Arsenal player ratings for Swansea win – Campbell MOTM

THe stats might show that some of his Arsenal team mates perhaps performed a little better or influenced the game more, with Mesut Ozil’s all round game and assists, Giroud’s centre forward work and headed goal, Koscielny’s defensive steel and goal and Alexis’ usual Duracell bunny act all helping the Gunners to a vital win.

But I am giving my Man of the Match decision to Joel Campbell, who really grabbed this rare chance with both hands, working tirelessly to help Bellerin as well as causing problems in attack and taking his goal very well.

Cech 7.5 – Made some vital saves at key points.

Bellerin 7 – Given a stern test by Montero but kept going well.

Mertesacker 6 – Not the best of games from the big German who could have cost us the points.

Koscielny 8 . Got forward well and scored to add to his sharp defensive work.

Monreal 6.5 – Struggled defensively and in attack.

Coquelin 7.5 – Another solid and valuable game from our midfield warrior.

Cazorla 7.5 – Defensively naive at times but still set the tempo.

Campbell 8.5 – Fantastic shift on his Premier League debut. Hopefully much more to come.

Ozil 8 – A bit quiet to start but his class shone through in the end.

Alexis 7.5 – Worked hard as usual but lacking a little cutting edge.

Giroud 7.5 – Recovered well after early miss. Good centre forard performance.

Subs: None of the three had much time to do anything.

  1. I was impressed with the boys especially in the 2nd half but my man of the Match got to be Bellerin. That pace to get back when Gomis was through on goal was OUTstanding. The block he made (Ayews shot) even though it was offside’ that was another great save. Hector Bellerin!

    1. @Uzi Ozil
Straight up. Hector B went above and beyond the call of duty yesterday. Per needs to take a page out of this dudes book when it comes to playing the whistle…

      1. Bellerin could run up and down the pitch four times before per would reach the halfway line. Man he’s fast

  2. Waiting for moaninho sacking.. He says “I feel sorry that there is lack of respect for professionals”. As if he gives respect to others. Chelsea fans learnt from him. His words are biting his ass!! Ginkcuf!!

    1. I would love for Moaninho to be sacked by Chelsea and then appointed as manager at Villa..lol..that would be EPIC !!!!

      1. @leoaw: urs is also good idea. Abramowitch should not sack him yet. Moaninho should keep in loosing n he should reach a state where he gives SACK REQUEST to Abra….

    2. soon they’d be fade up of that “He’s one of us” banner ……..and would want him Lynched!

    3. heard the chelsea brewery is seriously considering “Andre villa boas” as the way forward! L()L

  3. This season feels different..Even if we start poorly(Watford,Bayern,Everton,Swansea) we go into the break at 0-0 and then just kill off the opposition in the 2nd half..

  4. If Campbell could put a run of games together at that level then I would consider him a viable option through the middle too. He does actually hold the ball up, has pace and tricks.

Anyhoo, I think Ozil was MOTM but we had so much in the second half that it could have been a couple of players.

  5. I was really afraid of this game because things in AFC can turn so easily … Excellent result …
Bellerin and Monreal really upped their game exponentially … Ozil is a brand but Cazorla is the real master of our midfield … Sanchez looks tired but no one can match his battery efficiency …
Used to bash Giroud and yet not a big fan of him, but yesterday he was really influential …

I think Gab should start every match ahead of Mert …

  6. I think Bellerin will grow stronger in his defensive duty as he continues to play-on in Arsenal games. And as Campbell has broken his starting and scoring duck for Arsenal at the same time yesterday, he will get better if he didn’t relent to keep improving the quality of his game for Arsenal at all times.

  7. The FA has released Nine new rules to protect Chelsea from relegation. . 1. Chelsea will be allowed to field 13 players during home games and 15 during away games. . 2. If they win 2 consecutive corners kicks they will be awarded a penalty. . 3. Any attempt on goal will be treated as a goal.. Including off target shots. . 4. If a Chelsea player is fouled, that’s a straight penalty regardless of the position. . 5. They will be allowed to make 13 substitutions. . 6. They will be awarded 6 points for every match won, 4 points for adraw n 2 points if they lose. . 7. They will beallowed to field 2 or 3goal keepers at the same time. . 8. Any attempt to tackle or mark Hazard will result to a penalty. . 9. Finally Jose Mou will be allowed to instruct the players inside the pitch as the match is ongoing

  8. Mr. Writer, the mistake that put Gomes one on one with the keeper was by Koscielny not Per. Kos was way deep in our own half when we were pressing high, while Per was on the half way line. If Kos was level with Per Gomes would have been offside. On a different note, Bellerin’s tackle to prevent Gomes from shooting was the game changer for me. If we had gone behind at that point, we would have lost the game, so for me Bellerin was MOM.

    1. Think on this logic the ref should be for not giving the blatant pen for merts handball … The reason for the Jekyll to Hyde transformation in second half was ozil … It’s what world class players can do …. So motm without a doubt … Campbell was more than adequate on the right … But Sanchez well below par … Overrated at 7.5 … bit of a worry

  9. Campbell as motm is correct choice as it was his first start and he was under pressure to perform and he did very well
    Ozil and Bellerin were exceptional
    Alexis missed too many passes

  10. Watched a re-run of the game at midnight South African time, and I don’t know what the fuss was about from Gary Monk that Arsenal were gifted victory. We also had chances in the first half, and seemed to be only sizing up our opponents for the killer punches to be delivered later. As much Swansea attacked, our defence was resolute, stood firm and they that’s their job, and it’s not like Swansea overran Arsenal in the first half.
Ozil has been consistently brilliant, and not just yesterday. One off day and I can imagine how his critics will get on his back again. Ozil and Cech are the main reasons why Mourinho is so jealous of Wenger this year. Mourinho, wished he had every Arsenal player in his squad after
Chelsea’s Mike Dean inspired victory. We can all see why now…. Runflat Yokohomas are not gripping well all over England and they jealous of the GOODYEAR ARSENAL are having with runspeed.

  11. The players that secured us the 3 points yesterday were bellerin, cech, ozil, giroud
So the MOTM must be one from them even that campell had great debut game

    OT
I’m sad to say that but this Schezny will never reach the level of cech and worldclass keepers, watch the goal against inter yesterday i don’t think peter will let this one in

  12. I think Ozill was man of the match. A S needs to be rested ASAP. Again this was a game we needed to win and did. Do all our players need to go on international duty? I’m not sure but the team could do with a few days in the sun all together. Great game gunners
