A disciplined performance against Chelsea on Sunday gave many Arsenal fans optimism moving forward. Wenger’s men mark themselves as the only side to prevent Conte’s Chelsea from scoring at home since his arrival in April 2016. More importantly, Arsenal finally succeeded in stopping the rot against their London rivals at the Bridge after five successive defeats.
Interestingly, there was a distinct lack of Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil in the team who delivered a professional display against the blues. And whichever side you sit on in relation to the debate, it’s difficult not to see certain individuals looking spirited by their absence. Wenger may look to exclude the pair once again for the midweek cup tie in a bid to maintain this hunger in his side; particularly given the question marks hanging over Ozil’s fitness still.
It’s likely that a rotation policy will be employed against the weak opposition with several youngsters and fringe players expected to appear. These will probably include Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Chuba Akpom, Mohamed Elneny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Calum Chambers and David Ospina. Rob Holding and Alex Iwobi could retain their places from Sunday’s team as Wenger looks to mould both talents into permanent fixtures in the senior squad. Reiss Nelson ranks highly on players Arsenal fans wish to see utilised on Wednesday. Many believe he should be given the opportunity to start which would certainly be a considerably less substantial risk than usual given the quality of the opposition.
A man that earned himself a senior debut nine years ago in this competition could feature in Jack Wilshere. The 25-year old is expected to start in the midfield alongside Elneny after making a substitute appearance in the Gunner’s 3-1 win over Koln last Thursday.
As for the visitors, they have suffered a reasonably dire start to the season. Darren Ferguson’s side are currently hovering above the bottom four in League One, adrift only by goal difference. Sunday marked the third time that Rovers have failed to find the net this season, suffering a frustrating 1-0 home loss at the hands of Scunthorpe this time round. Despite dominating the visitors for increased spells during the game, Doncaster’s potency in front of goal ultimately cost them.
Marquis poses the biggest threat for the lower league team, scoring three league goals so far as well as striking the post during Sunday’s match. But the home advantage coupled with the sheer divide between quality in the two sides should see Arsenal cruise to a landslide victory.

Any line-up that would not beat Doncaster means most of the players in the team should be sent packing from the club.
Agreed 50% became the manager should go with them.

Lets hope the players pull it off though, going to be a tough game with the complacency that will set in after Sundays game.
We must just play academy kids so if we lose Wenger can have a good excuse.

Not annoyed that he left (in fact am very happy) but for helping Loserpool to beat us by being a double agent.
OX missed a super trick in the fact that he messed up his career like Walcott did, just when he found his best position he thought he would rather play in the more glamorous Central Midfield position. The OXs natural abilities really suites the RWB role and that will help him hide his main shortcoming which is his lousy final ball, until a time when he sorts that out and he can then advance to the right of the attack which is his second best position at the moment – Just like Gareth Bale did at Tottenham but on the left side of the pitch. Walcott started retracing his steps and return to the wings after insisting he wants to play center forward but the problem he has is that his skills are best suited for a winger role when we play 4-3-3 but he will be better as center forward when we play 3 at the back or as part of a front 2 like Aguero / Jesus are doing at the moment. Victor Moses has exact same set of skills as the OX and was also playing as a winger until he found out his best position and he took to it like duck to water. If the OX insist on playing central midfield, he won’t make it to the World Cup with England, because he is thrash in the position. Arsenal selling him for 40m was a Jackpot because i’ll play Nelson before him anyday, same kind of runs but Nelson has an end product and more creative which makes me see him as a more advanced player and not a wing back.

You know damn well Klopp is asking himself, wtf am I going to do with this guy?? 35 mil in the bank for him is like taking candy from a baby! If Ox thought his playing time was low at AFC, it is going to be worse now . . . . wouldn’t be surprised to see him get loaned out to be honest. I never saw that much in him and now that he is from under AW’s wing, reality is going to smack him upside the head!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Klopp is over-rated.
And we shouldn’t “Count our chickens” just yet against Doncaster, but it’s certainly a match that we should win convincingly.
