Arsenal get DOUBLE injury boost for Liverpool clash

As we wrote in an earlier post, there is some doubt about whether arsenal will have the Germany international star Mesut Ozil available for the trip north to face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, although the hopes are high that the illness which caused the attacking midfielder to be sent home from training will not be a long enough issue to stop him playing.

What does seem a lot more likely ahead of this crucial Premier League clash is that the Gunners will be the beneficiaries of two bits of news from the injury side of things and that really could make all the difference to whether Arsenal win, lose or draw.

On our side of the fence we have the excellent and encouraging news reported by Metro is that Arsenal will be seriously strengthened at the back with our defensive mainstay and stand in captain Laurent Koscielny back in training after a small lay-off due to a hamstring injury picked up in the defeat to Bayern Munich.

At the same time, Jurgen Klopp’s defensive problems are not getting any easier after The Mirror reported the German admitting that his captain and deep lying midfielder Jordan Henderson would not recover from a foot injury in time to protect the Liverpool defence against the Gunners’ attack.

Good news Gooners, but just how big could these two injury issues prove to be?

  1. That’s good news, especially Koscielny. Koscielny and Mustafi are only really quality CBs
I think we should get one more in Summer like Van Dijk, Howedes, Carvahlo etc
Mertsacker is older and slower, Gabs and Chambs haven’t convinced me as of yet. Holding is very good for his age but needs more experience

I hope Ozil can find his form soon. He was fantastic last season and helped us get lots of goals

  2. Ozil is frequently prone to illness. He needs to spend less time around his sisters baby 🙂 eat more greens and buy some hand sanitiser!

  3. Arsenal girl always need arsenal to sign players.
Did you start supporting the club last year?
When was the last time Wenger the dope signed players who added quality to our lime up.
It will only happen in your dream.
The only good news is for Wenger to go at the end of the season.
    He is a failure

    1. Arsenal Girl?, Sure I’ve never met a supporter that didn’t want new players. R Mad, Barca, BVB, no matter how good, they still please fans with new signings. We can definitely use some better signings. Mustafi and Perez have added a little more quality, I’d give Xhaka next season but I think he needs to find a complimentary partner. I think Holding will be the future bedrock of our club.

  4. Whether it was coincidental or not, but when Kosc went out with an injury against Bayern, we shipped 4 more goals against them with Gabriel, who is a horrendous CB, by the way. So I welcome our Koz the Boss back with open arms. Ozil is my favorite player, so it’s hard for me to say that he should be dropped, but perhaps a short stint on the bench would do him good, if he’s fit, of course. My major concern, however, is the fact that Ramsey is back in training. Now that’s one guy I don’t want to see nowhere near the pitch, but knowing Wenger, he’ll probably put him straight into starting XI.

  5. Ozil missing is a minus and a plus. We may miss some good final third passing from himself. Though, when without the ball we generally look outnumbered at times. Away at Anfield that could be a huge deal, Liv put allot of effort into their play. So I believe Ozil should not have been starting this game anyway. Very glad Koscielny is back. Gabriel like others have said: scares me!
