Arsenal rumour round-up – Lacazette, Allegri, Sessegnon and Kolasinac

So as we near the end of the season, all the papers now seem sure that Wenger is staying and is currently organizing the usual Arsenal transfer rumours as usual, except for the one concerning his replacement! SunSport insist that Arsenal “have been in touch with Allegri’s camp in the last seven days to discuss the possibility of the Italian succeeding Wenger.” Allegri is definitely the most-touted replacement for Wenger, even though he is under contract at Juventus for one more year, and with talks ongoing now about extending that right now….

Other than that, the Metro is convinced that “Arsenal are confident of tying up a deal for Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac as Arsene Wenger draws up plans to continue with the club until 2019.” Kolasinac can play at left-back, centre-back and in defensive midfield which would make him the perfect signing for Wenger, especially as Debuchy will definitely leave and maybe Gibbs as well. The only problem is that the Bosnian international is a free agent this summer and there will be fierce competition for his signature…

As for Lacazette, who apparently was the subject of a 30m bid from Arsenal last summer which was refused, is now Arsenal’s top striking target. But the Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has been quoted as saying: “We have rejected offers worth around €40m. I am hearing talk about €100m for a Griezmann transfer to Real Madrid.” I am guessing that means that he thinks Lacazette should be worth the same amount. Who thinks he is?

Not so good news on the new star of the Championship, Ryan Sessegnon. It is being reported that the 16 year-old, who has scored 6 goals for Fulham this season despite his tender age, has decided to remain at the Cottagers for the time being after turning down offers from us, Man City and Chelsea. I wish we had some 16 year-olds like that!

Mind you I’d be happy if we got Kolasinac, Lacazette and Allegri!

  1. all 16 yrs old r linked to us. allegri wont us bcos wenger is not ready to sacrifice his million pounds job.and no one has the gut to sack him

  2. I like the look of Kolasinac. He’s built like a defender should be built, I always prefer teams when their fullback’s have a bit of a CB look about them. We do look a little lightweight physically speaking even in the defensive areas. Sagna I liked allot because he could hold his own against a big striker or a CB. Lauren was a great physical specimen, not on the heavy side though more athletic but he was a good height and strong enough.

Allegri and Simeone. When speaking about these two I think people should keep in mind the boardroom, transfer and the coaching set up at Juventus and Atletico. Those clubs have everything just right for the manager to concentrate solely on the first team. I’d also be very surprised if even half the player signings at those clubs were unearthed by the managers.

Lacazette, I do believe he’ll go for over 50m euros, maybe close to the 60.

  3. who cares about transfer rumours anymore. if the grinch stays on then we are doomed even further. no players, in their right minds , will come to the arsenal now . these are intellegent people and they can see what is happening at the emirates. only players looking to make a quick buck will bother coming to us , and goodness knows, we have had enough of mercaneries during wengers reign .if you told me now that messi was coming it would not make a blind bit of difference to me . oh wait, messi to arsenal will never happen , because the genius that is arsene wenger has stared recently that wenger is in decline. so thats that i guess.

    1. sorry, meant to type that messi is in decline, sure we all know that wenger is at the top of his game , i am a silly old oaf.

  4. Why anyone expects a change at Arsenal is beyond me. It’s often said that the answer to any good question is money. So if asked, how did Arsenal get to be where they are right now, I’d say it’s because the club’s model is making the owners and shareholders boatloads of money. There’s no reason for them to change anything that they’re doing because at present they aren’t losing any commas in their bank accounts. Until Arsenal becomes a laughing stock, completely out of Europe, completely out of contention for the top 4, finally financially impacting those that make decisions, Arsenal is going to continue down this path.

True worldly talent is not coming in, and if it does, it won’t be followed by more players of that ilk, and thus they’ll get frustrated and leave. We may be a big club, but we are a second tier club now that can only bring in the players that are deemed surplus to requirements by the big boys — Mesut, Alexis — or the young players that might turn out to be world class, but aren’t quite ready for a move to Barca/Bayern/Real/Juve(?)

Say an influx of talent does come in (3 or 4 players), it will only it will only be to replace 3 or 4 players of that level that just left, not to play alongside it.
Even if we did ever amass 11 truly world class players, Arsene at the helm would find a way to put them in the wrong positions, or set them up tactically incorrect, or would find a way to insert Ramsey/Jack/Gibbs/Giroud/Theo/The Ox when none of them have proven that they have what it takes to perform at that level.

  5. Dybala signed 5 year contract

Im watching United match because I want to get used to watching football on Thursdays 🙁

  6. There’s currently only one bit of news I’m checking for frequently and hoping for and that’s Wenger to announce his not renewing.
I suspect as he has announced yet he will renew when that happens, well I just don’t know what to say or think.
I love my Arsenal but under Wenger I can’t watch another year or maybe two of lack-lustre, weak and unimaginative performances under a manager who has no clue now what he’s doing.
The games moved on from. # deluded.

  8. @arsenalgirl.
    You are not wrong 🙂
I flipped over I can’t stick mu and the commentators blowing smoke up their a*Se too much for my liking. Watching ajax v schalke not a bad game but what a gulf in class between last night’s cl games too tonight’s matches.
From what I’ve seen though this is our level no shadow of a doubt,(apart from Sanchez and kos).

  9. @th14atl.
I know what your saying but gazidis and crew know that this is normally the time we come strong and get a second wind not continue to decline.
I don’t believe that behind closed doors the board aren’t having some very worried discussions and they must believe it’s squeaky bumper time even if we do have contingency money.
I’d love nothing more than gazidis to grow some and make the difficult decision a chairman should make if Wenger won’t.
“Arsene times up resign and it looks like your choice or be sacked”, go on Ivan!!
Anyway it’s not just finishing position it’s prepping for the window, closed season and giving the new manager a few games to see what dross, sorry I mean players he’s got to work with.
