Arsenal forward issues BLEAK transfer warning to Wenger

The Arsenal fans have been telling Arsene Wenger this sort of thing for years, we even have our in jokes about the things he says such as fit again players being like a new signing, but the boss does not seem to be listening. Perhaps he would be more amenable if the advice on his transfer policy was coming from one of his own players.

Well in a report by The Sun the young Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, who yesterday scored the goal that took his nation to the World Cup, offered a pretty bleak assessment of what the Gunners could be in for if the majority of Arsenal transfer rumours are right and we are going to lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Iwobi said, “When they are fit they are unstoppable. They are both capable of changing a game — or a season.

“They have a big decision to make. But it would be a huge setback to lose them because from the stats you can see we do need them for their goals and assists.

“For a team like Arsenal, we need to be aiming for the top four and we need what they bring.

“It will be great for them to stay. I’ve learnt a lot from them.

“Just the opportunity to even train with them has been amazing. They are two top-class players with great experience having played at the top level.”

The fact that the Arsenal academy graduateis saying this despite being one of the players to benefit in terms of time on the pitch if one or both left shows good ambition for the club but is a bit worrying at the same time. Iwobi clearly thinks we either have to keep them or replace them properly, with equal quality or better, and I am sure most of us agree.

That means transfers, Arsene, expensive ones. Are you going to do it?

  1. For a team like Arsenal, we should be aiming for the very top, how I wished he’d have said that instead. He’s already been ingrained, wipe-washed, and injected with the poison.

    1. Exactly. Hearing him say top 4; already infected with WIK virus (Wenger, Ivan, Kronke).
Goal should be title, but settle for a top 4 and CL if we miss out. Evidently goal is top 4 with settling for Europa league if we miss out.

      1. Good news is maybe another new stadium so we can compete with big clubs with transfers.

Or not, and we were just conned and lied too. One of the two I’m sure of it

        1. I am happy to bash SS and IG but the stadium was suppose to allow AFC to earn enough to compete but then money rich owners started buying clubs and changed the playing field after AFC had committed to the stadium.

We do not have to move again and for a LONG time, see how the Spuds are doing a stadium… ain’t you glad we do not have that anymore to go through?

The stadium is NOT the issue, it earns AFC money and if Ivan Gazidis was a better CEO then he would make better use of the money.

If Ivan Gazidis was a better CEO then AFC wouldn’t be earning over £75 mil a year less than UTD from the shirt/stadium/kit sponsorship deals and we could afford 1 more marquee signing.

The stadium was wanted by David Dein, the guy who pushed AFC to EPL titles and to a UCL final before being forced out by greedy yanks.

Blaming the stadium is stupid, it is the business people who work at the stadium, leave the stadium alone.

  2. Iwobi best start taking his final notes because these two are leaving. Don’t kid yourself that we will replace them with equal quality

  3. Nice to see our young stars so humble and respectful. Iwobi’s talent is there for everybody to see but talent alone doesn’t make world class players. It is insights into his attitude in interviews like this that make me know he will be right up there with our legends

  4. He will be sanctioned because that old stubborn hates voices that disagreed with him which may Be why none if our legends came back to coach our team.

Kroenke will stand to lose abt GBP 100m for the two. Ouch, that must have hurt him.

    1. Sanctioned? Why? Let’s not forget this is the most forward thinking manager in the league – not my words but those of respected legends in the game, Arsenal players plus from other teams

      1. But that was 10 years ago. Forward thinking? Maybe in sense of constantly attacking rather than protecting a lead. Dude stuck with 4231 formation years after ambitious teams figured us out.
Only surprise for me is him switching formations before that dodgy zip.
On second thought, formation change costs nothing but new zip costs couple pounds.
        Makes perfect sense now.

    2. 12 thumbs up for being a dumbass XD
Non of our legends came back to coach our team?

Someone please tell Pires he is doing it wrong so Jeremy can be right and those 12 idiots can save some grace.

  5. I’m afraid I agree with Jeremy. Iwobi will be relegated to the bench now cos he has said anything other than the gospel according to …you know who.
But to answer the article , I don’t think Ozil ( in his current state of mind ) is any loss and without doubt Sanchez has contributed to an enormous amount of goals ( which got Wenger his new contract last year ).
However ATM , Sanchez is still awesome but playing for himself and not Arsenal
