Arsenal stars snubbed from PFA Premier League Team of the Year

The PFA Premier League Team of the Year has been announced, and not a single Arsenal star has made the line-up.

The Gunners didn’t have many players expected to make the team after a dreadful campaign thus far, but Alexis Sanchez is nominated for the PFA Premier League Player of the Year award, and I would have thought he would have made the line-up.

The Chilean is our club’s current top goalscorer, and has been impressing in various different roles for our side, and I would have expected him to be selected ahead of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane in the 4-4-2 line-up.

Full PFA Premier League Team of the Year:

De Gea (Man Utd)
Walker (Spurs)     Cahill (Chelsea)    Luiz (Chelsea)     Rose (Spurs)
Mane (Liverpool)   Kante (Chelsea)   Alli (Spurs)        Hazard (Chelsea)
Kane (Spurs)       Lukaku (Everton)

Hector Bellerin was our only inclusion in last season’s PFA Team, but even he hasn’t enjoyed his best term, and wasn’t expected to make the final team. Mesut Ozil was overlooked harshly last season despite topping the assists charts, but has had his struggles this term.

It seems odd that the Team of the Year is selected prior to the end of the season, and with just over three quarters of the matches being played, although I’m not sure much would change between now and then.

Alexis could begin to thrive with the new freedom he should receive due to our switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation, much like Eden Hazard has, and he could well be crucial in our push to climb back into the top four.

His exclusion in the selection does seem to rule out any hopes of landing an unlikely PFA Player of the Year award though, not that anyone looks likely to beat the Chelsea pair Kante and Hazard to it anyway.

Did Alexis Sanchez deserve a spot in the team? Did any of our other players deserve a mention?

    1. Agree with the first part…

But I don’t see any Man City players here… they aren’t shit by all means…

  1. What did anyone expect, I think the PFA have got it right, nobody from our club, and I include Sanchez, on performances over the whole season deserve to be in the PFA team.

  2. Well it’s hardly a surprise is it! Sanchez may have made it on list if Wenger had kept him upfront, but trust Wenger to mess things up as always.

  3. Is Wenger on any manager list?
Perhaps the one for falling over or struggling with a zip?
Or Perhaps for being in the champions league for 20 years with only 1 real serious chance of winning it?

Credit should be given where credit is due!

    1. Of course there is bias. If Chelsea’s teammates think that Hazard could be in the running with Alexis, they will not choose Alexis. The Derby rival teams will not choose any from each other. If Liv think it could be between Mane and Alexis they will not choose Alexis.

  4. And guess who dominates the PFA list…

    .

    Say hello to SPUDYyyyyyy!

    .
    Hope we now realize
Team Arsenal is not good enough……Let that sink in

    1. If that was us people would ridicule us for getting these type of awards when Chelsea and Conte are winning the one that matters. Even some of the media would get involved, esp if a player looked glad about winning it.

  5. Spud deserve to win the double whether we like it or not…

They have been consistent and scoring goals

Got to give credit when its due

If we get a new manager, overhaul the team..sign a few world class big name players, we may have a chance to hammer them next season
