Arsenal should give Santi Cazorla a new contract NOW!

Offer Cazorla a new contract now! By Sylvester Kwentua

Santi Cazorla Gonzalez, a world class attacking midfielder has been donning the white and red shirt of Arsenal F.C since 2012 and he has paid his dues! After Dennis Bergkamp left Arsenal, we had lacked a creative mindfielder who could dribble, pass, run and shoot the ball when necessary. Cazorla came and suddenly, we recovered the skill we needed from an attacking midfielder.

Cazorla, who has been down with injury since October last year was expected to come back from injury next month, but after an operation on his ankle, he is now expected to be out for the rest of the season and this is by no means good news to the ears of Arsenal fans worldwide and many will be left wondering what is next for Cazorla?

Recently, I read an article in a sport paper whereby the writer of the story advised that Arsenal should let Cazorla go because of the persistent injuries he seems to be acquiring every season and I felt offended! I felt offended because I know what loyalty to a club means and I have seen that a lot in Santi Cazorla. Fellow gooners, if you will agree with me, loyalty of players to a club is rare to come across in modern day football, especially when there is a such a lot of money involved!

Santi Cazorla’s injuries are not self-inflicted; every injury he has suffered in Arsenal is as a result of playing for Arsenal! He is one of the few super-experienced players we have; he is skillful and purpose driven. When fit, he is a delight to watch and just like Sanchez, he has the drive for success. He is a perfect example of a captain, and any team will be willing to have him play for them. Arsenal should not be treating their older and experienced players like they didn’t pay their dues, especially when such player can still offer a lot.

Without wasting much time, Arsenal should offer Santi a new deal, keep for three more seasons for him to use his experience to guide and teach younger players in the team. He must not play every game; he should only feature in the big games where his skills and experiences are needed and that way, we can have a fresh Cazorla, who will spend more time on the pitch and lesser time on the treatment table.

  1. I disagree with you @Mr slyvester.
Yes we all love cazorla’s two foot and he’s a magnificent player no doubt but like Rosicky, he also needs to go as he is always unavailable when we need him most age is no longer on his side. Our wishere, iwobi can replace him with time or an already made in the person of Isco.

  2. Arsenal have targeted Malaga midfielder Fornals (say Marca)
as Cazorla’s replacement and could land him for a cheap as £8.5m due to a termination clause in his contract.

The report says that Arsenal scouts have been very impressed with the 21 year old’s displays this season and that could cause them to make a move this summer.

  3. Cazorla is an amazing player and owns central midfield when he plays
Even if Cazorla plays half the season or one third of the season, he is still worth having because of his quality. I say we owe him one more season because of his quality and work rate

By all means get another CM for our future but still keep Cazorla for one more year
I think we should sell Ramsey
And get a better DM than Coquelin and Eleney

  4. I think Arsenal should give him one year contract extension, because of his contributions. And he can create a healthy competition in the midfield position, in next season. We definitely need a future playmaker, but Cazorla can be our old Iniesta or Xavi, because of his experience and skills. He would be a great example for young midfielders.
