Arsenal players need to start learning from Alexis

Players around Sanchez need to step it up by KM

There’s no need to tell you, who is Arsenal’s best player. Once again Alexis Sanchez produced a performance that everyone around him, should look and think about implementing for themselves. Forget the immense quality the guy has, it is the fighting spirit and determination that he demonstrates that is well worth every penny paid to see him at the Emirates. For the money an Arsenal fan has to pay, we need to see more players like him.

I don’t think that desire and determination is only taught on the streets of south America though. He was schooled in Barcelona under some of the best coaches in the world. At Barcelona if you don’t fight for every ball, you’ll never see first team football. That is something players at Arsenal need to be taught. He may not be the tallest man, but he still wanted it more than some 6ft 4′ Burnley defenders and that tells you all there is really to know.

Money may or may not buy happiness, but they do buy quality. 32 million pounds look like peanuts for Sanchez. But if we want to keep him in the squad, we need the players around to step it up. I don’t think he’ll be too happy if every game the whole team is weighing on his shoulders to produce magic once again. I don’t like the one man team quotes, but we are over-reliant on him at the moment. Players play for trophies these days, not for pride and football clubs.

Barcelona thought Suarez is better than Sanchez and they moved him on but if we don’t provide him the platform for success he may not be with us for too long. One of AFC biggest issues over the last 10 years has been we’re too reliant on one player. Fabregas was pivotal for Arsenal few years back, then it was Van Persie, last season Ramsey was the star man at Arsenal and our season went downhill with his absence and then back up when he came back.

My hopes lie with Walcott coming back. It was a huge relief to see him play again. His pace and improved finishing are really missing. Another man I’d welcome back is Giroud. Giroud will never be the quickest or deadliest striker like Aguero, but he does bring presence in the box, which we’ve missed, some strength and good heading abilities.

At the moment we struggle in midfield where Wengers all so hailed philosophy for attractive football lies. It’s in decline the same way as our manager. We have no DM and we’re missing the Ramsey of last season, who really made the transition from defense to attack work and his presence in the box allowed him to score more goals than he did before being stuck as a CM.

Anderlecht is a game where we should see Rosicky and Podolski. They had an awful Carling Cup game vs Southampton but even though the Belgians are a CL side, they are not something our squad players shouldn’t be able to dominate at home. We finally won some games in a row and our next two opponents provide a platform for improving on our results.

  1. I don’t expect the same quality but I expect the same work rate and passion as Sanchez.

Sanchez works his butt of out there. I don’t know if it’s a South America thing but it’s great to have someone who not only is World Class but works hard and has passion. Please Mr Wenger keep him happy

BTW- heard that Walcott is in contract negotiations. Please Mr Wenger don’t be stingy, he is worth more than £90,000 . If i remember correctly his last full season he scored over 20 goals.

    1. @Fred Cowardly, that’s true. I believe Walcot can have almost the same impact as Sanchez if he puts in the effort. At least, Theo should earn 100k.

Players that want their wages increased should put in the necessary hardwork. When your boss and everyone sees how hard you work, they can’t grumble when u ask for increment.

    2. I particularly loved this part ”He may
      not be the tallest man,
      but he still wanted it
      more than some 6ft 4′
      Burnley defenders.”

    3. its not South American, remember Denilson? Baptista? (and depending on what is considered South America, I am from anama so I am allowed to joke about this since i know exactly what it means haha=) remember Vela?
Although to be fair we ve never had any big SA core, so maybe its time 🙂

  2. You couldn’t have spoken a greater truth when you said our players should fight for their places not just get gifted places like Wack Wiltshire and Arteta.
Some of the performances put in by the team have been inexcusable and now with a real player they are highlighted for what they are, lazy or not good enough.
These players simply aren’t good enough for Arsenal.
We should have a world class starting 11, no less.
Monreal, Arteta, Flamin, Wack, Per are all not good enough, squad players at best but they shouldn’t be lining up against the best.
Has anyone seen our record vs top 4 teams over the last 5 yrs?
    It is a complete joke.

    1. What you have said is unfriendly, and may not be well received, but it is entirely accurate. For too long Arsenal has had to continue to keep underperforming players in the side because we could not afford to bring true expensive quality. As a result our results against the top 4 have been shambolic, and the top 6 haven’t consistently been what they could/should. We are now to a point that if we’re going to take the next step in world football as it is today, then we have to stop playing players out of position to force in certain players; and we have to bring in more true class.
We’re getting a small taste of what that quality can do, and it’s making some people uncomfortable to discuss and potentially admit that others may not be up to snuff.
As an Arsenal supporter though, my hope is that the current players we have can raise their game, stay healthy, and le prof can play them in their proper positions (or at all….Campbell)

  3. Walcott will definitely sign. I mean, he was basically waxing lyrical about how he and Alexis will combine to terrorize the EPL. I don’t think he’ll want to miss the opportunity 😉

  4. I think we have finally found our main man. I remember allllllllll of you lot saying and comparing our rivals star players city-aguaro, Chelsea-hazard (liva -suarez past tense) United-RVP then we came to us-giroud. BUT finally we have that one player-Alexis, which is possibly better than the latter mentioned. What a gem.

I still think some players in our squad is intimidated by sanchezs sheer quality, but I think with the return of walcot and hopefully ramsey to form, everyone will come outa their shells. Cazorla might surprise us soon, just a goal needed and ya’ll be singing “‘öOooOoh sAnti CaZOLLLa”.

I really feel for Campbell, I feel he can be our secret weapons if some of our guys are struggling, mabey he mezmerised wilshere and ramsey in training, and now wenger is angry :/ lol okk okk.

if we top 3 by new year, we deff have a shout in for the title.

im talking to much, soooooo welbeck score tonight so that you can lift up your head abit.

Hope its something like 5-0, I think our team needs a win like that at the moment, to fully get going.

  6. I guess our defensive players need more strengthening their game. Our attacking side is very good at the moment. Chamberlain gave a very good performance against Burnley, as well as for Santi Cazorla, apart from his finishing he is also having good games, Danny Welbeck and Sanchez are working their socks off, while Podolski and Walcott have yet to showcase their performances. Also Chambers and Gibbs are also having good games as fullbacks. I think some of our defense needs to strenghten up a little bit, but it will take time as with Debuchy and Koscielny out with injuries, I think Mertesacker and Monreal will take some time to up their game.

  7. I honestly feel that the players will look at themselves and realise that they are simply not working hard enough. I think the “Sanchez-effect” will change the way Arsenal play. We never used to press in defence as a team, but players will naturally start doing this from watching Sanchez. Problem is, I hope that the players will get back (like Sanchez does!) from pressing so high if need be… I doubt it with some of our players…

  8. Konstatin Mitov, I totally agree with you. Imagine a Gunner was reported to have told Sanchez to chill it out in training. This singular statement underline the lack of the required extra commitment by some Gunners that could make them to be winning any game they will play. If the boss had played Sanchez in our home game with Spurs, I am positive we would have collected the maximum points from that match. This is a big challenge for every Gunner to step it up in training and games. So that Arsenal will re-enter the promised land of the Barclays Premier League title and also enters the Uefa CL land for the first time in their history. They can still retain the FA cup too. I am believing Arsenal to win the treble this season. If the Gunners believe this, let them claim the treble by stepping it up.

  9. As a club AFC have waited for a dead ball specialist for so long. Join me to welcome Crowley!!! He should move up to the U21 soon.

  10. I particularly loved this part ”He may
    not be the tallest man,
    but he still wanted it
    more than some 6ft 4′
    Burnley defenders.”

  11. on the alternative, Wenger can do us and himself a favour by substituting those who are not willing 2 perform on the pitch even before a ball is kicked……. Or is he waiting for the 80th minute 2 do that?

  12. according to the daily mail
“Liverpool bid £3m MORE for Sanchez than Arsenal… but Barcelona accepted less cash after Chile star begged for move to London ”
    W..o..w…
if thats true i have a new idol…….(nooo, not wenger you silly…ALEXIS!!!!!)

  13. Off topic,
Liverpool tabled an offer of £36M for Alexis Sanchez. Sport.es claim he asked Barcelona to accept the lesser bid of £32M from Arsenal.”

  14. Excellent article that demonstrates how much value a committed individual can add to a team. If the rest can step up one or two gears, match Sanchez’s determination and fighting spirit, and take individual responsibility instead of appearing mesmerised by his contribution. this Arsenal team will be a joy to watch.

  15. Just a thought if Barcelona had said £36 mil do you think wenger would have gone higher?. And can you imagine not getting Sanchez for a extra 4 mil 🙁

    1. On the contrary, The fee was 32 mill and Liverpool only put in a 36mill bid when they realised they were losing sanchez. The main fact is Arsene met what Barca wanted because we now have the money and he was wise enough to know he was getting a bargain. I know Wenger has his faults but not cool to try and add imaginary faults.
