Arsenal show Watford their cojones!

Troy Deeney must be really regretting telling the Arsenal players that they lacked cojones after the Hornets beat Arsenal earlier in the season, when Deeney himself scored a penalty against Petr Cech.

But this time around the Gunners destroyed Watford 3-0 with Deeney yet again getting a penalty, except Cech showed Deeney his cojones and saved it, keeping his 200th EPL clean sheet in the process. Wenger was asked if Deeney’s remarks had had an effect on this game and the Boss replied: “You cannot be a football player or any sportsman without pride,”

“These things come always a little bit in but for how much I don’t know.

“Of course it plays a part.”

Rob Holding was a bit more forthcoming when he was asked about Deeney’s comments, and agreed of course it affected the Arsenal players ahead of today’s match. “It was definitely in the back of our minds,” Holding said.

“We don’t like coming off the pitch and someone saying that about us. We want to show our fight. I think today with a clean sheet – they didn’t have a sniff apart from with the penalty – we just wanted to prove them wrong and prove to our fans we’re still fighting and we believe.”

“It’s been a tough spell,” Holding continued. “We had the good result in Milan and we wanted to build on that and get another clean sheet. I’m buzzing for Petr to get over that milestone. It’s been hanging over his head for a while and it was a great penalty save from him. It was everything we wanted, really.”

It was everything Arsenal fans wanted as well. A good win, a slap in the face for Deeney, a penalty save from Cech, and to cap it all we scored our 1000th Premier League goal!

  1. Deeney’s had so much flak for his ‘cojones’ comment. It was just a bit of banter, based around the truth. The problem is that generation snowflake (people like Bellerin) cannot handle the truth!

    1. I bet bellerin has shown a lot more cohojnes then the normal fans in becoming a footballer
But the. It’s easy typing crap

  2. Glad to see the team show some fight, keep a clean sheet and give us something to be proud of.

Well done all, more of the same please.

  3. Elneny made the difference in midfield, incisive passing and so much energy. He was everywhere and deserves some credits.

  4. Happy with the win, although it’s tupical Arsenal no pressure on the ball and we are world beaters again

  5. Xhaka and El Neny were superb today. Xhaka so much better with defensive partner.

Big big up to El Neny. He was hungry and had real appetite for getting forward.
Great through balls and passing from him, bossed it.

  6. Why do you say Cojones why you dont say balls
anyway now that Wenger is almost on the way Out
    everybody behind de team cheers

  7. Mustafi and elneny came out well from this game … But ozil miki and aubemayang will determine whether the future is brighter if a new manager can work lacazette and wilshere in to that combo and add a proper DM and a couple of new defenders that can work together then we can move ahead … If wenger stays it will be more of the same frustration as his fossilized ego gets in the way of the clubs progress .. The move towards the end which ended with welbeck crashing ball in to side netting was a joy to watch and is what we need to see on a regular basis over 90 mins … The idea that this was an easy victory is belied by the stats and if the pantomime villain had tucked away the pen would probably have had a different outcome

  8. You will always get results like this when you play to dominate the game and attack with good fullbacks. Defense will fix itself. Xhaka has shown what he can bring to the team when you play him with someone who can hold the Ball get it out of dangerous area. Well done guys, that was a well deserved victory. A Gunner Forever

    1. Happy to be a killjoy here. The defence WILL NOT fix itself.A clean sheet against a lowly Watford side should not disguise the deficiencies we still have at the back.We have been found wanting in most of the big games this season not to mention the goals we have conceded away from home against all the lower sides.
I still believe we have good players in defence. But the same old problems will always be there until they are introduced to something they are not accustomed to-COACHING

      1. We have been found wanting in most of the big games because we played 3 at the back as we stock the Midfield with too many players with no space. We make back passes too often instead of going forward because there’s always nobody to pass to in front apart from Lacazette9 who was our the striker. Putting 9men behind the Ball is simply a joke for me and that was the reason behind Asene Wenger’s failure this season. Take a good look at our stat when we Attack then you will see that the defense is not as bad as you think

    2. What a stupid comment to say the defence will fix itself. Pray then why has it NOT DONE SO then? Its been awful for years and only getting worse.

        1. Sam, Jon like myself has seen what good Arsenal defenders, who are well coached look like. Arsenal haven’t demonstrated a well coached defence for years and 2017/18 season represents the nadir. You only have to look at goals conceded and losses away from home.

  9. Ozil is fastest player to score 50 assists in premier league history. That’s mainly due to his 19 assists 2 years ago where our strikers really let him down when it came to breaking Henry’s assists record. Giroud went on a 12 game non scoring streak and Walcott was terrible up front. Not his fault. Wenger should have played @lexis up front.
We would have come closer to winning the PL that season had Wenger played Alexis up front.

Atleast we should have tried to nick Kante and Mahrez from Leicester after losing to them.

Another reason why Wenger should go. Can’t recognise real quality

  10. Two straight wins and two straight clean sheets coming up on the heels of four straight looses….this NEW coach must be a genius for borrowing players from Man City and coming with ingenuous playing styles. Oh..it’s because AW is already on the way out. Oh no…..we prefer Sam Allardyce, David Moyes, Alan Pardew, Donald Kulman…..Poch…….(all zero trophies in how many years now?) Celebrate what you have and be objective with criticism.

    1. Are you serious mate? Celebrate what we have? Tell me if I’m wrong.A team that is likely to finish in SIXTH PLACE in the Premiership if we are able to fend off the mighty Burnley.A team that loses to Swansea Brighton Bournemouth and Stoke and manage draws against Southampton West Ham and WBA away from home this season. A team that capitulated in the Carabao Cup final and embarrassed the Club with the most abject surrender of a performance any Wembley final has ever seen.A team with no obvious signs of improvement bearing in mind this Manager some how over achieved last season by guiding us to the heights of a FIFTH place finish after we managed SECOND the season before.Note I have not even mentioned getting knocked out of the FA Cup by a Notts Forrest reserve side that have hardly won a game since.
Two wins with clean sheets prove nothing.Thats unless of course you are satisfied with mediocrity and wish for this decrepit fool of a manager to remain in charge.
