Arsenal star shows some true class at Copa America

It must have been a massive blow to the Arsenal and Colombia keeper David Ospina this week when after a fantastic Copa America tournament so far, they started the semi-final against Chile so poorly that they allowed Alexis Sanchez and his team mates to grab an early two goal lead from which they could never recover.

Ospina was not at fault for the goals and our second choice stopper had a fantastic tournament, as did the whole of the Colombian side and I fancied them to go all the way and perhaps even surprise the favourites Argentina and add to their only tournament victory which came in 2001.

It was not to be though, so Ospina had to see his Arsenal team mate Alexis celebrating at the end of the 90 minutes but despite the disappointment the keeper still managed to show some real class, as reported by Metro, in congratulating Chile and wishing the striker the best of luck for the final against the great Lionel Messi and all. Ospina alluded to the fact that Sanchez had not gone into the tournament in great form and struggled to have his usual influence in the first couple of games but has just got better as it has gone on.

He said, ‘He’s not just a great player, he’s an excellent person.

‘He’s showing what he is made of at the Copa America with his movement, competitiveness and use of the ball. I’m happy for him.’

You just have to love Ospina don’t you?

    1. Boy, I never like Barca. They like tapping our players. You are a Barca fan that’s why you hate CR7.
We are talking about our players here. So how does CR7 come in here? It is people like you that Admin hates.

  1. “You just have to love Ospina don’t you?”

Well, I haven’t met him personally, so I can’t tell if we’ll be homies or not.

  2. Ospina is a class guy, but I think you have to love Alexis even more. His performances have been fantastic for Chile, and I would not be be surprised to see them beat Argentina in the finals as they did last year.. If you have watched Chile in the Copa you get a sense of what could be at Arsenal if we had a more dynamic striker and another true winger paired with Sanchez. As far as Colombia was concerned, they were outmatched by Chile from the beginning. I think part of the problem with Colombia was their lack of a good striker. They made some questionable decisions about who they brought to this tournament and it cost them in this tournament.

Anyway, I hope Alexis gets a little more support next season

    1. Well…. Lukaku was asked about this rumour and all that he said was that his agent is dealing with his future!

Personally, I would take that as been positive news for us Gooner’s, because he didn’t denie the rumours as been rubbish. ? So there’s still hope and it all depends on Wenger’s willingness to spend Big on this striker.

  3. Highlight of the tournament was seeing James Rodriguez on his arse after Sanchez showed him the shoulder. Personally, I would have taken the opportunity to say something like “sit down” or “and stay down” if I was Sanchez but he’s probably too nice
