Arsenal open talks and will surely sign this quality defender

I am very glad to hear that Arsenal are not wasting any time in trying to sign a replacement for our World Cup winning centre back Per Mertesacker, after the beanpole German picked up a knee injury in the Gunners’ first pre-season outing against the French club Lens last week.

It seems that Arsene Wenger may just have fallen on his feet here as well, because the player in question. Shkodran Mustafi, was also part of that German World Cup winning squad in Brazil two years ago. He was only 22-years old at the time and so was not a regular first teamer but he did come on twice and would have played more but for a knock that ruled him out.

Mustafi has become one of the first names on the Valencia team sheet since moving to Spain’s La Liga two summers back but the Spanish club need money after missing out on the Champions League qualifying spots last season. That is why they are not only willing to sell him, but according to The Mirror have told Arsenal that we would onmly have to fork out around half of his €50 million release clause.

It appears that this was what Wenger needed to hear because Sky Sports are today reporting that we have already begun the transfer talks. Is it be just a matter of days before Mustafi joins his fellow Germans Ozil and co in north London…

    1. mustafi is a good fit. a good signing.
      we are not getting mahrez.

please do not get your hopes up

      1. le butuer have got in touch with source close to mahrez who has been used before for updates on injuries etc.

arsene has bo intention of going after mahrez has made no contact. there is nothing from afc.

a good defender an a mid tier striker….thats the window done lads.

better than last year window but im glad i got rid of season ticket .

        promises havent been kept.
will always supporr, just being frugal with the money like a certain frenchman i know 🙂

        1. Mid tier striker? Who is that then as I wasn’t aware we have signed any striker other than the japaneses fella.

      2. Mustafi is a perfect for Arsenal and exactly who I have wanted as a CB signing. He is very mobile, comfortable on the ball, young but has lots of experience at a high level, (including 12 caps for an overloaded Germany defense) and a good header of the ball at both ends of the pitch.

Anyone know any rumors of wingers being lined up other than mahrez? Im losing hope on signing him and I haven’t heard anything about any alternatives. Theo just doesnt look like he’ll cut it this season.

    1. I think it’s two that he wants though. He’s repeated it a few times now that it’s a forward and a defender. Whether its bs or not time will tell.

I highly doubt we will get the three players people believe we need. Last night I was looking at Walcott, Ox, Adelaide, Iwobi and he still has Gnabry around. Ramsey, Cazorla, who he doesn’t mind using out wide. I cannot see Marhez coming, nor Draxler, with everything we know of Wenger, I believe it was very wishful of us to think he’d bring in another without selling first. Pity really, if it got sorted with the right player, we would have three behind the striker who resemble the ilk of old (stature).

  1. I just hope that Wenger remembers who his targets are lol
The old boy, embarrassingly forgot how many teams there are in the premier league ? Who said that he doesn’t suffer from senile dementia? ? Well… That would explain all the Groundhog day’s, over the last decade. ?

  2. His stats seem pretty impressive enough. I also think it’s usually a clever idea to bring in German national players. Sky sports did report this, but were they not just reporting what came from Germany’s sky channel. It all sounds very true, and I suppose in Germany they would be ahead of the pack when it comes to their own countries players. Must admit, the Euros is the first I ever saw of him, Germany done well on the clean sheet front and this guy deserves some credit at least.

  3. So no Top tier striker then??
(Lacazetta doesnt count as top tier not that we are getting him at any rate) the situation is still Stupid as we should have had cover when we were going into the new season that should have been purchased in the last couple of seasons.
We are buying in a defender that we were NOT originally seeking and now we wont be in for a striker so although we may not be letting in as many goals as before we certainly wont be scoring any more with the lampost up front. (Giroud)
this situation is a must buy situation for cover not a buy out of choice, and thats why we defiantly WONT see a stiker top tier or otherwise comming in this summer.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH ARSENE if youd have brought in a defender last summer we wouldnt be in this position!!!!!
