Arsenal need to be more flexible in these contract negotiations

Arsenal must renew the contracts of their star players to show seriousness By Sylvester Kwentua

Dear Gooners, it is high time we got the contracts of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil sorted out and show how big and serious we are as a club. Arsenal needs to realize that football has gone money crazy and must dance to the new tune in football, as the music has changed! Arsenal needs to wake up from their dream of hoping to hold on to star players without paying them what they are worth.

The future of Sanchez and Ozil has been questioned recently, as many people are suggesting that they need to move elsewhere if they are to achieve the success that their talent deserves. A Daily Mail report today has suggested that despite having cash reserves of £100million, Arsenal Chairman Sir Chips Keswick will not accept the huge increase in salaries that the players have requested. Mesut Ozil is currently the club’s top earner, with £140,000 per week, but is said to be looking for a weekly wage of £250,000 in order to sign a new deal, with Alexis Sanchez looking for something similar.

Arsenal are looking to tie down current players before the season ends, in order for them to strengthen in the summer, as they look to mount a challenge for silverware next season. Francis Coquelin, Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla have all recently agreed to extend their stay with the Gunners.

Whilst it is a respectable stance by the Arsenal chairman, not giving in to every demand of players, if Sanchez and Ozil are allowed to leave, the Gunners may find it very difficult to replace them and may never replace them, as no big player will be motivated to come play for Arsenal. If we can’t offer them trophies, why can’t we offer them the money? This habit of paying players money that is not compatible with their profile will not get us any star players. Arsenal has to learn fast or else we may never be competitive.

Even clubs who are not as financially buoyant as our club are paying high wages to their star players and they are seeing the results. Players like Messi, Ronaldo, Higuain, Aguero and even Harry Kane of Tottenham F.C, earn high wages and they deliver on a regular basis. These are big time players and big time players earn big money. Please Arsenal, pay Sanchez his worth, pay Ozil his worth, or risk losing them to clubs who know their worth and who will use them to hurt us in the future! A word is enough for the wise.

  1. 1 Difference between Mourinho and Wenger is that Mourinho wants to win every trophy badly. Mourinho wanted the League Cup and he got it
We lost to Birmingham City (a relegated team that year) because we put out a weak team.
I wish we had won the League Cup
Every season we put out weak teams in League cup
We can’t be picky about only wanting to win PL and CL
And even some fans don’t care about the FA Cup

We played quite poorly against Sutton
If we don’t take the FA Cup seriously, Mourinho will get two trophies this season whilst we will have no trophies

  2. The board through that fat gloat sir chips, made it clear that they can’t pay what Sanchez and Ozil are asking for. So get ready for a life without Sanchez and Ozil. We will miss only Sanchez. The funny thing is that this board charges the fans the highest ticket price in Europe and what do they get in return……..NOTHING. Big changes are needed at our beloved club.

  3. I have a question for the admin. Why do you keep publishing pointless and utterly uninteresting writings from the same guy, Sylvester Kwentua? Like at least three in a row. I understand the man is bored but whatever he submitted is simply rubbish. It is very much ok not to post anything when nothing of note happens. The guy is really pathetic and he regurgitates topics we all discussed and started here in the comments section. How is that for quality?
