Arsenal HAVE the quality – If Wenger uses it correctly….

THIS ARSENAL TEAM HAS GOT SERIOUS QUALITY By UE

Watching Arsenal run riot yesterday night against an experienced but stunned Galatasaray side reminded me of how much quality we have in this team. Frankly, if we fail to do well this season, I wouldn’t blame it on our failure to sign William Carvalho or some super star defensive midfielder. It will be solely because the boss got his selection wrong because he has got some serious talent at his disposal. We played this game without the services of the crocked Walcot, Ramsey, Giroud, Arteta, Debuchy, Monreal, Gnabry and Diaby (who lacks fitness), and yet we did this well. That is some serious quality absent in our line up. And then of course Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell didn’t even get off the bench while Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky only came on when the show was basically over.

So we were right all along about our lack of team balance and I hope our French boss realizes that he has been wrong in his selections. Having a fit Chamberlain and Sanchez at your disposal and failing to play both of them on the flanks is just criminal. Their performance yesterday night ran the opposition ragged with their pace, trickery, dribbling, assists and goals. So why oh why does the boss continue to play Ozil and Carzola on the flanks when we have proper wingers who are tailor made for the flanks? Arsene Wenger really is a very stubborn and conceited man and I personally feel that injuries to Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere (who seems alright now) is what forced him to finally field his best line up yet. Isn’t that strange?

This reminds me of the long running saga of Wenger consistently benching a certain Joel Campbell for reasons unknown. We have top quality players in this team now. Yes we are still short of a Patrick Viera type of defensive midfielder but still, we have got it right in every other area and if we can keep making the right selections for every game and manage to get our tactics right, we will be very proud of this team by the time the season comes to an end. I mean look at Mesut Ozil. His performance yesterday night went back to being a bit lazy once again but the fact that he was played centrally behind Danny Welbeck meant that he could still shine while in second gear. Cazorla did very well too and so did all our players. And when we were down to ten men, we defended brilliantly for a significant period of time with David Ospina making crucial saves that ensured we gifted nothing to Galatasaray.

Let us just hope that the boss manages to find the humility to admit he has been blundering all this while playing Ozil, Carzola and Wilshere on the flanks. The result is there for all to see. Play our pacy wingers out wide and we will torture the opposition to death. Yesterday night’s game has been my best yet. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. A special shout out to Danny Welbeck, our clinical hat trick hero and undisputed man of the match. So Cazorla was right all this while. Danny is clinical and he is turning out to be the player we all believed he could be for Arsenal. Peace.

  1. I hope arsene dosen’t mess up in his team selection, just to prove a point……….hoping for a great game on sunday

    1. sunday is huge…so much background…

they r contenders for everything- we are aiming for the same
      wenger has never beaten mourinho
last year we lost there 6-0
      cesc fabregas

    2. wenger has never beaten moreen simply because moreen is a very tactician and wenger the exact opposite of that, we’ve suffered so many times just because he fails to get the besy from the players available…yesterdays case was because of injuries, other wise he would started ramsey and wilshere a head of sanchez and carzola but what a difference that made

    3. To be fair, most of our starting team is intact (except for Walcott and Ramsey imo). The rest who is out should in general not effect our performance because they would mostly not be on the pitch anyway. We started winning convincingly when we started injecting pace in the most forward line. Actual forwards running behind the lines seems like an eternity ago. Leave the team as it was but only substitute Cazorla for Wilshere and we got a chance against Chelsea

  2. i agree with the need for the pacey members of the squad to be on the flanks, much more effective and menacing than wasting ozil and cazorla out there…

OT: finally nice to see some positive comments about the team… although am prepared for the ‘wenger out’ and ”ozil isnt good enough” type comments if things dont go our way against chelsea

    1. Do you think anyone with the common sense and the conviction to want Wenger out will change their minds because of one game?
      Wise up.
I said even when we led the league last year we needed Wenger out or it would fall apart.
My opinion hasn’t changed at all, Wenger no longer has what once made him successful i.e. the core of a great team and solid defense George Graham built with some great players added by Wenger.
His time has passed, he was the most successful Arsenal manager for a time, i believe he was also in with a shout for being the most unsuccessful as well over the past 10 yrs.

This will probably get thumbed down by the sheep who were calling for Wenger to get out prior to the Galatarasy match, one win and it’s a Wenger love in again.
      Shame on you fickle fans!

      1. @Save Arsenal
I would add one thing to your list of what Wenger had that he no longer has: David Dein.
The club has been in decline since he was shafted. He was shafted because he tried to warn the board that we needed investment to be able to keep pace with the likes of Chelsea and remain pre-eminent as we once were. Wenger co-operated in the shafting of his one time friend and gained a salary increase and complete control of the operational side of the club and we have been in decline ever since.

  3. he should use the same lineup as our match yesterday. It worked out amazingly.

I’ve noticed that some of our problems occur when our midfielders lose the ball in the middle. Against Galatasary, Sanchez loss the ball which ultimately led to their PK – not that the goal was entirely his fault. Losing the ball in the middle is gonna happen to us repeatedly in the future no doubt, but when it happens every single one of our midfielders needs to come back to help defend especially against Chelsea. Turning our offense it to defense can lead to a quick return to offense again.

However I saw improvement in our set piece and counter attack defending yesterday. Again, the Gunners played incredible.

    1. @Mesut O-thrilled
Exactly. We do not press enough in numbers when off the ball. Other teams strike fear in us by doing so, causing our players to hurry and misplace passes.

  4. Arsenal. Have now gone six games without a win over chelsea since the memorable 5-3 victory on their own turf back in October 2011

And worse than that arsenal have won only 4 of the last 24 games against Chelsea

In the past decade we have been chelsea little b#####s

Let’s hope we can finally beat them for once and get this mourinho woo doo off our back and start a new chapter in rivalry.

  5. I said to my chelsea mate we are gonna defeat you this Sunday and show who’s a better manager

He said he won’t feel bad even if they lose cause they will still be top of the league

He laughed at me and said 14 attempts 0 win against our manager and with 1 win all of that will change and called me deluded

I can’t tell you guys how much I want arsenal to win this match

    1. It’s not wise at all to chat with any chelsea fan nowadays, hahaha …. But if we win (very unlikely) I will go down the street just looking for any blue shirt … Come on Wenger

        1. Hahaha, I hate mourinho and utd very much and I really want us to hit them hard, but tbh right now I would be very satisfied even by 1/2-0 … draw would also be a good result

  6. Poldi wants to change the team.. He will never get chance to play with Sanchez in the team. We should better sell him, good for both parties. Sad to see him going though.

    1. There is a problem with Podolski in that he is the joker in the club.Wenger can’t stand jokers he feels they don’t take his way seriously he will never be a first choice he will be gone this season as will Rosicky. Can you imagine Wenger telling a joke He is a serious man when in training Podolski is not a serious player now he knows he will always now be a bench player, shame cause I did rate him . CB

  7. Stubbornness, arrogance, unnecessary pride, these qualities from Arsene keep hurting the Club.

  8. Being realistic, a win is not in the cards for us this weekend. A draw is a miracle in my book. When it comes down to it, Mourinho knows how to beat Wenger, because Wenger plays the same way against him every single time, expecting to win.

    1. @RSH
Here’s something many of you are missing. If our squad came out to play like they did against Napoli, then we could do anyone on the day. The thing Chelsea have over us is not tactics, its “FIGHT” That last match, we laid down for them. No one fought, they just sat back and took the ass whoopin, then went on f**kn twitter. So it ain’t AW or his tactics, it’s those mufkkaz out on the pitch.
Come Sunday, watch Alexis and then watch the rest…
      Alexis ain’t no f**kn punk.

  9. Yeah, serious quality but the players are still so fragile and delicate, there’s no point having all this quality if they just get injured all the time because they’re too weak.

  10. Seriously Arsenal needs to park the bus and let Chelsea come. I think Mourinho will also hold defenders back as he is scared of our speedy attack.

We should play with 5 defenders.

    ———–Ospina
    Chambers-Hayden-Kos-Mert-Gibbs
    ———-Carzola———-
    Ox, Ozil, Sanchez
    ——Welbz—–

Let Chelsea come and play counter.

  11. I just saw the 6-0 again. We had 2 wingers high up. Leaving mert and Kos to defend. Error in midfield enwe get over run. Simple as that.

  12. For once I totally agree with what has been written. You may have heard of the saying: “necessity is the mother of invention”. Well, of necessity because his favourite Brits, Wilshere and Ramsey, were injured, Wenger played the best combination yet this season. You CAN NOT leave a fit Ox out of the team. Admittedly he’s still a bit raw at times, but boy, does he keep the defence occupied. And with Sanchez steaming down the other wing, and Özil conducting the orchestra from the middle, it was a joy to watch. At last we played with PACE, last seen when Overmars and Bergkamp were playing. And most pleasing of all – we played through the middle!! Enough already with this pussyfooting around and spreading the ball to the wide players when we are already on the edge of the penalty area. I will be surprised and very disappointed if Wenger does not put the same team on against Chelsea that ran out last night.

  13. Why do u constantly question the coach’s tactics and then every time his line up gets a win,u start owning it as if u are the ones who selected the players to start? And playing players out of position.I will only believe that Wenger is crazy when i see Carzola playing centre-back.

  14. Did nobody see see how crap the Galatasary defence was? It was very, VERY poor. No pace at all, completely disorganised, no communication at all. Welbeck managed to walk through this defence time and time again, and sometimes he sprinted through it …. yet with all those chances he had, he managed only 3 goals.

It is ridiculous thinking this team against Chelsea will get the same result. It takes just one weak link for it go tits up and I predict it will be Ozil’s laziness. Chelsea will counter-attack constantly and there will be nobody running back to help defend, no DM will be present and and also one of our centre-halves will be out of position trying to get back to our defence from Chelsea’s area.

Same old same old. I think we all know Wenger by now. Even the author of this article has said in the title, “If Wenger uses it correctly”. We are too used to seeing him not manage the team correctly.

There will be nonsense substitutions, weird team selection and 100% guaranteed at least one player out of position. A non-effort player will make it seem we are playing with 10 men and Wenger will wait until the 75th Minute before substituting him. This will be after he takes off the Man Of The Match for no reason and replace him with Sanogo or some other experiment.

    1. @Arsenal1Again
They were set up to disrupt us in midfield, thinking that if they clog up the mid we would be put off our game. The pace and use of our wingers caught them off guard. Playing 3 at the back didn’t help their cause none either…

The way you think is probably the way some of our players think. Lost cause before even givin it a go. Thats one of our main problems when facing top opposition…

  15. I hope Wenger uses the same team, same format and placements. Only change would be Diaby for Flamini.

But don’t be surprised if Wenger goes to 4-3-3 and puts Ozil on the left, just to prove a point.
