Arsenal given welcome boost by Chelsea-Man City match

Chelsea beat Manchester City today to cement their place at the top of the table, but the match gave Arsenal reasons to be happy.

The Blues extended their winning run of games to eight in the Premier League, which will not help our title aspirations, but due to plenty of drama in the final 10 minutes of the match, Manchester City received two red cards to key players.

The Citizens will now have to host Arsenal in two weeks time without key men Sergio Aguero and Fernadinho, which will come as huge blow (for them).

Neither of these bans will be overturned due to the manner in which they were received, and we will have a great chance of coming away from the Etihad with all three points.

We must now concentrate on keeping our run of wins going in order to keep tabs on Chelsea at the top of the table, and hope that their winning run can end in the coming weeks also. Surely the Christmas schedule will put an end to that.

Aguero’s ban will also end before City take on PL rivals Liverpool, which could work out perfectly as we push to try and win our first title in over a decade. I said before that we would be the team there ready and waiting if the West-London side do slip up, and today’s news only bolsters that in my mind.

Should we receive a favourable couple of weeks on the injury front, would we go to the Etihad confident of getting a result? Have Chelsea cemented themselves as clear favourites for the title?

  1. I am only afraid of Liverpool in our title bid and not chelsea. If Man City had done their homework better they should have buried the game earlier cos they were clearly the better team but they were wasteful. Arsenal should not lose at stamford bridge & Anfield if we must remain up there.
