Arsenal player ratings from Everton – Alexis MOTM

Many Arsenal fans and football pundits would make the German international star Mesut Ozil their Man of the Match from the thumping away win over Everton, and he was in fine form. A great goal and an assist capped a great display from Ozil that really helped Arsenal to flow, but I still feel the contribution of Alexis Sanchez was better and more important and he also bagged an assist and a brilliant solo strike.

Cech 6 – Not a great day. Got away with an early error before late mix up with Monreal cost us a goal.

Koscielny 8 – A beast. Makes our defence so much better with him in it. Also came forward well.

Mertesacker 7 – Could have done more on Rooney goal but good after that.

Monreal 8 – Good game capped by well taken goal which was badly needed at the time.

Bellerin 6 – Decent but not quite happening for him right now.

Xhaka 6 – Another mistake could have been costly but good passing and shooting afterwards.

Ramsey 8 – Great game from Rambo. Involved in most attacks and well deserved goal.

Kolasinac 7 – Solid game from the Bosnian tank. No mistakes but nothing spectacular either.

Ozil 8.5 – When he plays like that it is a joy to watch. Silky skills and impact on game.

Alexis 9 – Almost unplayable and more importantly showed he is up for it.

Lacazette 8 – Nice movement, great finish and unlucky not to score more. Works hard for the team too.

subs:
Wilshere 7 – Impressive cameo, vital EPL minutes and great assist for Ramsey.

Coquelin 6 – Tidy and solid in his short time.

  1. Impressive bounce back from the Gooners. Even if they hadn’t gone down to 10 – we were looking good, passing was slick

But on the negative side – have to say 2 HUGE goalkeeping errors – cost us 1 goal. Could easily have been 2. Very very very unlike Cech

    1. Yes Simon, But how frustrating to play so sublimely, Cech’s two slips ups in possession apart, but to stink the place out so timidly at Watford last week. Clearly we have huge, even title winning talent at our club, BUT are too uncommitted to use it EVERY WEEK , as we have to, to seriously challenge for the title. So sadly, we won’t . Once again!

  2. I think Ozil & Sanchez were both brilliant. We were superb & could have scored a few more at least! I’m looking forward to the Swansea game! But also hope we win tomorrow.
    Up the gunners!

  3. Totally agree with the ratings. Hopefully Sanchez stays in the next season, because it would be difficult to find a very creative player that can assist, do playmaking stuffs and scores a lot of goals like him.

  4. Good win for Arsenal, but
No furthur verdict on any players until City away match on Nov 5.
All ratings are hollow until they win some dirty job.
    looking forward…

  5. Totally agree. For me, the first real doubts about Cech’s short term future occurred yesterday. I thought we were watching a Szczesny reicarnation at his most reckless. We must not let the relative unimportance (in the game context) of his slip ups be ignored. On Xhaka, I am perhaps the least impressed Gooner. I simply don’t rate him , esp in our Prem league with its physicality and speed. He seems slow witted, slow moving , in fact one paced, careless and just not good enough. He just doesn’t see danger and regularly too. I WANT HIM SOLD and a better REAL defensive central midfielder, who CAN DEFEND , installed in his place.

  6. Its so annoying when you know Arsenal can play that good specially Ozil but only do so rarely,

it was nice to see our first eleven on the pitch together for once i was surprised they recognized each other 🙂

  7. It’s clear that you have a hard on for Sanchez, Bob. Was he good yesterday? Sure. Was he better than Ozil though? The answer is resounding NO.

  8. When you do not need to defend and chase the ball like a dog, just focus to attack, you got the real oziel

  9. I wonder what ozil has to do to get a MOTM.

And Points has to be deducted for that late goal mistake made by monreal and cech.

  10. OT: Those clamoring for Ronald Koeman for Arsenal Manager’s job now finally have their way. Congrats guy……(first remember to compare results of AW’s achievements in the last 4 seasons to Koman, Pochitino, etc……big investments every season – zero trophies). Learn to appreciate what you have even if you want a bit more….

    1. The important thing in this match was having Sanchez, Lacazette and Ozil playing together. The intelligent running of Lacazette and Sanchez into the channels gave passing options for Ozil and made it difficult for the Everton defence to track. Ramsey, Bellerin, Kolasinac and Monreal also made good runs off the ball. It is unfortunate that Bellerin appears too ofyen to take the wrong option to shoot from wide angle rather than squaring into the box to unmarked players; this has cost Arsenal a number of scoring opportunities in recent games. It was great to see Ozil coming from deep again to score from Sanchez”s sublime cross.
