Arsenal star out of Wales semi-final after Man of Match performance

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey will miss Wales semi-final match-up against Cristiano Ronaldo, after starring against Belgium tonight.

The Arsenal star picked up his third Man of the Match award for the current tournament, after helping his side to eliminate the Red Devils, who are ranked number 2 in the FIFA World Rankings.

Ramsey capped off a fine midfield display with an assist, which was slotted away in spectacular fashion by Hal Robson Kanu, who is currently without a club. He will certainly not be shy of offers after such a huge impact on the game, but will be concentrated on his current task.

Wales have never reached the semi-final stage of a tournament previously, but are well deserved of their place this year, and you would not rule out them winning the tournament on recent displays.

Unfortunately, the Dragons will need to overcome Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal without vice-captain Ramsey, who picked up an unfortunately yellow card, for a (deemed) deliberate hand-ball to break up the play. The Gunner will be able to return for the final should his side manage to progress without him.

Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny also remain in the competition, and could all qualify for the last four should Germany and France overcome Italy and Iceland respectively.

Can Wales continue their impressive Euro 2016 bid without Ramsey? Will Bale be able to step-up and fill the void left by their best performer thus far? Or will Ronaldo finally find some form and kill the passionate Welsh run which has opened so many eyes?

  1. Hope Rambo can keep this form up for Arsenal! He’s been fantastic so far, Congrats Wales!

  2. Kanu was the motm not rambo. But yea he was SUPERB. Kinda weird our star players Sanchez Ozil Ramsey Koss Giroud are all having good runs in Copa America/Euro after a poor season with us lol.

      1. Imo,the one Arsenal player saving himself was Walcott,he was not committed to Arsenal at all towards the end of the season, all he wanted to do was avoid injuries in order to make the England team.
Unfortunately,he dropped form, went down the pecking order and eventually missed the Euros…I hope he picks form again next season…

Congrats to Ramsey and Wales,am so happy for them, but gutted Ramsey will miss the Semi, maybe Andy King can step up..if they can continue to dig deep and play as a team, they can shock Portugal who have been very lucky to get here….

        COYG!!

    1. Take his goal away and that was a 1 out of 5 star performance. He could keep the ball, a lot of miss placed passes.

Ramsey MADE that midfield tick, he broke the lines of Belgium a few times down the right and his corners was Wales’ biggest threat.

Even that goal which you think was so amazing that it made a 1/2 star performance to a 5 out 5 star performance was made by Ramsey. Ramsey’s run, touch and pin point cross created so much space with a spare man open and clear on goal gave kanu the opportunity to do his Cruyff turn and score.

  3. I always said Rambo is an amazing player when he keeps his game simple and doesn’t try to show off. His MOTM goes to prove that as long as he’s disciplined he won’t have to worry about creating and scoring goals because everything will come naturally. This is the attitude we want him to have when playing for Arsenal.

  4. Wales are in the Semi final..
Most people predicted a win for Belgium..Wonder what’s going through England fans and players mind.. ..Bale was right when he said Wales have got Character. Congrats Wales.

  5. The Leicester effect : Fearless Wales.
The fixture last night brought direct hit to Arsenal’s Ramsey haters. He still has that “one season wonder” in him. Just have to find the right motivation. Play for the team not for your own dignity. Rambo was trying too much to emulate his scoring record last season.

  6. I have always noticed that ramsey’s best position is attacking midfielder position due to his runs to break the defensive line. He is very good at picking those runs and he can score as well. Funny enough i even did think he could be a striker due to his hunger for scoring goals coupled with his movement. The problem is ozil plays ahead of him, while ozil doesn’t make as much runs, he is far more creative. This is why i think wenger will stick him in the right wing position which i am not too confident in. One position i know for sure he shouldn’t play is the cm position as he leaves gaps at the back because he just can’t adjust his game and become more disciplined instead of his usual runs forward. How we will fit ozil, ramsey in the same line up is a mystery for now.

  7. Trouble is from his body language he is not bothered how he performs for Arsenal because the motivation to win at Arsenal is not there, hence why we lose and don’t turn up for so many games that we should be winning.

    Only one reason for that..

  8. Decent performance bales still the Single reason their in the Semis.

Ramsey is quite lucky he has tried his stupid flicks, bent passes the only reason he hasn’t been exposed is because of the Red wall behind him that’s 7 men throwing their bodies at the ball.

At Arsenal what he doesn’t understand is when he does that we et exposed because full backs are pushed up and there’s probly 1/2 defenders at the back, as soon as he realises this the better it’s been 5years and he still hasn’t grasped the concept that Arsenal cannot defend so don’t Dilly Dally and do your slow motion rubbish.

Overall he’s had an decent tournament nothing to rave about like the Kroos, Layer, Draxlers etc
