Arsenal star NOT happy despite GOALS GALORE!

After improving significantly year on year since coming to play for Arsenal after leading his former club Montpellier to their first ever French title, you would think that Olivier Giroud was a happy man. But apparently not because he has been quoted in the Daily Mail admitting that the media focus on what he wears, how he looks and what his latest haircut might be is really starting to get on his wick.

After scoring 18 goals in a season seriously shortened by a lengthy injury lay-off, perhaps the France international star can be forgiven for thinking that his on pitch exploits rather than his off pitch appearance should be talked about more.

He said, “I don’t want to speak any more about my appearance, my hair or anything, I get p***** about that.

“I don’t know (if I am an animal). I know one thing, in sport you have to question yourself every week and be ready in your head and you have to be at 100 per cent of determination if you want to keep going and win games, you cannot afford to be at 80 or 90 per cent.”

Unfortunately for Giroud it seems that his performances only make the news when they are being criticised, like his off game in the first leg against Monaco or his struggles against Chelsea at the weekend, when the former Gunner and current TV pundit Thierry Henry questioned his ability to lead Arsenal at the top level.

The Arsenal fans and the man whose opinion is the most important, Arsene Wenger, seem to appreciate his ability at least – and to be honest, I think we should not mind that Giroud is underrated, as it will keep him determined to prove people wrong and hopefully keep other clubs from trying to sign him.

Do you think Arsenal will see yet more improvement from Giroud next season?

  1. I very much hope and pray that next season, giroud can replicate his good which he showed this season, into a 35- 40 goal striker! Coyg!

  2. I personally think we’re going to continue to build around him next season. I have a strong suspicion we’ll look to sign a versatile forward, but not someone to directly challenge Giroud.
Back to goal he is quite simply phenomenal and his ability to bring others into play and create scoring chances for others is first-class.
I strongly believe a big reason in his resurgence the second half of this season has been the added threat of Sanchez which teams have had to pay strong attention to if they have any hope of containing him. If we can find or establish a real threat on RW be that Theo or Ox playing to the performances they are capable of, or a new signing we will see even more from Giroud. In a balanced forward line with support from our amazing midfield he’s a top striker to have.
Higuain, Cavani, Lacazette, Martinez and the other big name strikers rumoured to be possibly available this summer would probably score more goals than him in our current set-up. But I personally feel that as a TEAM we would be far more dangerous with him leading the line next season.
That and he is pretty damn good at locking down near post on set-pieces.. Has anyone else lost that crippling fear every time we gave away a free kick in a dangerous position?

    1. Giroud will never lead us to the title he’s not good enough and don’t start with injuries Aguero was out for 6weeks and City had to play Milner as a striker but he still has 21 league goals because he’s World Class, the truth is we are 13 points behind Chelsea even with his 14 GOALS GALORE we’re not even close!

        1. oh wow Hafiz… I thought you’d be happy with Giroud?? Falcao and Balotelli would be better don’t you think?

      1. Since Giroud’s return on the 22/11
        21W 4L 2D

We’ve dropped 13 points in the league since his return. With losses to stoke, united, tottenham and draws to chelsea and everton.
I’ve never claimed Giroud’s scoring to be world-class, but our results with him leading the line has been up there with the top form in Europe.

You reference Aguero. Yeah he’s scoring has been immense. But where are City and how have the fared against us this season?
We’ve only failed to score in 4 games this season all comps!! It hasn’t been our inability to score goals which has cost us this season. It’s conceding

        1. to josh37, you asked where is ManC, even though they have had a below average season, they are above us in Premier Leaguer table. Even club legend king Henry said that with Girould we can´t win the league after the Chelsea came, I think he knows more how to win trophies than you, what do you think? Just 1 goal against Chelsea, ManC, ManU in 3 season, not so convincing…

          1. Jipii, 1.They’re above only by goal difference 2. We have a game in hand. Your criticism is invalid.

  3. Goals galore?Giroud has been good but 18 goals is not goals galore our highest goal scorer in history is Thierry Henry he knows what it takes to be a world class striker and unfortunately Giroud is not world class like Aguero who has equally been injured this season but has 21 Premier League goals!!!

    1. Despite his injuries Aguerro still played more games than Giroud.
I agreed we should buy striker but with different style from him.

  4. Im not sure about even more improvement but if he can just continue his current form that will be fantastic. Nearly a goal a game is the form only a few top strikers ever achieve.

  5. – 4 players away from the title
    – To buy 4 players we must release flamini/diaby/rosicky
    – we must sell Podolski/Jenko and walcott
    – It should be a busy summer if our FC is serious about winning the title

    1. we Must release

Rosicky, Arteta, Diaby, Ryo, Flamini and Sanago

      We Must Sell

      Poldi, Jenko, Walcott and Wilshere

They have totally no contribution and we are paying them wages….

  6. Henry is world class and i believe he knows a world class striker when he sees one. If he says Giroud isnt, then he isnt… We need a striker that can fire us to the top of the Epl and win the golden boot.
