Arsenal legend urges Wenger to break the bank to sign this French star

It is one thing for Arsenal to identify the perfect player to go and get in the transfer market this summer, but another thing entirely for the board and Arsene Wenger, assuming it is the Frenchman who is going to manage the Gunners again next season, to actually beat all the other interested clubs to complete the transfer.

Having said that, it is not always easy to identify the right player, so maybe the former arsenal and France international star Robert Pires has done Wenger a big favour this week, as he has claimed in an interview with BWIN that he has found the perfect player for the boss to sign at the end of the current season, and that player is another Frenchman Antoine Griezmann.

Pires said, “Antoine Griezmann. He’s the perfect signing for Arsenal, but I know he’ll be very expensive. I think he’ll break the £100 million mark and I know Manchester United are keen to buy him, but for me, if I had the chance I would spend every penny I have on Griezmann. He’s one of the best players in the world not named Ronaldo or Messi.”

You feel that Arsenal have to be strong in the transfer window this summer, whoever is going to be in charge. If it is Wenger then you would think that he would be asking for the club to flex our financial muscles and spend a lot of the money that his time in charge has given us, but can you see us competing with the likes of Chelsea, Man City and United to sign Griezmann?

Wenger: I could buy a whole squad for that and have change left over

Mustafi, Xhaka, Lucas and Holding = £100 million 😕👉 Holding the best buy by a country mile and cost less than £2 million lol.
Wenger has basically ruined the other three within their first season at the club.😮

FLAT NOOOOOO,IT’S TOO LATE. HE’LL DO THE SAME THING THAT HE DONE TO MOST OF THE PLAYERS THAT HAD ANY GOOD POTENTIAL. GRIESMANN WOULD PROBABLY BE ORDERED NOT TO SHOOT OUTSIDE THE 18 YRD. BOX, I COULD ONLY SEE HIM REGRESS UNDER WENGER

Yeh, like whatever Pires matters one bit.

It’s more spin trying to fool the fans that the club has real ambition. They don’t. Recent History tells us the real story.

Try not to be fooled people!

Sell those who refuse to play and those who are no good for this level. This makes 150M. Put another 50M on top and build a new team. This is the result of greedy policy during the last 3 years. Cash in the bank or may be in America is a dreadful policy. Do not blame Wenger. He did not receive the money. The best players got tired of the situation and did not make any more effort. Now the game is over. You cannot go further with the same men.

Beaumkont – interesting notions implied in your post. You can sell those that are not good enough for this level and want to leave for 150M??? To whom would we sell them? AND we can build a new team for 200M????? For 200M you don’t even get 2 world class players these days and you need more than 2 to compete for major trophies. So IMO your math is a bit unrealistic on both ends.

Won’t happen… We can’t spend like the big clubs do. Blah blah blah

More importantly Wenger said fans will know what his decision is come March/April. It’s now MAY!! That performance yesterday was nothing more than embarrasing and quite frankly expected.

If somehow we can win the FA cup, Wenger for you’re own sake. Walk away with some dignity.

Didn’t Pires say last week that Wenger was going to sign Mbappe this summer.

Griezmann won’t sign for Arsenal, the two main reasons are, we more than likely won’t have CL football, and there is no way we’ll pay that sort of money on one player, can yo imagine the board saying to Wenger, “here’s £100 million for Griezmann, and here’s another £100 million for 2 or 3 more quality players, and don’t worry about the salaries, we’ll pay them the going amount”.

    It’s not going to happen.

Yeah, Pires did say the same thing about Mbpape and that also ended with the Valuation of the player more than likely being the stumbling block.😂👍

I Liked Pires during his Arsenal playing days, which seems like many moons ago and to think that he is still in training with the club, one can only wonder that here’s another player that Wenger let go of too early (age policy, only giving 1 year extension to 29-30 year olds) More proof that Wenger is tooooo slow in changing his stubborn ways.

It’s strange how Pires is making a lot noise of late, regarding transfers lol What’s he after, then?😉

Deep down Wenger will be happy because he already has a excuse for failing miserably again next season(and he surely will because he is a WC manager at failing). He will blame it on Arsenal playing in the Europa League.

Yeah spend 100m on him and then offer him the same type of salary as Walcott, makes perfect sense.

For £100 mils? No thanks. If we ought to break the bank, it should be on a new manager or Mbappe.

Lacazette has scored +100 goals in 4 seasons. He’s got every trait as Griezmann, same height and build. Same age as well and less than half the price.

Wenger: We have plenty of forwards even if Alexis leaves: Giroud, Walcott, Welbeck, Lucas, Campbell, Iwobi, Sanogo, Akpom

    Yes plenty of average forwards

So Wenger will still be our manager as ex players are urging him to sign players. Agony agony agony.. Arsenal fans hardly get their wish.

Yup, apparently 2 more years then he will become our footballing director/ backseat Manager pulling the shots from behind the scenes, giving orders to the Yes man that replaces him in the dugout…. Probably Henry😂

Wenger cannot be trusted to spend any more money, he loves wasting it! New contracts recently for Mertesacker, and Giroud, new contracts being worked on for the likes of Wilshere, and Ramsey! Jenkinson, and Sanogo still at Arsenal!!! Come on now, no more…please!

Wenger has no Respect for the Arsenal Fans he does not give a Monkey’s what they think and the Arsenal Board are the same. But they still expects you to spend your hard earned Cash on Tickets and Arsenal Apparel. It is Time for the Fans to stand up to him stop going to the Games and stop buying Apparel from the Arsenal Shop. When the money stops coming in then maybe something will change.

Well, He’s very clever man. He delayed his decision on purpose. Firstly, he was waiting for few results to go on his way and Also i just read Allegri could not wait any longer for an Arsenal approach and is going to sign contract extension with Juve so..First , results have been same and secondly We’re screwed al. The Only relevant coach left around is Jardim and he needs to be nab quick with a pre contract but Mr Wenger has signed a 2 years extension. We, i repeat We the fans can not tolerate this shameful decision by the board not giving a damn about the real people who make this football club..THE FANS. No trophies no Contract, No progress No contract extension.. More protests are needed but peacefully. Banners come out in MASS and no matter In or Out it has to happen. No More humiliations..No More False promises, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

I agree that jardim is a kind of coach we need desperately. Attacking and aggressive football which overturned monaco. I wish Wenger with due respect must move on. It’s a human nature who wants to see different things around. I still don’t believe we are at his position and desperation. Arsenal board are a bunch of hypocrites who doesn’t show fans any respect. I am feeling burning out by looking spuds and chelski flying high. Wenger never learn from his mistakes and negative approach. Chelski and spuds have fooled him and made him look like his ideas are frozen and dumbed. Gazidis and Wenger are eating away fans money and have nothing to do with fans loyalty.
Is there anyone who can listen to we fans. My whole is just going like what can be done to change our arsenal… Gunners forever….

So according to Pires we should be playing with this team next season?

    Giroud
    Griezmann
    Sanchez Xhaka Cazorla Mbappe
    Monreal Koscielny Mustafi Bellerin
    Cech

    Not too bad actually

100m spent on 1 player? Hmm not to sure about that.
To be honest I think we sell sanchez and ozil,(get a decent enough 10 to replace him for 20m/25m) and then buy griezman obviously if we could.
It shouldn’t be overlooked that even our much berated giroud has a very good connection with griezman when playing for France.
International football is different to the premier league though no??

Agree that xhaka and mustafi have been damaged 1st season and Lucas I’m not sure as we never see him play. Seems crazy as I’ve been excitednot see More everytime he’s played.

Griezman is the one player I think it’s worth breaking the bank for-

Because him and Giroud together are proven success story at the very highest most pressurised level.

Ozil, Sanchez could do absolute wonders with that guy up front.

Not saying it’s likely to happen. Only that I wish it would!
