Arsenal set for record 5th defeat in a row on Thursday in Milan

Arsene Wenger is very rightly a legend at Arsenal after creating an all-time record by going a whole season undefeated with the Invincibles, but that was a very long time ago now, but this season he is creating more and more unwanted records, like being knocked out at the first hurdle of the FA Cup to a Championship side, and losing at home to a tiny Swedish side, and the latest run of four defeats in a row is about to get worse – as we travel to the San Siro on Thursday to face an AC Milan side that is in awesome form in Italy. ***These records are relating to Arsene Wenger’s reign at Arsenal*** The last time Arsenal lost five in a row was in 1977…

Gennaro Gattuso’s Milan side team are unbeaten since Christmas in a run of twelve games, and have won their last five without conceding a goal, the last victory being a 2-0 win away at third-placed Roma. Here is their last ten games in all competitions…

I know you don’t need reminding you of Arsenal’s recent record so I won’t give you the bare results right now, although I will just say that in the 14 games that the Gunners have played since Xmas, they have only won four of them and the only one away from home was at Ostersunds.

It is certainly obvious to all that the chances of Arsenal winning in Italy, or even getting a draw, is extremely slim, and if Milan beat us by a large margin it will mean our last chance of a trophy will have disappeared into the horizon.

Will that be the final nail in Wenger’s coffin?

  1. I honestly don’t know what else has to happen before Wenger is sacked. Losing that game is surely in the right direction. Sad we fans pray for our team to lose just so we could get a change.

    1. Even without a prayer, we are losing it. Just hard to take when the cause of the failure will keep sitting on that respectable chair doing nothing and making new excuses everyday

    2. What a load of bull****, and you guys call yourselfs fans? No other club fans wish thier club bad.Tomorrow or next year you’ll will wish for relegation, pathetic fan base. The good news read yesterday was that Arsene is staying for a year! Was a bit concerned about all the negativity, because Everton are interested in him, and mind you without interference and a good backing by the owner, he will get Everton in the top 4 and codemn us to no European football and that would be the final nail in our coffin, cause with the punks provided to him, he or any other manager cannot grind out results

  2. unless the question of how ozil got that insane £50million contract is looked into there will be nothing but discord at arsenal

  3. There used to be a time not so long ago I would have been excited about the prospects of this game against Milan.

Now to be honest I really don’t care because I don’t think the outcome matters.

Usually, with expectations so low, this is the time Arsenal start winning again, so a good result is not unlike Arsenal. However, it is also like Wenger’s teams to manage a good result in Milan only to throw it all away in London.

My excitement will possibly return once there is a future to look forward to. A future with at least a promise of new experience rather than repetition of the past like it has been for the last 10+ years. Only a new manager can give us a new future.

  4. Hey, why so pessimistic? We haven’t even seen Arsenal’s latest training session yet

Gattuso likes to use 4-3-3 that would easily be countered by Wenger’s 3-4-2-1, with Welbeck’s, Bellerin’s and Kolasinac’s pace:

    ………………..Ospina
    ….Chambers . Mustafi . Koscielny
    Bellerin . Ramsey . Xhaka . Kolasinac
    ……………Ozil …. Mkhitaryan
    ……………….Welbeck

Unless Le Prof suddenly wants to use his beloved and erratic 4-2-3-1. 4-4-1-1 ala Leicester City would be good as well, as long as they play direct like Ranieri:

    ……………….Ospina
    Bellerin . Koscielny . Mustafi . Kolasinac
    Mkhitaryan . Ramsey . Xhaka . Niles
    …………………Ozil
    ………………Welbeck

    1. Whose pace? You think Bellerin has pace? It’s 2018 mate, the guy used to have pace and could dribble well and crosses, but now he has none of thase and talks more on Twitter

    2. Honestly, i do not in any way want our team to lose games because of Wenger maybe because i dont really believe he will be sacked and that is why i want us to win today.

Having said that, apart from our woeful form and wounded confidence, the team we currently have does not really fill one with confidence as a fan. it was always going to be a tough match even if we have all our players available. Now we have Welbeck to lead the line, its such a pity.

Arsenal movie has been going on since Wenger’s contract issue, then to Sanchez and Ozil, Ox, and it is now back to Wenger, cant wait for all these to end and i hope it ends with Wenger’s departure.

    3. You can dream up as many different formations as you like but with Welbeck as our striker ? ? ? Hopefully Nketiah will replace him at some stage so we have a chance of scoring.

  5. I can’t remember the last time I thought we’ll definitely win this game! I can’t see us winning on Thursday, especially with Iwobi in the team….
I guess this mess will get worse before it gets better, if that’s possible!

  6. I would never wish for Arsenal to lose a football match. I feel very sorry for the hard core supporters who have spent their own good money to travel away to Milan. I hope the players put on a good display for them, regardless of the manager.

  7. the big problem is now we have hope in sacking wenger, but if we win two or three ( specially against milan big team)games, wenger will stay.

  8. Has any body else read a report on the Express website that bookmakers Paddy Power have paid out on bets that Arsene Wenger will be the next manager sacked?

  9. i have this fear in me tht after all this bad results the old man will still be standing ……..makes me wanna jus cheer for my club y’know

  10. ARSENAL NEEDS THIS WIN… WE DON’T HAVE THAT GREAT OF A SQUAD SO WE NEED TO PLAY WITH THE BEST WE HAVE, NO XHAKA! NO IWOBI! NO CHAMBERS! NO CECH!
    ……………………..OSPINA
    …..KOSCIELNY…MUSTAFI…HOLDING.
    BELLERIN…WILSHERE…RAMSEY…KOLASINAC
    …MHKITARYAN…NKETIAH…OZIL
    OR
    BELL…KOSC…MUST…KOLA
    ……………JACK
    NELS…OZIL…RAMS…MHKI
    …………NKETIAH
IT’S A SHAME THAT WELBECK HAS NOT REGAIN HIS EARLY FORM…

  11. Hoping for a win and hoping that our team can win the europa league and Wenger to go. Just go with peace Wenger
