Arsenal have 3 weeks to activate Jean Michael Seri’s release clause

There is still a lot of uncertainty about Arsenal’s midfield targets, but with Jack Wilshere deciding to leave and Santi Cazorla not returning either there are a couple of vacancies to fill. There is of course also the danger that Aaron Ramsey may not sign a new contract extension as well which would mean that we will need at least two more incoming if not three….

So everyone seems to think that Lucas Torreira is going to be our new defensive midfielder but it seems we are also chasing the Nice man Jean Michael Seri, who is considered to be more attack-minded than Torreira. The Sky transfer guru Dharmesh Sheth reported recently: “Chelsea and Arsenal both remain interested in Jean-Michael Seri.

“We’ve been talking about it in the last few minutes, the managerial situation of Chelsea is uncertain, that could prove a stumbling block to any transfer. It’s also thought that Arsenal are looking for other players.

“Arsenal’s interest is through the head of their football relations – Raul Sanllehi.

“Seri is available for £35million. A further twist is his next destination could be influenced by the arrival of Patrick Vieira as the new head coach at Nice now.”

Now today, Seri’s agent Franklin Mala has told reporters: ”Seri’s clause is €40million (£35million) and it is valid until 15th July.

“After that Nice can ask for any amount they want.”

So if we want that discounted price they will have to move a bit quicker to get the deal done by the middle of July. Maybe they had better clarify the Ramsey situation very soon?

  1. Arsenal should go for kovacic.. He is an all action midfielder.. I’ve watched him a lot at real Madrid and he is a wonderful midfielder

  2. I think Ramsey’s future at Arsenal has been decided, therefore there is no need to discuss the incoming of a new CM

Arsenal should focus on getting a new winger, because we already have enough players for the other positions

    1. And that is true Gotanidea IF Ramsey signs the contract offered.
There seems to be a complete blackout regarding news on this and I am wondering if that is why the media are naming so many players linked with the club who have a similar playing style?

  3. Have we actually signed anyone apart from the 34 year old right back?
It just sounds like all the previous summers of frustration under Wenger with a different tint to it.
    And time is marching on….

    1. We’ve signed Leno. Every outlet has already said Sokratis is done. Announcement is just for Dortmunds next financial quarter. Sampdoria president has said Torriera is sold. I’m sure you know this, but are just getting a bit impatient. These things are as good as finished tho. two signings official, two 99% official.

  4. Mesut dropped by the Germans. I used to be arguably the largest Mesut supporter on here, but sadly, he is no longer the player he once was. He’s gotten too comfortable – fame (social media personality), fortune, women, etc – no longer has the fire in his belly to be a winner. Some would claim he never had it, some would say he had it but being surrounded by inferior talent and a complacent manager that didn’t demand more of him took it out of him.
Either way, this is going to be a big summer for the guy, and how he deals with this disappointment will determine his future.
Would like to see him come back stronger, but would have no problem seeing us move on with A player like Denis Suarez, rafinha, Thiago

    1. That is the sensible thing for any coach to do considering all what has being said about him lately. He is the easiest targets on that team when things go wrong despite being one of their best players in their last match. No worries, let see how it turns for them.

      1. They dropped Hummels and Khedira too, so it’s not just Ozil who got blamed. Truth is Ozil is bang average and you only need to watch him to see that. I don’t buy the “Ozil unfairly criticized” argument. He is rightfully criticized because he is routinely inconsistent and doesn’t turn up in big games. 300k per week for him is a joke, and now he’s unsellable. I trust Emery to bench him at some point this coming season. Ozil doesn’t have the mental strength to fight for his spot. As TH14atl said, he is too comfortable with his fame.

        1. Well he almost cost them the game until Kroos came to rescue. Ooh wait a minute he wasn’t playing.

  5. It hurts me to see us downgrade everything that is associated with the club and hype what is not. I read from the last article that Kovacic might not come to us because of cl football. I’m struggling to understand what playing cl football will do to his career compare to playing regularly. This is player that has less than 40 appearance for Real ever since he has joined them from Inter Milan where he was playing no cl football. Chelsea will be playing in Europa next season like us and i have not read any of their players want out because of that and i don’t think any player won’t want to join them because of that. Everything about the club is changing and fans mentalities need to change as well. Not until we change our negative mentalities the club we not move forward because we will be questioning evey move make by the club.

    1. I agree but ,
I don’t think kovacic would agree.
Why would anyone would leave Real Madrid and join a club who is facing transition.

      1. playing time bro, kovacic needs games not champions league football. he hasn’t done enough to merit the attention of top teams in the last two seasons. if I were him I would move to any top team that can guarantee playing team.

    2. Mobella, hasn’t this been the way of the media for years though!
Not talking about individuals here, but the club itself.
You are correct, in my opinion, that our fans mentality needs to change, especially as it has not always been this way.
Under G.G we waited for the manager to make a decisive move. No rumours just action.
I suppose social media is playing a huge part in this, with rumours about our club never ending.
We as fans get caught up in the hype and then are so frustrated when nothing materialises (at least I do).
My take on this season is that the club will be doing things differently and I will believe nothing until it appears on the official website.

  6. Naija jollof,Ryan & Victoria Concordia crescit & all other naija boys wey dey here good times ahead for next season.once the ” Emery Army ” start flogging everyone those other fans go begin dey cry for Wenger return
