Arsenal player ratings from West Brom – Alexis MOTM

It feels like I may as well just give Alexis Sanchez the Arsenal Man of the Match award for all of the Arsenal games to come over the rest of the season, because even when he does not score or produce the match winning moment, the Chilean striker is almost always the best player on the pitch, as was the case again yesterday against West Brom.

Cech 6 – Not much to do but was lucky not to be punished by Yacob for losing a cross.

Bellerin 7 – Tried hard but usual attacking flair was stifled by the Baggies.

Gabriel 7 – Bit shaky to start but overall a solid game.

Koscielny 8.5 – 100 percent tackle success rate in another great game from the Boss.

Gibbs 7.5 – Looked good until injury. Fingers crossed it’s just minor.

Coquelin 7 – Strong and secure until sacrificed for more attacking threat.

Xhaka 7 – Passed with precision and controlled game well from centre.

Ozil 8 – Can look anonymous but had some great touches and set up seven shots and assist for goal was pure class.

Iwobi 7 – Some super skills but not enough final impact.

Giroud 7 Worked hard and took his big chance with aplomb.

Alexis 9 – Pocket dynamo was on a mission again. Nine attempts and unlucky not to score at least one of them.

subs:
Ramsey 7 – Good impact, looked sharp for a player just back.

Lucas Perez 7 – Unlucky not get assist for perfect ball across six yard box.

Monreal 6 Decent game after replacing Gibbs.

Bob.

  1. well, i see it different, though alexis motm i am agreeing, i think Coq was fantastic, thus not less than Gibbs, Xhaka needs to stop loosing momentum with those hideous 35 yard shots that fly 20 ft. over the cross bar, Iwobi non factor, and penalizing Cech who had a clean sheet for a goal that never happened? Olivier fought hard, his one moment of brilliance alone worth 7.5,

  2. Xhaka should continue taking those shots..who knows he might hit the back of the net on a cold champions league night when we need a goal.

  3. I’d really like to see Lucas start a PL match. It won’t be a huge risk and he may be the answer on the left. Alexis can either play up front or on right til Theo comes back. Or play Lucas up front and make Giroud more hungry for goals

  4. liverpool are by far the best team in the epl.
followed closely by chelsea then city tottenham.
We are on the same level as manu.
The only reason a gap exists between chelsea and liverpool is because they have had more difficult fixtures

  5. Liverpool don’t have a world class striker so why is there offence so formidable with no ozil are sanchez because their players do the basic control pass on shoot.on they have good winger.

  6. Is this not an Arsenal Web site. Why are people talking about that scouse scum? We can surmise all we like about players etc but it’s the management that needs to change at Arsenal.

  7. Can’t agree more for the MOTM. Sanchez is a real fighter.

Just a couple of things popped in my mind.

    Happy for Giroud.
Iwobi should be benched, and Lucaz should come in. He is better, a more threat.
Because WBA was parking a bus, I wished either Coquelin or Xhaka would run into the box more. We needed more players to breakthrough and score. In that respect, Ramsey did well. But, he should have scored. I think we have more room for improvement in the DMs combination among Coquelin, Xhaka, Elneny and Ramsey.
Despite the assist, I am still worried about Ozil.

    Anyway, good 3 points.
