Arsenal big transfer bid ready, Xhaka is ready, Why wait?

It is being reported that, even though Arsenal are ready to fork out the hefty transfer fee demanded by this transfer target’s club, and that the player himself and representatives from Borussia Monchengladbach are making the right noises about accepting the offer of a move to the Premier League, the deal to make Granit Xhaka a Gunner is not going to happen until the summer.

I don’t get it. Have we not been hearing about how the midfield injury crisis has been hurting Arsenal and our chances of winning major trophy honours this season? And are we not still waiting for key midfield stars Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla to come back?

With the Daily Star reporting that Arsene Wenger is willing to splash out the £37 million needed to get this talented young star, the sporting director of Xhaka’s current club has all but admitted that they would sell, as they are not on the same financial level as the biggest clubs in the German Bundesliga.

Max Eberl said, “We have lost players like Reus and ter Stegen, Kruse and Kramer.

“In the summer perhaps Granit Xhaka will go.

“We need a good mix between buying and selling to take the next step.

“After four successful years, we are not yet on a par with Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Schalke and Wolfsburg.”

Surely if they are willing to sell in the summer we can persuade them to sell now. Our need is great while they could use that money to bring in a few good players to strengthen their own campaign. And with Xhaka already talking about Francis Coquelin’s 34 being the shirt number he would like at Arsenal, whether it was in jest or not, you get the idea that he would jump at the chance to join Arsenal.

So what are we waiting for?

    1. @Twig
He would interfere with Le Coqs, Aaron, and Jacks development. Elneny is not just a holding mid. He and Granit are versatile .

  1. The only player in history who has publicly said he’ll want to come and play for Arsenal and eventually did is…wait for it…SANOGO.

      1. on whether it will be a busy transfer window…

Yes, you will certainly have some work to do over the next 10 days, not especially with Arsenal, but with many other clubs.

on whether he will do any more business…

We are always open to the exceptional occasion of course because it can be a long-term exceptional opportunity that we would take. But at the moment I expect our last 10 days to be quiet.

  2. Pretty sure that 37 million is an amount stated in euros.

Also, would be a great replacement for Flamini coming summer, would prefer to sign him now.

  3. what happen to our youth if we only buy reserve player for solutions with end sold to barcelona. are we just produce player for mid table club.

  4. Arsenal fc are officially on that Gravy train now,
We are only slightly behind Utd & City in the Money League!
And this time next year we will probably be above them, purely because of the Money they spend… which, we don’t!

In the last couple of years, We have had a big influx of young players coming in and that is where the real money will be made by the club, when they start selling them on to the European Giants, in the near future.

If any fan is expecting Arsenal to sign aother senior player,
    Before this window shuts… ?? Hahaha, well…
You better get used to feeling disappointed mate!
There’s plenty of more gloom on its way!

Top four is all that is required from the Arsenal board,
Champions league expectations have already been achieved!
And any domestic Cup is a bonus!

    Whats new?
This season is the worst for genuine injury updates!
Especially during the transfer windows, False flags, to prevent extra pressure on making signings from the fans.

And the latest is that, Wenger may not risk Sanchez against Chelsea. .. ?????
That will probably be followed by his had another danny setbeck… AND his OUT for another two months!

  5. If this does happen it wont be until the summer and the money is €37m, not sure how much that is in ££ but is close to £30m. He wants Coquelins No34 no problem its his on a gold plate as Le Coq can take no8 from Arteta so its all good. Xhaka will replace Arteta, Elneny will replace Flamini, Sanchez can take Rosickys no7 when he goes and Wilshere can give Ozil the No10 as he never plays… Wilshere can take 12 as Giroud moves to 11.

Since numbers mean so much to players!

Oh and no9 still there but that will be for the forward bought in the summer im hoping!

Xhaka, Elneny, Coquelin, Ramsey, Wilshere, Santi

    1. But then there is William Carvalho for the same amount of money in the summer! Choices for wenger to replace the trio!

  6. other than those two super eaglets after el neny, we are signing no one else unless something extraordinary happens to wenger. We can kiss goodbye this jan transfer period already.
