Arsenal interest confirmed by young defender’s agent. Gabriel replacment?

Bjorn Engels Ivan Reggiani agent has revealed that Arsenal and Tottenham have both made bids to sign his client.

The Club Brugge defender has been raising his stock since starring in the second half of last term’s Belgian Pro League, and is being tipped for a move this summer.

Engels has been in and out of the first-team for a few years with his club, but stamped his foot down on a regular slot from January. Tottenham and Arsenal are now claimed to hold an interest in his signature, and his agent is keen on a move to England.

Riggiani said: “I see him more in the Premier League, he’s a player I would definitely invest in, because he still has a relatively affordable figure, about €10m. I wouldn’t think twice.

“The only problem, as I know, is that both Arsenal and Tottenham have already made concrete offers. I think at the moment with Sampdoria there is no history for the player.”

Arsenal allowed Gabriel Paulista to join Valencia in a reported £10 Million deal this week, leaving room in our squad for another defender, although Calum Chamber returned from a loan deal at the end of the campaign, and could well be set to take up that role.

We also added Sead Kolasinac to our playing squad, who has been playing as part of our back-three, although he is expected to feature more heavily at left wing-back when we have a fully fit squad.

Kieran Gibbs,. Mathieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson are linked with the exit door, and the latter duo will surely leave this month, which should free up more room for another addition at the back.

Could Engels be just that man? At £10 Million is the atypical Arsene Wenger signing?

  1. Yes, he is a typical Wenger’s signing. Young and affordable. Plus he looks like a young Mertesacker!

  2. I’m 100% certain we have made a bid for this one, whenever you have to google the player’s name, Wenger is always highly interested to sign such player and compete with Chelsea,City and United with such a player.

  3. Another weak player to add to the ranks. If you look at 50/50 challenges alone in the whole league, Arsenal players pull of of more challenges than any other teams players.

There is no emphasis placed on defending in training, just pass and more passes. How else can you explain the same mistakes year after year.

The only positive this season is that players are shooting, that is the result of the Lacazette Factor. The Lacazette factor states that since his arrival, overated players in the team are now scared of losing they’re place so they start shooting when around goal, albeit poor ones.

  4. This rumor i completely believe. €10 cost, relatively unknown, and no interest shown in player by big clubs with trophy ambitions.
Man utd, chelsea, real madrid and Barcelona no where in sight, so wenger probably already offering this kid a wage packet.
All thats missing is 70k weekely wages and immense difficulty selling him on 2 years from now.

Thats the typical wenger signing these days; overpaying in weekly wages and can’t sell the player later b/c of ridiculous wages for backups.

Another book on the shelf at Emirates public Library

  5. Considering the mess that Wenger is putting the club in,by accumulating deadwood I am worried who would want to succeed him?
Wenger will run this club before he goes

    1. You are so right, maybe the board will regret letting him have complete control over footballing matters after all. WengerOut

  6. 1 minute we salivating over the likes of £120M mbappe then we resort to type looking at £10M bjorn engels (…ridiculous in as much as there’s no continuity).

    1. Did anyone seriously expect us to complete a signing of that much money? We all wish our club and manager would make the signings and coaching changes to help us to actually become the club we were told we would be when we moved to the Emirates but I think the time has come when a lot of fans (including myself) would disbelieve them if they told us the sky was blue.

        1. Oh I hoped they (they still might) but the chances of it happening were always low in reality weren’t they?

  7. I know nothing about this player. Typical Wenger signing. No Van Dijk or any top central defender for us LOL. We should still survive with Koscielny, Mustafi, Kolsanic, Holding, Chambers and Mertsacker though.

A top CM who can defend like Carvalho or Goretzka would make up for it but that’s unlikely too. I’m not interested in Brozovic. He will not be an upgrade to Xhaka, Ramsey, Wilshere.

Seri close to going to Barcelona for around £36million by release clause activation. This is the reason you should not wait till the end to sign players. Get work done early. We could have signed him by activating his release clause in June.

Good news: Transfer window is nearly closed
Bad news: It’s nearly closed lol and very unlikely we will get any top players

Looks like Wenger is opting to being back Campbell than getting Lemar or Draxler. The cheaper option 🙁
United are in for both players and signing Ibrahimovich too. Mourinho really wants to win this season.

  8. I’d be shocked if Arsenal signed another player this summer. We can’t even get rid of Gibbs because of the joke wages we pay average players. Arsenal needed an overhaul this summer and it has been nothing of the sort, which was pretty predictable but it is still disheartening.

  9. Why wenger not consider Krychowiak since he knows the midfield have problem. Right now, Chelsea & West Ham are considering to bring him. Why wenger? Why..

  10. When the board is gone that’s when will start wining …….Plus there is so much crap and rubbish in what the media is writing also with refs on the other teams side what chance have we ,ESpecially that full Man Utd fan of talk sport ADIEN SOMETHING He is the biggest full who just hates AFC and no respect for wenger I can’t stand the stupid full …we have to get behind our team ..

    1. Why should he respect Wenger, half of our fan base doesn’t so why should he as a non arsenal fan. I’ve heard him on talksport too and although I don’t like the bloke I think a lot of what he talks about is actually fairly true. We aren’t title challenger’s, we are nowhere near challenging for the champions league, that isn’t an opinion that’s a fact. If an arsenal fan can say that why can’t Adrian Durham on talksport, time to face reality, with Wenger, the current board and majority shareholder we are a million miles off where we were told we would be when we left Highbury and no matter how many times we as fans are told to get behind the team and manager that won’t change the table come May.

  11. Never hear of him and he’s cheap, so yeah we’ll probably sign him, that’s a real AW kind of signing there.
