Arsenal in 3-way battle for Dutch star´s FREE transfer?

If there is any truth to the latest twist on one of the ongoing Arsenal transfer rumours, it will certainly add an extra bit of spice to what is already shaping up to be one o0f the most hard fought and hotly contested races for the Premier League top four ever.

The Gunners were already said to be in a direct contest with one big rival, Manchester United, for the signature of the Aston Villa and Holland international defender Ron Vlaar. So the football media were all thinking that whichever club secures a place in the Champions League, if it is only to be one of us, would have a big advantage when it comes to persuading Vlaar where to go.

And now that another of our top four rivals Southampton have joined the race for the 30-year old centre back, according to a Daily Express report, it has become even more tasty.

Who finishes in the top four and who seals the transfer of Vlaar will not become clear for some months but what does seem certain is that Vlaar will not be staying at his current club. The World Cup star is out of contract in the summer and has reportedly made it clear to his new manager Tim Sherwood that he will not be signing a new deal.

But is he the right player for Arsenal and if so, will we be able to beat our rivals to get him?

  1. ron vlaar? ohh yeahhh, just what the doctor ordered.

which doctor? no, no an actual WITCH doctor, has cast a spell on arsene an convinced him that ron ‘the bomb’ vlaar is actually amazing

  2. Huge news story!!!
Yes the Vlaardiater is the one all right.
Bahhh Loony D’aww winner for sure 🙂
But he is only 30, we need experience.
Get Willie Young 63 and David Oleary 56
and Frank McLintock is a sprightly 74
and of course we could invest 100 mill
    getting the Squid back 🙂 🙂 🙂
    Roll on match day pleaseeeeeeeeeee.

  3. OT: Why don’t we all fans chip in and create a statue for our Little Mozart outside the Emirates. Just a thought!

    1. Don’t get me wrong I love the way Rosicky plays. But what exactly did he achieve with Arsenal to earn himself a statue?
It’s just said that injuries hampered his career because I think he is one of if not the most talented player in our squad at the moment. Maybe without all the injuries he had we could be talking about a statue. The truth is he could never really fulfill his huge potential due to injuries (similar to Diaby).

  4. Y can’t we sign tony adms 56, Sol campbell 42 and a new arsenal captain Roberto carlos 58 because of experience. Vlaar is to young and inexperienced at a little age of 30yrs

  5. I’d like to see Hayden get a look in next year behind Kos, Gabriel and Mertesacker. The BFG may be closing in on 30 but he’s still got another 25 years of top flight football left in him – it’s not like he’ll get any shorter or slower….

  6. Honestly, why is Ron Vlaar considered this amazing defender all of a sudden? The guy is 30, at the end of his peak, if he was this world class player everyone seems to think he is then he wouldnt be at Aston Villa. He had an average world cup in a team that played with 5 defenders, that’s it really.
