Arsenal player ratings from CSKA win – Ramsey MOTM

While a lot of Arsenal fans and most of the football pundits who saw the Gunners produced a dominant display and a 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow will award their Man of the Match to Mesut Ozil for a brilliant display, I am giving it to Aaron Ramsey who also had a great game. The main reason is that second wonder goal from the Welshman which capped his all-round game.

Cech 7 – Apart from the free kick which two keepers would have struggled with the veteran keeper was in control.

Bellerin 7 – Not always convincing in defence but played well and produced perfect ball for Ramsey opener.

Mustafi 6 – Horrible decision to pass centrally in run up to equaliser and a few scary moments. Not convincing.

Koscielny 7 – Bad decision for their free kick goal but strong and stable apart from that.

Monreal 7.5 – Very good from the consistently reliable Spaniard. Perhaps unlucky not to score himself.

Xhaka 7 – Apart from wild shank before Golovin goal the Swiss had a strong game in middle with great passing.

Wilshere 7 – Made some mistakes later on and looked a bit jaded. Generally good though if not spectacular.

Ramsey 9 MOTM – What a goal!! Involved and a threat throughout. Back to his best maybe?

Ozil 9 – Ran the game. Sublime skills, Keep it up Mesut and we could win this thing!

Mkhitaryan 8 – Looked sharp and unlucky not to score. Hopefully injury is a minor one.

Lacazette 8 – Sometimes frustrated but he’s a proper finisher and getting match sharper.

subs:
Iwobi 6 – Should have shot rather than pass but decent from the bench.

Elneny 6 – Steadied ship and played well.

Welbeck – Looked sharp. Keeper very lucky to deny him a goal.

Bob.

    1. 100% I agree with you. He ran the whole CSKA team raggered. Pulling different stunts!!!! What a performance. The whole attacking team rested on his skills

  1. Ramsey was inches away and one bad call away from scoring four goals. That as well as his CM duties, which he stayed on top of, gives him the MOM. Ozil got a second assist thanks to Ramsey’s instinctively sublime finish. He got two assists thank’s to Ramsey. Lacazette needs some praise, he has a killer instinct in him. People in here don’t realize how helpful Ramsey is to players like Lacazette and Ozil, he’s a constant bother for defenders which comes in handy for a play-maker and a striker. Talk about no talk …all action.

    1. I think Ozil had 3 asists including that penalty, plus he created the other chance by setting bellerin through to cross, he set micki free one on one with the keeper, he attempted to score by himself too after reading xhaka’s mind so well, what else do you need from an attacking midfielder??
Ozil is 9.5 if it is up to me.
Rambo had an excellent game YES, but for me Ozil got it.

  2. These defence marks by Bob are way too high. The whole defence waas awful, as is now customary. Agree that Ozil was narrowly MotM, from Ramsey and attacking players , Welbeck and Iwioi apart were all terrific. But despite the way overhyped optimism from many on here, I would remind you that a team with a disastrous defence like a colander can never win this competition. No doubt, many on here will now shoot the messanger, me, instead of the rightful culprit, the (soon to be axed, mercifully) manager.

    1. Ramsey 9
      Ozil 9.5 and MOTM

Wilshere was terrible and doesn’t deserve more than 6, and I’m a fan of his.

  3. wilshere should be sold and that is not been sentimental but reasonable…. he ain’t nothing special at least not anymore

    1. I thought Wilshere had a bad game. He and Rambo were going forward, Rambo proved himself right to get involved also he gets back quickly enough and makes good interceptions. With that in mind I thought Wilshere would be a little more mature by not fully joining in with the attack. It left Xhaka a lonely figure and it looked very dangerous when Xhaka too got caught up in the moment. Wilshere doesn’t need to reach the D if we have Ramsey Monreal Bellerin Ozil Mkhit Lacazette all looking for a chink in the armor, he would have been right to stay near Xhaka but also in an area that he can be an outlet and switch the play if needed. He also gave the ball away in dangerous areas as well as no pressure being applied at the time. It was the poorest I’ve seen Wilshere play since he made his way back into the first team.
