Arsenal really have no choice now but to concentrate on the Europa League

After Arsenal lost to Man City twice in the space of four days, ArseneWwenger was still adamant that the Gunners had to carry on trying to reach the Champions League via finishing in the Top Four. The Boss said: “We have to prioritise the next game first before we talk about the Europa League,” he said on Arsenal.com when asked where our priorities lie now for the season ahead. “We will of course take the Europa League very seriously but we have as well to win big games because if you want to go far in the Europa league, you have to win big games as well.

“If you look at the opponents who are in the Europa League, there are big teams in there.”

But after our defeat to Brighton last week, and Chelsea’s win over Palace today, we are now 11 points behind Conte’s side who are only in fifth, and Spurs are 2 points ahead of them in the coveted Fourth Place.

In the League now we can only hope to hold on to our 6th place and must concentrate all our resources on winning the Europa League to get into the Champions League by the back door.

Man United did it last year, so we can only aim to emulate Jose Mourinho’s Man United team or simply give up on any consolation from this season…..

  1. The only hardcore team in EL is Athletico Madrid. If we manage to avoid them til the Final,we have a chance. In the last game everything is possible, all or nothing, winner takes all in a single game.

  2. The challenge for Mr wenger is to take euro cup this term and then for the premier league title and than finish it off with the champions cup (***)

  3. Congratulations on your early nomination for the 2018 “Stating the bloody obvious” Award.

  4. My utd did it last year, I hate this comparison my deluded friend this a competition where Even the draws matters.Man utd played a weak opponent at the final.Atletico we wil win the Europa league they are the Bette team and that what logic dictates

  5. As we pray to avoid Atletico Madrid before finals, we should also pray for Dortmund’s failure to overturn Salzburg first leg defeat. Otherwise, BVB can screw us well too… I hate this Wenger theorem of ‘let team X beat for us team Y…’ Arsenal is a big club to be in such praying drama..

    Wenger out
