Arsenal must be serious, stay calm, and keep our run going

Arsenal must take control over CL group this time by KM

Hello good Arsenal people. How are you? Are you prepared for the champions league? We started the group with a difficult away game at PSG and we got a valuable point, which puts us in a real good position if we play our cards right.

Much was said over how we treated this tournament last season and how we rotated our goalkeeper and the mistakes he made. This time around we rotated the GK again, and Ospina made some brilliant saves and I’m pretty sure he’ll start again. On the other hand I feel like we might introduce players like the Ox or Gibbs.

I hope we put out our strongest squad. Basel has had a good history against English teams and I really hope we take it seriously and do our best to win the group. We’re on a good run featuring 5 straight wins in all competitions, but we’ve seen this before. Arsenal start slow, than build up momentum, then we crumble again. This is why it’s so hard to draw conclusions from the Chelsea game.

I’ll be watching the other game of the group live, because when you are a foreign fan and Arsenal is about to visit your country, you don’t miss the chance to see the game, even if it means buying a ticket for all the games, because you can’t buy just for the one you want to see, but anyway I’ll take a good look around the opposition of our group.

We are on a good run and we have quality, we’ve had it for years and we’ve been here before. The same question we ask ourselves now is how far can we stretch this run. Can we keep up with the championship pace? The one thing we have now is a squad. When Coquelin got injured we didn’t have a giant hole in midfield, we had Xhaka, who slotted in nicely and even if we lost Xhaka, we still have Elneny, a powerhouse of a midfielder and Ramsey is soon to return.

We have a squad, now we have to show the mentality. We have 8 very favourable fixtures coming up. Let’s keep our cool and start with the champions league. Our run there is easier as well on paper. If we don’t underestimate it, we should be cruising through to the last 16.

  1. II just hope we start with the same intensity as we did against chelsea, if so then I would opt for this team:

    Ospina
    Bellerin Mustafi Kos Monreal

    Elneny Xhaka

    Perez Ozil Chamberlain

    Giroud

I know everyone says you should start your best eleven regardless but we pressed chelsea intensely for most of that game, the players are going to be at least a bit fatigued, if we can’t field some of our second choice players at home against basle then our squad isnt good enough in my eyes, and this should give some players the confidence to go out and make a name for themselves.

  2. Yeah as boss said, keep it one game at a time.. Don’t set long term targets.. The problem with us has mainly been that we get carried away when we are on a run of victories.. That has been the case during 13-14 and 15-16 seasons..

Aw needs to realise and work on how to keep the mentality and belief right.. Now he has got the resources, “The Players”.. It’s time to produce the results.. One good game at a time.. That’s it..

  3. You say “I hope we put out our strongest squad” against Basel tonight, and then also mention that Ox or Gibbs might start. That pretty much discredited the whole article for me. Gibbs is an okay backup to Nacho. I can see him been used sparingly here and there, like FA/EFL Cup games, or when we need to close out a game like we did against Chelsea last weekend. Ox, on the other hand, should not be allowed nowhere near the pitch, IMHO. He’s way down in the pecking order, and his recent performances showed nothing to change that. Whether it’s his confidence, or lack of effort, but I’m at the point where I would not be sad if he got sold, or went out on loan, like Jackie boy.
