Leon Goretzka is potential and would be a good signing

Sergi Roberto too has potential, not proven too but would be a good signing

  2. Marcos Llorente!

This just gives more credence to arsene as a legendary liar.

Whatever happens to top top quality?

  3. Haha can’t see it off topic wat da hell is paul Merson on like is he arsenal or is he full of hate for wenger first he says Liverpool should sell continho and den buy Sanchez haha Sanchez had that chance and passed now he saying Man Utd should go get him why do some x players really dig in at us I haven’t seen any x Liverpool players saying oh Man Utd should bid for continho u no why cause they love there club I think merson is back on the ? and had sneaky each way bet Sanchez goes Man Utd if that did happen we did sell to morinho and we have any bad result my god fans will slap da heads off each other like everyone is not even giveing us chance qualify for champs league again let’s get behind da team and quietly go on our mission and keep our players not only do I think we will get bk in champions league I think we can atleast challenge for the long awaited crown keep Sanchez and he and lacasette will click u watch

    1. The only way I see is doing that is he is trying to get a good price for Sanchez for us and inclining Sanchez is actually for sale. You won’t expect the club or management to come out and say Sanchez is for sale, or more specifically to a rival so perhaps he is a good scapegoat.

    2. His latest is arsenal should have bought Garreth Barry(36) if they are ambitious. Can you imaging that. He knows nothing about football and that is unbelievable for someone had played the game.

    1. Jean Seri is not proven, at 27yo he only has 12 caps and a good season, not worth pursuing

Carvalho another overrated player, 28yo yet no big clubs are aftering him

Leon Goretzka is potential and would be a good signing

  4. just a thought… how have we ended up with so many average platers when Wenger insists on only signing ‘top top quality’ players ?

  5. Who?

I want to talk about MU. I’ve always despised them as they are the most arrogant club and fans I’ve ever known. This was made even worse when Jose signed up.

I know it’s only rumours but 2 things would seriously p*ss me off and that’s MU taking sanchez or seeing Lemar in a MU shirt.
We take weeks and 3 or bids to get nowhere and mourinho could come in and go boom 55m done where do I sign.
I know it’s never as simple as the press make it but we do seem to make a meal of things and drag our heals.
Another thing why are we selling a half decent CB for 10m only? What a joke he’s got to be worth 18 to 20m at least in today’s inflated market.
Now perez bought for 15 or 17m I think and we’re discussing selling him for 12 ish. Since when does arsenal and arsene sell players and make a loss?
Again strikers are hard to find and we can’t get 15m to 20m for him? Our negotiation team need sacking.

    1. those years we had Dein in charge and head of negotiation/procurement and sales…

things get done and players get signed….

Now we cant even secure our 2nd choice

Utd get their players cause they pay them whatever they wants 50m or 100m they pay

they have an enormous fan base compared to Arsenal and merchandising is one of or their biggest income, do not think any clubs in the league can beat that

  6. to those who said Lamar deal was a “done deal” well piss off…to those who feel the draxler deal is a good deal.. How y’all doing”…lol..just recovering from the hang over… peace..lol

  7. Why do people keep mentioning Goretzka? He’ll reject the move easily. He has his heart set on a Bayern move.Seri and Marcos Llorente are not what we need.William Carvalho would’ve been a brilliant signing if we didn’t have Xhaka. We need an all round player more like a defensive box to box player.

      1. I’m notr Resource and I don’t give fake updates.Resource is probably scared to show up because of the backlash he’ll receive. If you’re calling me that because of Lemar deal then you’re wrong.Fee was agreed at £55 including add ons and personal terms were also agreed.Monaco changed their asking price to £65 but Arsenal said no.Arsenal were trying to force Monaco into losing their stance during many weeks. There were times Lemar didn’t train and even walked out angrily during the Fabinho and Mbappe bust up all due to Arsenal.I’ve been following the Lemar deal closely and it’s all on Monaco not Wenger. The deal should’ve even been done in July.I can’t believe he was about to break our transfer record for what we don’t need.

  8. Sold Gabriel and Skye rumour mustaffi loan to inter. Wenger what are u smoking? Who’s gonna be ur ch when those 2 are gone? Chambers, holding, debuchi, monreal or metasacker are not as good as mustaffi find someone else to loan out or sell. In that defense, kostafi is my best and first

  9. Watched Llorente quite a lot at the u21 Euro’s and he was fantastic. Very good in the tackle, very disciplined and has fantastic distribution. While he is not as well known as other rumoured targets like Seri and Carvalho, he would be a very good signing. Don’t see it happening though.
