Arsenal Gossip – Striker signing, midfielder coming and Cazorla returning

There certainly seems to be a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours around lately, despite the fact that the window will not be open again until the summer. The biggest news is that the Gunners are set to sign a contract today with the young Nigerian hitman Samuel Chukwueze, who flew to London on Monday and completed his medical yesterday.

The Nigerian U17 star confirmed he was coming over to join Kelechi Nwakali this weekend, when he was quoted as saying: ‘My trip to London is on Monday night,’

‘I’m happy that everything is going well and I will do my best when I get there by the grace of God.’

The two Nigerians were the stars of the World Cup and obviously have great promise. Hopefully one (or both) will make it to the Arsenal first team in a couple of years….

The next rumour seems a bit unlikely to me, but there are many reports saying that Arsene Wenger is in negotiations with Man United’s Michael Carrick to arrive on a free contract this summer. It seems that as Rosicky, Flamini and Arteta are set to leave this summer, Wenger is moving for Carrick as a replacement backup for our midfield. As Carrick is 34, the same age as Arteta and two years older than Flamini, this makes little sense to me….

The good news is that we could have our Spanish magician Santi Cazorla back in the team for our crucial game against Tottenham on March 5th. It is being reported that this is his new target and may agree with Wenger’s statement at the weekend. Le Prof was talking about Santi and Wilshere when he said: “They are back running, they are on a fitness programme now so it means it is not a question of months anymore, it is a question of weeks for them to be back. I can’t count on them in the next three or four weeks but everybody else yes [I will count on them].”

There is no doubt that we have seriously missed Cazorla’s creativity in midfield and he could be crucial to the final stages of our season. Of course as usual we are not getting any information about Jack Wilshere’s level of recovery, but then does any of us actually expect to see him return this season?

  1. Carrick??? I don’t understand, since he is free,it might be true as that is wenger’s pattern these days…
And I saw the carzola news too, he was scheduled to return by March anyway, so he is on point!

    1. Wenger wouldn’t sign Carrick. We have enough midfield options as it is. Yes we’ll probably lose Arteta and Rosicky, maybe Flamini too, but even then we still have enough.

        1. Hahaha ??? Well said matey!
It’s sad when fan’s only hear and see what they want,
Without taking into consideration the ‘Facts’..
          Yes! .. Wenger is a Ebenezer, who loves a Freeeeeeee’bieeeeeee!! ????

There’s even rumours of Flamini being offered a years extension! ??
So don’t expect more than one summer signing for next season. ?

  2. Commonsense will suggest the Carrick rumour is all lies but with Wenger you can never tell, the man loves a bargain and if Carrick is a free agent come end of season Wenger might just take a punt, not withstanding the fact we will just be basically exchanging one injury prone over the hill midfielder for another in Arteta leaving for Carrick….we got Silvestre when Man u got tired of him remember?…..i sure hope its a lie but i will not go as far as saying its impossible

  3. Hoping that these Nigerians will reproduce their U17 forms. They were terrific. Messi started like that. Only if they can be groomed well. Their friend is hitting the net for Man C.

Carrick? we are not in MSL please.

  4. Hope Cazorla comes back soon. He has been the most significant loss because he plays his position so well and no other gunners are really able to duplicate it.

  5. Carrick= HELL NO!!!

Good to here that Santi and Jack are on the mend and can be back soon (fingers crossed)..

Its also good to know the Wenger is getting the next generation of players ready…

But in the summer I would still like to sign a Striker and my choice is still Morata if Real do not get him back through their clause and Juv are looking to sell then we should not put our name in the hat but take the whole dam hat and walk off ….
