Arsenal rumour round-up – Manolas & Lateef targeted, Morata & Xhaka latest, Cazorla fee?

This summer could, and should, be a bust one for Arsenal, so we thought we’d keep you up-to-date on all the latest speculation surrounding our club.

Santi Cazorla is said to be available for £10 Million, having struggled with injuries this season, and could follow fellow experienced midfielders Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta out of the door. That will lead to a number of midfield replacements, which could excite the frustrated Gunners fans.

Granit Xhaka has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium this summer, but the papers have done a full round of speculation, moving quickly from heavily scouting, to deal agreed, to deal scuppered, and that is the latest. Depending where you source your reports, the deal could be falling through because Xhaka is keen to wait for a move to Bayern Munich, or the deal could fall through due to his release clause. I’ll let you be the judge on why this one has not and will not happen…

Another heavily linked target Alvaro Morata is now said to be keen to stay with his current club, but that is not coming from the player, but from the Juve club director, who would be keen to avoid any interest in his star. I’m not saying he does want to leave, but I certainly hope we magically make this happen.

Manolas is believed to be lined up to rival Gabriel and Per Mertesacker for a CB role next term, with the pair failing to satisfactorily form a impenetrable partnership with Koscielny this season. The Roma.

One future star we are being linked with is 12 year-old Lateef Omidji Junior. The Dordrecht youth star is being scouted by a number of top clubs, and currently in the midst of a battle between the USA and Nigeria over who he should pledge his international allegiance to. He has been likened to Luis Suarez, but time will tell whether he can reach any sort of level near the hungry goalscorer.

  1. I think the exits of Flim-Flam, Arteta and Rosicky should be more than enough midfield exits for one window… A couple of hundred k off the wage bill should be more than enough to bring in one or two fresher, younger midfielders.
But if Arsenal let Santi go next window… I just.. Furious will be an understatement!

    1. Wolfsburg are said to be interested in Giroud that’s a transfer that must happen and any offer they make must be accepted so we can get his 130K wages for just 12 goals a season off the bill

      1. Giroud has been the weakest player for me this season. In the games where we have conceded late he has so many chances to finish them off but can only score tap ins.

        Really hope he goes.

  2. Wear your seat belt, get some paracetamol and enjoy the ride.
The only thing that is going to change is the price of your seasons ticket.

  3. Rumours at this time of the year is not uncommon specially in Arsenal case! We have a lot of cash reserve, clearly need upgrades at certain position of the field, have a beautiful stadium & in a attractive city!!
With the players logically on there way out in Flamini, Arteta, Rosicky & Debuchy there is prime opportunity to had to the engine room a player close to or in his prime, who is a leader & considered close to be being among the top at his positions. Throw in also a possible striker moving out than there is room to work with & money to spend in a smart way on the right players!
Who they go for & how much they spend will be once again all on Wenger’s shoulders and hopefully he decide to dig deep on great/proven (world)class the same way he did it when he got Özil & than Sanchez the year after that…we won back to back FA cup it’s not the EPL or UCL but it shows that spending big on smart signing uplifts the club! We were up there in the league but collapsed each time!

  4. Hull city are interested in taking AW on a season long loan..,haha haha, these rumours.!

  5. Another article aimed at falsely raising the hopes of the fans for next season. We have seen this tactic played out over and over again for many years now. So it’s only expected at this time of the year!
