Arsenal need ‘fantastic run’ to ensure Champions League

Lots of Arsenal fans seem uninterested in the last run out of game until the end of the season now that it looks impossible to catch Leicester City for the title, but Arsene Wenger is very aware that there is still much work to do just to ensure that the Gunners will make the Champions League as usual next season, especially with the added complication of Liverpool maybe gaining entry via the Europa League.

Arsenal are currently in 4th after Man City’s win over Chelsea yesterday, but can regain a two point gap over City with a win today. Also Leicester face West Ham in the early game and could go a massive 15 points clear of us but Wenger is adamant that the team has to keep fighting whatever result the Foxes get today. “The perception is that the league is over,” Wenger said. “That perception can still have twists and turns until the end of the season.

“Our job is to make sure that we have a go until the last game of the season, until the last minute of the season, forget what other people believe and show that we are capable of dealing with this kind of pressure, as well as showing that our ambition is not artificial but real.

“The only little chance we have is to give absolutely everything in every single game, starting on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

“I believe the quality of our performances recently have been very strong and we want to continue to build on that.

“Of course there’s the short term, and we have to look behind us as well. Everybody will fight like mad to be in a Champions League spot, so we absolutely need a fantastic run until the end of the season.”

On paper Arsenal look like they have an easy run, but if us and City win every game it is going to come down to our clash at the Etihad in the penultimate game of the season. Wenger is right, the season is far from over….

  1. I hope Andy Carroll draws level with Harry Kane in the top goal scorer league table after the Leicester game today.

  2. I never knew City is now so close to us…
And I can’t believe our season can come down to a fight for top4 again…
Whether me make it or not, I personally don’t care…

    1. Citeh are not only close but ahead of us with a point………

      #AppaLingStuff#

Let’s see what happens against the eagles this eve

    1. Twig…
I so much covet De Bryne…
I wish he is an Arsenal player..
A complete offensive player, with good passes and goalscoring capabilities…
Not overly dependent on passes, like some of our players..
      *cough*

      1. he gets better believe me. majestic player kdb.

we wouldnt pay 55 million for messi let alone kdb

        #warchest

      2. With Wenger, Ivan and Kroenke, you ought to lower your wishes to “I wish we had a player like Deeney or Lescott”. Only bargains, never top class players because theyre doing good and we really want to buy them. Sanchez, Özil and Cech all because they were being replaced in their former clubs, thus on the transfer list. Although Elneny has been good, is he, Gabriel and Welbeck the type of quality we want to buy? Ofc not. Are they the type of quality that brings in the most profit per invested pound? Apparently, since Kroenke doesn’t want to go higher.

Wenger is in Arsenal for another year, but for how much longer will Kroenke torture and drain us fans for money? Until the brand of his is in a heavy decline? Until Dangote has the money from his refinery to buy out Kroenke (and will he even sell his shares, the bloody XXXXXXXXXXX)? We the fans can only sit back and endure Kroenke the tyrant.

    2. Now u saying Wenger shoulda paid over the odds and got us De bruyne?

Okay, there’s a second chance to have done that with “Auba”

[NB: De bruyne was bundesliga’s highest goal scorer last season, now it’s Auba]

      but wenger isn’t our guy

  3. When we are gunning for Top4,
we have no match at all
Paul Merson said “Arsenal are the best in the world when not under pressure”

Wenger can motivate our present academy to make the Top4,..that’s his calling…

    1. if theo leaves im not saying i would be happy.
but that unicorn ive kept in storage will be freed to find love

  4. Yawn….

How exciting and inspiring. The race to ensure Wenger keeps his job and gets a contract extension and for us to fail next year as we did the last 12.

    Viva Kroenke!
    Long Live le Prof!‎

  5. Any run now will not be “fantastic” unless we win the League

Also finishing 2nd will be disappointing but finishing behind Spuds would just be unthinkable especially if they win the league. If we don’t win it I hope Leicester does

Until it’s mathematically impossible I will still have some hope of winning the league though

    1. i knew we wouldnt win when the transfer window shut.
we had a squad that with a simeone klopp motivator type could have won , but without that we had to rely on individual talent being bought to add to the ‘cohesion’

      same as every year

      1. Where is Mr Cohesion by the way? Is he injured? When he comes back he’ll be like a new signing!!

  6. Let all stupidity talks stopped henceforth! And let the title winning hopes light continues to burn in us upto the end of burning of the title’s burning lamb.

  7. IT IS EVERYONE FAULT IF WE ARE IN THE POSITION WE ARE.
    EACH GAME IS DIFFERENT
OUR STRIKERS MUST SCORE WHEN NEEDED
AND OUR DEFENDERS MUST DEFEND WELL WHEN NEEDED
YOU CANNOT BRING STATISTICS AND SAY LOOK IT S THIS ONE FAULT BECAUSE THIS AND THAT.
WE NEED KILLER STRIKERS WE NEED TOP CLASS DEFENDERS THEM WE WON T BE IN THIS POSITION

  8. Why are people fixated with the Champions league? 17 years in a row one final and a lot of heart break. I am beginning to sound like a broken record Arsenal we do nothing as long as wenger is at the helm!!!!!!! All the other so called top 4 have won it, UTD, Chelsea, Liverpool, and now City might even get it, but us, no!
